  3. I have just read this thread, and I have to agree. I think there should be a basic (financial) hurdle to join in, if just to avoid hordes of folks signing up who either have mischief in mind or prevent too many sockpuppet accounts. I do acknowledge Jeremy's intention to keep it free, but that could be achieved by providing additional value of the value equal to the signup charge, like eg giving each paid-up member free credit at the online store(s) to buy equipment, coins etc.
  4. Jsewwney1: It would be useful to know where you are (or will be soon), so that we can see if we can help...
  5. If the ability to 'share' bookmark lists is considered a feature, why then is there no way to search for lists? I would like to find lists of recommended caches for locations I travel to. While such lists do exist, it is hard to find about their existence, as one needs to look through several (posisbly hundreds) of caches to see what lists they are on, before discovering the useful lists.

    Wikimapia?

It looks like Wikimapia is much better developed than OSM in some places (new Delhi). Could Wikimapia be added as a map option for gc.com? attached is first the a wikimapia view of one area, and for comparison: OSM: MapQuest OSM Cycle Map so having Wikimapia woudl be a nice addition..

    RoadID TB

I have sent somethng along those lines to RoadID too..

    RoadID TB

I think it would be cool if GC.com and/or RoadID sold TBs with the TB/tracking code on one side, and medical tracking information (see RoadID.com) on the other. The ROadID could then double up as medical ID device to be worn on the person, and could be used as a personal dipping TB etc.
  9. It would be nice if one could a) add solved puzzle locations to the map (this may be doable by having a feature to display a 'list' on the map, and have a field to add 'real, GZ locations' to that) and have a feature like Google earth's ruler to measure the .1m /161m (or a feature to show that circie around any known cache location on the map with the added ability to turn off puzzle caches' original location That would help in determining whether a location is usable.

    webpage titles

And another long-standing request: Currently each page/tab on Geocaching.co (other than cache pages themselves) seem to have 'Geocaching > ...' in their title. If I have several tabs open, they all look the same, due to the redundant infoat the beginning of that page. WE already know that those pages are gc.com pages due to the icon logo ! Can you please change the <title></title> text such that the most significant (changeable) info is on the lef, like: "Your profile - Geocaching" "search .... map results - Geocaching" "Notifications - Geocaching" "Pocket Queries - Geocaching" "<name> PQ - Geocaching" (for the individual detail page of that PQ!) etc
  11. Here is another long-standing request many have made: Please allow one notification to contain multiple cache types, so that one does not need a separate notification set up for each. It can't be so hard to allow one to select multiple values from a list, right?
  12. or to generate a KMZ file, which users can locally load against a map?
  13. Is there no way to make the browser execute the Google maps request, so that it does not come from your site all the time?
  14. The new maps are also almost useless here (very far outside the US). Heck, the locally made Garmin maps (www.malfreemaps.com) are much better than what we get now, but nothing beat the Google maps. GC should at least enable them for premium members.
  15. I know this has been reported over and over. The new maps are broken, broken, broken. I have a PQ which displays a certain subset of caches only. When I go to my 'pocket queries' page, and click on the map icon of that PQ, the new map opens up, but it shows *everything*. Sure, it does place a '(!)' speech-bubble on those caches that are part of that PQ, but due to the proliferation of all the other caches I am *not interested in right now*, that map is useless. On the left-hand side are 'layers'. They show *all* my pocket queries. And no, there is *no way* to then go adn disable all the other PQs from being also shown (clicking on such a PQ only makes it reload). Duh. Worse, when I then switch to the old maps in thsi case, it loses the information that I was only interested in that one PQ and still shows everything. sigh, when is GC.com going to make maps usable again by a) allowing only the old maps to be used not forcing the display of *all* caches in the area on users whose search only returned a subset?? This has been reported for more than a year now, and the lack of attention by gc.com is annoying.

