  1. Same problem here and has nothing to do with length of message. I get text to verify but no way to verify.
  2. I set up to be emailed as text using phonenumber@vtext.com and it sent the text to verify by going to a link....link is to email page with no way to verfiy. This sucks.
  3. I don't see the hamburger menu icon to lock the data fields.
  4. Found it!!!! Thanks again. If you are ever in Pahrump let me know and I'll take you around on my Polaris.
  5. kunarion How did you get the "Destination" in the Dashboard? I can't find it anywhere. I reset my 600 and have started from scratch. I think it will make it much easier. Thanks for your help. Tho I think I might have another question, lol.
  6. kunarion Thanks for the screen shots. I hear that you get what I'm talking about and am going to like you did...thanks for your post!!!!
  7. I'm not at all happy with my Oregon 600. My old 60cx was a breeze and very accurate. My Oregon is just not at all user friendly for geocaching and I'm sorry I ever bought it. I have reset it and resetup the screens and it's still a PITA to geocaching with. I can never find what I want on the 600 (screen stuff, not the caches, lol). Maybe I just need to get everything off (menus, screens, etc) and have a few basic ones for geocaching only....what a waster for the money I spent for it plus cost of maps...aargh. But, now that I have it I'm looking for perhaps a 10" tablet so am very happy with all of your responses. Will look into all you posts.
  8. WOW - 2 great replys. I am going to have fun finding a tablet and all these other apps. Thanks!!!
  9. I have a Oregon 600 but am looking for something bigger to assist, not replace, my 600 with my hunting of caches in the desert and other remote areas...a large area. I'd like to be able to see a large area on the map. I was thinking of an Android tablet with GPS that works without wifi or cell coverage. I also want the usb to be OTG so it will be slave and master. Would I be able to find a tablet like this that shows my location, movement and the caches? Am I making sense? Thanks
  10. It really isn't scary (anymore!) - it won't wipe your waypoints unless you select that option..... After you reset, its like a new unit, select language, then work your way through the settings menus making changes to your desires (surprisingly few). Setting up the main menu takes the longest... but still only a few minutes.... I just found my Setup Icon.....outta the blue - go figure. I've got it all setup the way I like it and backed up so I'll wait until the next "aargh" moment to reset it. Thanks for the confidence that I'll be ok when I do reset it, lol.
  11. Yep - now there's an empty space. I swiped and nothing there. Thanks tho!!
  12. Thanks everyone. I got my Profile backed up but not ready to reset....scary, lol. No second screen to swipe to. Still wondering were that little icon is hiding.
  13. So far my only solution is to put a shortcut on the main menu that goes to setup. still can't find the original setup on the main menu.
  14. I've lost my setup icon on the home screen and can't find it. Can you help me get it back?
  15. Once you've set the dashboard to "Small data fields", tap on each of the four fields on the screen and you can select which type of data to display in that spot. "Distance to next" should be under the distance category. I also use the "Pointer" data field, which adds a little red arrow pointing toward the spot you're navigating to, like a little compass arrow. Sorry for my memory (post stroke person). I found the editable 4 boxes but now I can't find them again. I go to Maps - Dashboard - Small Data Fields then it pops back to Dashboard. Please, in steps, how do I get to the 4 editable boxes again. Sorry and thanks so much!!!
  16. Keep in mind that the charging circuit in the Oregon is fairly unsophisticated and will degrade the life of the batteries more than if you charged them separately using a smart charger. Personally, I use Eneloops charged separately, but also plug in my Oregon so it runs off the car's power while driving. It isn't charging the batteries, but at least it isn't draining them. GREAT!! except I can't find "distance to next" - I have "small date field" - how do I get from main menu to the screen that says that? I also use the "Pointer" data field, which adds a little red arrow pointing toward the spot you're navigating to, like a little compass arrow. Still no luck - I go to Maps -> Dashboard and select Small Data Fields and when I do it automatically goes back to the map screen: Config, Orientation, Dashboard, Guidance Text, Map Speed and Advanced Setup. There's no 4 fields to pick anywhere and there's no "Distance" Oh wait - I think I found it - it's four boxes!!...got it..............thanks so much!!!!

  19. 1 - How do I mark a geocache as "found?" 2 - How can I get a reading on how far I am from a cache and the update as I get closer? 3 - Can I use a regular cell phone charger in the car to keep my Oregon charged while driving from cache to cache? Now wasn't that easy??? Probably not as too many posters say "do this" but don't say how to get there....so please, give me exact menu steps to get there starting from the main menu. Thanks!!
  20. I have the geocaching dashboard up but can't find where to select all types, found, caches sizes - where (exactly!) is that on my 600?
  21. If you use GSAK to manage and upload caches (as I do), you can set it to delete the existing GPX files for you. I always like it when someone tells you what you can do but doesn't tell you how to do it - NOT!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I got OSM routable covering various western state and none were routable. Maybe it's a setting in my Garmin 600 but so far no luck with OSM states maps. I'll see what I can find in Basecamp. It's getting very frustrating to not be able to find routable geocache maps for NV, ID, OR, WA.
  23. I just replaced by 60Cx (old card not working) with a 600 and am having trouble finding routable maps to use when Geocaching. I ran OSM routable but when I install in the 600 and try to go to a geocache (GO) is says "Maps do not have routable roads in this area." I'd like to avoid buying the maps for $100 so am looking for free map. I was under the impression that I'd have not problem finding free routable maps for geocaching but that's turning out to be not true for me. Help?
  24. I tried the "old" so now I've downloaded the new one and will load it to GPSr. I'm up near Crater Lake and really could use the extra stuff in the new one. Thanks for all the help!!!
  25. "The app" shows maps with some detail. I use c:geo as it works much smoother even though I have "the app" - was a waste of money but I'll try it next time I'm in that situation. Thanks!!
