  1. But what about dentists? Got them yet? Anyway, I know about Lat. and Long. and Greenwich and all the e/w stuff. My obviously-poorly-written query attempted to ask why all the satellites that my unit could see were on the extreme western horizon (as displayed on the unit). None ever got more than 15 degrees or so off the western horizon. Am I only seeing the one in geosynchronous orbit above the U.S.? If, as one poster noted, that it is indeed GLOBAL (thanks for yelling 'cause I'm hard of hearing), then why did I not see any satellites overhead while in Europe?
  2. I took my Garmin Emap with me to Ireland and France mainly for a navigational aid. I noticed that all the satellites it could 'see' were at the extreme horizon (to the west, in the direction of the USA). That made me wonder - do GPSr units only see a subset of satellites? Can one get another 'prom' (or something) when traveling to other parts of the world? Thanks, TomT
  3. Are there any geocaches in Ille-et-Vilaine in Bretagne, France?
  4. Hey, I happened upon a bench mark while in San Juan PR the other day. But I can't seem to find it in geocache's database - it won't take the zip code (they do have them there), the LAT/LON nor the PID. What's up with that???
  5. I heard about it in a sotry on National Public Radio and I went right out and got one! Japer
  6. On a recent American Airlines flight from Columbus, OH to Dallas, TX, the flight attendant told me to put away my GPSr - bummer! I did take occasional readings just to see where we were. On the next leg from Dallas to San Francisco, that flight attendant asked me if I had one and told me not to use it - I guess the first one had pegged me as a user?? Anyway, from SF back to Columbus on Delta, I used it =with= my antenna and all was cool. I sure enjoy knowing what each little town and river is! Japer
