  10. I learned about this Christmas geocoin exchange while listening to the #Geogearheads podcast (episode 412) on my way home from a late night shift on Nov 25. When I got home I I hoped for the best and submitted my very late application to participate... and in a true Christmas Miracle fashion I made it in!! I am excited to participate in this exchange and I will be watching my mailbox with anticipation! 11. Virtuals provide a great geocaching option in areas of community and historical significance that would otherwise be left out of the game completely. On a recent trip to Washington, D.C. I was delighted by all the virtual caches located along the National Mall. Due to the high security of this area it is impossible to place a physical contaier in this area, but virtual caches made it possible to explore discover many of the unique sites located along the National Mall. I look forward to the return of Virtual caches!
  12. With my Oregon 300 I have been on 2.97 since its release and I experienced the same situation today for 3 hours (4pm - 7pm Eastern time) while driving through Central Ontario under clear blue skies. With only 3 birds locked in I had accurracy reporting as poorly as 300 meters! Even though I had 12 birds appearing on the satellite screen, only 3, sometimes 4 would lock in as green, the rest would appear as grey. What was really odd is that when I would do a cold boot (pull the batteries for 5 minutes) on start-up the satellite screen would initally lock on to 6 or more birds for the first second, and then they would all go grey and then 3 or four would lock then lock in as green. It was really frustrating. When I pulled into my drive way at 7pm, something changed and I suddenly had 10 birds lock in as green and my accuracy returned to 3 meters and stayed that way for the remainder of the night. Wierd.
  13. When solo caching, 30 caches a day is my normal target. On a recent trip to Florida, myself and another cacher found 32 caches in under 2 hours (The Easy Cache Run) and a total of 76 for the day. Three days later in the Ocala Forest we found 81 caches in one day. In a cache rich area 30+ caches is easy, it just get repetative and you need good field notes to remember them all for your logs.
  14. It was great to meet you at Geocoinfest 2008. Here is the tracking code for my new Bike Safety Awareness geocoin. TB1A78G geO_Kacher Ontario, Canada
  15. I took your advice and e-mailed this request to Magellan's support desk. Maybe if enough of the Magellan users ask the question, maybe we can get them to listen.
  16. I agree. I liked having the caches identified numerically on the map and then listed but ame along the right navigation bar. The current option for the cache listing does not corelate the list of cache names with the icons on the map so it is is not very practical - ots of cachs but no cahe names. Also, the cache listing window is not resizeable and uses a large font, meanig if you try to include it on a screen print it covers a lot of the map. There are definate benefits to the new format in the number of caches displayed on the map area, but I think this was achieved at the expense of other practical funcions.
