  1. Saw a new wooden nickel discussion started, thought this thread needed a bump for the newbies.
  2. Wooden nickel discussions were added to the trackables forum as a courtesy by the powers-that-be. Be sure to check-out the wooden nickel trading thread, there are still alot of us around who would gladly trade with any of you newbies via snail-mail. I've built a rather nice collection that way. And still make my own. My wooden nickels are made with a rubber stamp for each side with different color inks. Then I add some coloring on the front with markers. I never got into varnishing them, however. I've got wooden nickels that were burnt/engraved, painted, stamped, made with stickers, cut to odd sized, made from plastic, etc.......... from all parts of the US, Canada, and several foreign countries. They are a great alternative to geocoins, but not worth making trackable. You find one of mine in a cache, it's yours. But I'll always mail trades to anybody. And if you e-mail me thru my profile, I'll send one to anybody even without a trade. It's always good to make contact with another geocacher somewhere else in the world.
  3. I'd gladly trade one of my personal non-trackable coins for one of these. E-mail my profile if interested and I'll send a picture.
  4. Geeeeeeeezz, I don't follow instructions very well, do I? OOOPS! Now I broke another rule.
  5. 1. FAVORITE - The space shuttle coin by coinsandpins is a big favorite. Just about anything space related is a big deal with me. 2. THEMES - I have several themes. I collect the club coins, and they're always unique and different. When I had my own geocoin made, I traded for alot of other cacher's personals, and I like them all. And anything space related. 3. WISHLIST - Any kind of functional geocoin, like all the GCC January editions, the Planisphere, the Nocturnal, the Pocket Decoder, etc............ Did I say I like anything space related? This whole adventure started with the satellites, and like the old quote says, I like using billion-dollar space hardware to find tupperware in the woods.
  6. Some of us old traders are still lurking around these parts. My nickel pictures used to be visible in this thread, but maybe not anymore. I'll try posting them again later, but I'll send you a photo of them when you reply to my e-mail, which I will send next. Thanks for reviving this thread, and happy trading !!!
  7. How about a coin that has something to do with geocaching? A geocaching group, event, CITO, or the science behind geocaching?
  8. Let's go racing, boys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or my favorite Richard Petty line............. "Ok boys, let's fire'em up!"
  9. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?IID=6f40a0b8-3155-41d0-82de-ce2c4435d2b8&LID=4182025 Justin has always liked t-shirts with funny sayings on them. This log has a photo of him in a t-shirt that was never more INAPPROPRIATE for geocaching. It still makes me chuckle every time I go back thru my gallery and look at it. It was a great multi-geocache to find too. It's a shame, it appears to have been stolen and archived a long time ago. We had a cache thief in the area back in those days. Love those ammo cans, especially when someone takes the time to paint over the original markings. Got to be safe. (edit) Sorry, I forgot.......... number GCJ449 name "Tag" Your it. Either the name is misspelled or I have yet to figure out where to tag my "it".
  10. Well, since most of my picks sucked last year................. 1. Danica Patrick 2. John Andretti (my favorite driver) 3. Richard Petty
  11. 1. The 2005 Maryland geocoin, seen in Sept. 2005 at a geocaching picnic event 2. The 2005 New York State geocoin, bought in Sept. 2005 3. October 2006 4. November 2006 for a Night Hawk personal geocoin 5. Seeing the Maryland geocoin was the first time I had every heard of geocoins
  12. Steelers 21 Packers 17 I hope it's a good game. We've had some really good SB's in recent years, it's like we're almost due for a blow-out. But I doubt it, these 2 teams are too good.
  13. Signed-in this year as The Orange Crush. GO! Joey Logano and the #20 Home Depot car.
  14. Only 5 weeks to the 2011 Daytona 500 and all the activities that lead-up to it. I'm looking forward to the 24 Hours of Daytona race in 2 weeks. That's when my racing season starts. BUMP !!!
  15. Faith and trust. That's what it's all about. In alot of ways. We activate our coins and leave them in geocaches, never knowing what will happen to them. Sometimes they move for a long time, sometimes they disappear quickly. "Geocaching is a game of giving stuff away and keeping your fingers crossed." We buy coins from that e-place online, not knowing the seller, not knowing if we're going to actually get what the seller says. We buy coins from the geocoin vendors, sometimes on pre-sale, and then wait several weeks for them to finally arrive. I recently spearheaded the movement to get the Lehigh Valley GeoCachers' first geocoin made. I took design suggestions from many of our members and worked with the mint to make a nice coin. Seventeen of our members contributed to making the first order a reality. Now for the rest of the story........... I have only met 4 or 5 of these geocachers in person. Nobody knows my real name, my phone number, my home address. Yet I managed to collect a boatload of money in my PayPal account in order to purchase the coins. The coins are done and just about everybody has theirs now. Faith and trust. Oh, did I mention I'm presently unemployed? What a racket I could start.
  16. The Lehigh Valley GeoCachers of eastern PA have their own geocoin! See photo below. Thanks to geocacher tootsie-roll for the design. It's been made into plenty of t-shirts over the years, but long overdue for a geocoin. For now we did not order any extras, so there are none for sale by the group. Some of us ordered extras, so there may be some for sale or trade later. We just wanted to have our own geocoin. Are there any other geocoins in the shape of the state of PA? I'd like to see them too.
  17. There were some nice train geocoins made a few years ago by ranger216. More recently there was a Pennsylvania Railroad coin that was very nice. Unfortunately these are all sold-out and probably only available if anybody sells one on the e*** place. Good luck, but you may find one there.
  18. "You're so slow you have to speed-up to stop." I don't remember where I first heard this one. It is very appropriate when somebody does something really dumb. And I know a few people like that. That's it, that's 3 posts. I'm done. Good luck to all and thanks for the cointest.
  19. "Yeah, but it's a dry heat!" Anytime the air conditioning stop working and things start to warm-up. From the movie "Aliens", spoken by the actor Bill Paxton. Another favorite movie line.
  20. "Four hours?" Short and sweet. For any situation that seems impossible. Or when anybody says "Four hours?" It comes from the movie "Titanic", when the captain was told the Carpathia could arrive in 4 hours. He already knew the ship would sink before then.
  21. PaRacers - Please let us know when you receive our coins, so we know they arrived safely.
  22. Congrats to PaRacers, you ran a good season. This was fun, opalsns. Please keep me on the list for next year again.
  23. Oh yeah, I forgot.................... GO DENNY HAMLIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Yeah, these are always fun. At least I managed to check my drivers every week. Alot of bubble mailers going to PaRacer's house this week. I won't finish too bad, but at least it's better than how I did in the league we have at work. 10th out of 10, and I even tried to do well in that one. I mean come-on, it's work, I see these guys every day.
  25. Hey !!! It's been a busy week and I just now got a chance to check back in. Holy crap !!! I won something !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad I checked-in. I almost forgot about it. Congrats to all the other winners. A special shout-out to my friend Gatoulis of Rhodes - We both won something !!! And thanks to WRITE SHOP ROBERT for a great cointest. A nice little side trip down memory lane to break-up the monotony of work. I'll get an e-mail with my addrees to you promptly. Awesome !!!
