  1. Wow! what a great link! thanks again for the suggestion of the Lacrosse charger! Charger ordered. Maha2700maH's ordered.
  2. That lacrosse charger you linked looks pretty nice! I like the MAHA MH-C9000 charger, but that lacrosse seems pretty similar, and is on sale right now with 8 extra batteries for my other junk! thanks for the help guys. looks like I am a Lacrosse charger man! tcatkins99, did you get the Lacrosse brand batteries with your charger?? are they any good?
  3. From what I gather, the Maha Powerex 2700Mah batteries are the highest rated around here, and I think I will be using them unless someone has any other suggestions.... But when it comes to a charger, I realize a cheap-o charger will not cut it, so I am looking at the Maha chargers, and there are a bunch of different ones! http://www.thomasdistributing.com/mh-c204f...charger-buy.php http://www.thomasdistributing.com/mhc401fs...ternational.php Those two look to be a descent price, but what do you guys use? Now I will probably be using the charger to recharge my other batteries as well, since right now I have a cruddy energizer one I got a while back, but the main focus for this charger will be for my GPS. I also was wondering what kind of charge times you guys are getting? will those 2700maH charge in 3 hours? 6? overnight? As much of a battery hog the colorado seems to be I would hate for my charge time to be longer than my run time... Also, some models can be used with a 12volt adapter and recharge in the car, has anyone used one of these?
  4. Do like I am doing right now. dig in your closets and sell anything of value on eBay!! I don't THINK the baby needs that childproof gate on the stairs anymore.....and my daughter doesn't play the Nintendo THAT much.... I should be to my goal of a 400t by this weekend!
  5. Can you point me at one of the garbled text geocaches. I'm curious if it is because the HTML is illegal. --Marky check the screenshot in THIS thread http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=187674
  6. When I called Garmin about this last week, I was told that there are no plans that he (the guy on the phone) knows of (and he SAID he had the schedule of releases until "the end of next year") He could have been giving me a line....but the Garmin CS folks seem pretty solid so far.
  7. That's how I do it with my legend too. Mark a point, then edit the lat/long.
  8. I haven't heard of the lowest price place, but they have an 800 number to contact them. Call em up, ask a few questions. Double check the return policy (they do not list GPSr in there stated policy, but note that it looks like MANY things are ASF!) If you get any vibes go somewhere else. I can't say I haven't bought stuff from small time shops and took a chance. If they don't send it, you can always cancel and re-credit your card or paypal....... but is the 30 bucks you are saving WORTH the potential troubles? You have to decide for yourself. I TOO didn't think the REI thing was for me... but I tell you...for return policy ALONE I would buy my 400t there. the 10% back doesn't seem like much, but every bit adds up. I have seen people BUY their Colorados with the credit form 2007.....and they are not BIG TIME outdoor people. that 10% just adds up. I just wish there was one around here.
  9. yeah it sucks. so does paying $8 for a beer at the ball game, or $35 to get popcorn and soda for the movies, or $49.95 for an oil change at the dealership that is needed to keep your extended warranty. You just have to decide if it is worth the investment to you. Not everyone values everything the same. The cost is what it is. No matter how much we hate it, it is a set-in-stone constant. Some people will never use the maps on their PC, some will use them even more on the GPS. Some people just want the 400t on the sticker instead of the 300. (bigger is better!) So is having a beer at a ball game, or a movie date with my wife, or piece of mind for my car worth the price? It is to me. Maybe not to you. But that is what makes life a fun ride. P.S. Sorry to get all philosophical, but I haven't slept in like two days, and I just watched Karate Kid....
  10. where did you find it? It would help people be able to let you know if they are reputable or not if they know the name of the place.
  11. thanks for the info guys... this look like a viable solution to tide me over until 2009 CN comes out at least....
  12. I am wondering how well this would work? I already have Metroguide from my etrex legend, and have been reading about metro gold making the maps routable. How well does it work? is it a solid replacement for CN?? how does it overlay with topo 2008 that comes on the 400t? How is the accuracy of the maps?
  13. Now this is asilly question.... but my wife wants to know if these maps can use the DEM data (like on the Colorado 300 and 400t) to make the "pretty" shaded maps?? she doesn't care about the stuff, just how pretty it can look. (I'm not gonna argue with her, because the "pretty" maps are the reason i finally got her talked into getting a Colorado)
  14. Hey no worries... I have had my legend for 4 years, and I just did the cursor thing this weekend.... took me 3 hours to remember how to put it back...I ma just glad I have some USEFUL information on here for a change instead of all the questions I usually ask!
  15. Because the pile of smaller ones are FREE (since I already own them) have to cut corners somewhere when I am spending over $600 on hardware and maps:)
  16. I believe that is you problem... it is easy to change it by accident and I do it all the time on my legend.
  17. Great. I have 5-7 1gb and smaller cards lying around, and was wanting to make sure if it all fit on the internal memory just right, I can always throw in a 512 or 1g if I need more GPX file room...or for other junk like that.
  18. I'm still buying based on their reputation. even AFTER reading this post, it seems to me, that while turnarounds have been slow (I understand your anger) at LEAST they are making sure to send you out a CORRECT WORKING unit and not juts another broken one out of the bin. Think of it this way, if they sent you junk back...you would have had to return it again... and be in the same boat, but with TWO defunct units fueling your ire. Yes, things aren't perfect. Yes, they should have caught some of this stuff early, Yes, they ARE trying to correct it. I have yet to see ONE person with any of these issue be told it was "user error". So yes I WILL still buy Garmin. I WILL still buy my Colorado. And as the creedo of ALL early adopters, I will hope the kinks get worked out soon. I'm not saying your anger isn't justified, just maybe trying to put a different outlook on your problem.
  19. but 2009 MIGHT be a different size... just something to think about.... I know I am....
  20. XopherN71 called Garmin about this yesterday, and said this.... "I just called, no can do... best advice they had for me was to send it back, oh well."
  21. I believe those sizes are for the NT version. The non NT version uses more space. I guess I should have specified the North America Version NT version. But with those answers I assume that yes it will fit. Makes my decision to get the 400t instead of the 300 better all the time.
  22. I know some of the 400t's only had 3gb, but on the 4gb versions that have just over a GB of free space, will City Nav 2008 fit in that space?? I think it will fit on a 1GB SD card so I would assume that it would, just curious if the numbers adding up in my head match the real world.
