I was downloading my tracks and waypoints to Basecamp on a Mac running OS X 10..6. The GPS was recognized and I initiated the transfer from the unit. I did get a message that the transfer was complete but nothing actually came over as best I could determine. I tried again and had no luck. I went to eject the GPS 60CSx and I noticed a humming noise coming from the unit. I tried to shut it off but could not. I removed the battery and it stopped humming. I installed the battery and started the unit up and it came to the satellite page and starts to acquire the satellites. It basically freezes and I cannot go to another page nor can I shut it down by the usual method. Removing the battery is the only way to shut down.
I fear that I have damaged the unit and do not know if there is anything I can do, other than getting it repaired or recycling it.
I did run the Garmin Web Updater and it recognized the unit and I reinstalled the latest software but that did not help.
Any suggestions before I do either of these options?
