I've brought a couple of travel bugs (three) with me from Texas on vacation... Well - the rain put paid to any hunting today... And it might rain again tomorrow, and then we leave Wednesday. We're staying in Brooklyn, we'll be in Manhattan tomorrow... Anyone want to adopt some bugs? Failing that - which is the biggest cache in Central Park? I'll just get them all there tomorrow no matter what. Thanks. ___________________________________ who's got the pig?

Who here owns a Volkswagen?
team travel pig replied to Bahnburner's topic in General geocaching topics
to be fair, marky, even with the smiley it seemed a little like there was a travel bug embedded somewhere... first car 72 beetle, 2nd, golf I hatchback... 5th new beetle. lovely. ___________________________________ who's got the pig? -
my husband thinks it's a wretched habit of mine, but as i'm still doing it, he has conceded to coming along with me on weekends. sometimes, which i appreciate. he still thinks i'm insane, but is understanding. he generally stays in the car when i go out to search. he can't stand the bugs, and is allergic to fireants. i cache alone quite happily during the week. ___________________________________ who's got the pig?

Looking for foam to make "Gear box"
team travel pig replied to gnbrotz's topic in General geocaching topics
the stuff jolly is talking about is, i think, the "pick and pluck" foam that comes with pelican cases. you can also just buy the foam. google it for a good online price - e-Bay is NOT the cheapest place on these. i bought a case a month or so ago, but i forget where from. ___________________________________ who's got the pig? -
my first cache was not approved...please comment

actually, i think the proximity issue is the biggest one. far from being a guideline, the .1 is something of a hard and fast rule. ___________________________________ who's got the pig? -

scintillating dialoge... Friend says "I need a new truck!" and so plausible... As the group is on the ground they see a pack of wild dogs. The dogs attack a small animal. The group comments on how savage it is. Dad says "Well that's the way mother nature is." ___________________________________ who's got the pig?

it also explains why it's so hard to be a copy editor - because your brain will read it right even when it's wrong! ___________________________________ who's got the pig?

Successful recruitment strategies?

i think we're going to have to start conscripting people... hang on... i think americans have another word for this... oooh yes. the draft. i'll take a look at the vector idea - thanks... but as the geese said. we needs the bodies. well - we have a micro event coming up, so we'll see how well it works. i'm hopeful... thanks for the input everyone - i'll go and pay the library a visit! ___________________________________ who's got the pig? -
Successful recruitment strategies?
team travel pig replied to team travel pig's topic in General geocaching topics
perhaps we just live in a town of people who think this is dumber than a door knob. perhaps it's just that... but i keep thinking - maybe people would get interested if they had hundreds to find... but in order to have hundreds... the geese, bro_ray and i will have to exhaust ourselves completely! ___________________________________ who's got the pig? -
Successful recruitment strategies?

Corpus Christi, Breaktrack... And while that's an idea - there's always the vacation cache rule... Hmmm... I'll check the bank balance, but I don't think there'll be a big GPSr give away down here any time soon... Public talks huh? I'll mention that to the group... We've done the newspaper story. It was well received (I know, I wrote it and got a bunch of calls and emails) but it hasn't had a huge impact in terms of numbers... (And let's try and keep the *****y comments on that to a minimum.) ___________________________________ who's got the pig? -

thanks for the thread - seems like you're living in my town but in virginia... i would have thought hunters and fishermen too... but they're usually pretty involved in hunting and fishing... especially now... ___________________________________ who's got the pig? -
We have a problem. There aren't enough local cachers to get our cache counts up. (And I mean hidden cache counts up) With only around 10 of us in town, and just 3 to 4 doing this actively, we need to find people with GPSrs. I have yet to be able to persude a friend to buy one - they usually just take mine, or come with me if they want to cache. Anyone been in a similar situation and found a way to get numbers up? Fast!!! ___________________________________ who's got the pig?

... is impossible here because no-one is putting in any blinking caches!!! i keep telling my husband... we've got to move! ___________________________________ who's got the pig?