  18. Hi Sejtam, Actually, I'm very interested to find caches before planting any per your suggestion, but the nearest I could find near my area is in Kuala Terrengganu (None in Kuantan). But I think you Lands End (light house) cache is very interesting... Is it still there?? Is so, I may try it when I'm going to the south later this year. Yeah, I see, Kuantan is very underdeveloed, cache-wise. The problem is the usual one: No cacher to place some nice ones, and if one (like you) gets interested, then there is no-one there to find them (except the occasional tourist), so the interest wanes quickly. It's not easy to get a critical mass going in an area. But that should not stop you from trying (after finding a few). Likely when you place your first couple of caches, someone will go for the FTF, though by experience in Malaysia even that can take some time. There's simply not enough cachers around yet. Your nearest ones would be NWNW 119.4km Traditional Cache (1/1) Size: Not chosen 2 Sep 04 Taman Negara II by Wanderbug2003 (GCKEK5) Malaysia 10 Aug 10 SESE 142km Traditional Cache (2/4) Size: Regular 9 Sep 03 Expedition Robinson by Wiebe&Marjon (GCGX6F) Malaysia 27 Jul 10 both of which are quite old, but apparently had recent finds, so the chances that they are still there are good. I think your best bet would be to go and try a weekend in KL. And sorry, Lands End is inactive currently. I hope to find the time to replace it again soon..
  19. I would not structure it too much. nickname, date and some free space for people to be creative in their logs will be good. But I see you have not logged any finds yet. I would suggest you go find a number of caches first, to get a feeling of what works, what doesn't (pay attention to caches that have been muggled, and possibly why)...
  20. Worked fine for me. You have to go to 'Your collection' and then you can move items to your inventory. It's a pain though. I wish one could a) dip items from a collection (note: 'a' collection, I'd like more than one with diff protections) move them quickly, instead one-by-one
  21. GC22GK9 Rumah Api is back in business and still waiting for an FTF.
  22. I have one PQ where I set 'uncheck day of week after PQ runs', but the day never gets unchecked. Is this broken?

    TB update issue

As seen in the attached, this TB says 'Recently Spotted: In MacDoggers' but the logs clearly show that it was retrieved from there. (I actually found it in another cache, but it seems the ones who retrieved it forgot to log it into there'). IMHO it should be shown as 'In the hands of: witch_way' , no?
  24. Ideally, we could have: 1. many small collections (I'd call them boxes of trackables) 2. each box could have some attributes: 1. no-grab - items in this box cannot be grabbed by others (but the TB owner should always be allowed to!) 2. keep - items in this box can be dropped into a cache but stay in the box also! 3. virtual: keeps a virtual record TBs that really live elsewhere (a bit like the watchlist) 4. notify - email me when something happens to TBS or the box Users should be able to set up several of these to organize them as they want. Say limit them to 15 or so .. 3. boxes should be able to be dropped into caches in one go (ie all the items in there go into the cache in one go). if the box was marked 'keep' the items stay in the box too (virtually) and should be retrievable only by the holder (box owner), again in one transaction. If the box was not marked keep, the item will move into the cache for good. This would of course require that items can be in caches only for show (while staying in the box) for the purpose of being discovered only. Boxes should be dippable, dipping all their contents into/out of a cache for mileage purposes in one transaction. This way I would organize myself as follows: 1. a box with my 'collection', marked [X] keep [X] no-grab which I keep my items I like to show at meetings etc. 2. a box 'mileage' with my mileage markers, also marked [X] keep [X] no-grab that I dip into each cache 3. a box 'for the next hotel' into which I place items that I need to drop into the next TB hotel. marked [ ] keep [X] no-grab, I can drop this in one go into the next TB hotel and the travelers would go into the cache and out of this box. Advantage: I don't forget logging single items. In fact, I'd likely have a small pouch in which all the items rest physically, so even physically depositing them is a one-step op. 4. a box 'my TBs' marked [X] virtual in which I keep my TBs that I have sent out. [X] virtual will mean the item realy lives in some caches somewhere or with some other cacher, but this box keeps track of them. 5. another virtual box 'nice TBs' where I can keep a virtual link to some other TBS I found over time and want to keep an eye on (like the watchlist for TBS).
