  1. Hi there, You may want to check the PN-40 wiki that you can find here. There's also a lot of info to be found here as well. Hope this helps.
  2. An announcement less that 10 hours seems kind of abrupt. Don't you think an announcement a few days befor the planned downtime would be more appropriate? What about all the premium members who don't frequent the forums much - how are they to know?
  3. They are supposed to come preactivated, they are owned by JEEP. If you're getting this message when you try to log it, The Travel Bug you requested does not exist in the system, Then your pretty much screwed. There have been several shipped that are "not in the system". Like the one I got Well I have a bad one too. I sent an email on Monday the 2nd and it's now Friday the 6th and I received no response from Groundspeak. I sent another tonight. We'll see what happens. No response is very surprising.
  4. Tried it again, same message:The Travel Bug you requested does not exist in the system OK it is July 1st and mine should be trackable but it still is not. There are a few of us that are having this issue. There are no '0' or 'O's in mine either. I will send an email as well to see if/when this will be fixed. If anyone who is having this same problem and it gets resolved then please post how it was resolved. Good luck!
  5. Same with mine. It has been this way since I received it 4 days ago. I figure I'd wait until the 1st to see if it becomes active.
  6. I just purchased a Map60CS & the Auto Navigation Kit from GPSCity & the version of City Select was v6. This loaded on its own & with no problems. I had no previous versions on my HD since this is my first Garmin. This was obviously not an upgrade CD so the vendors are offering the complete version 6. I've also updated this version to 6.3 which is the latest offered from Garmin. I hope this helps any new purchasers of City Select. Make sure you understand what you're buying before you buy it
  7. Robert, I've been using ver1.1.1 for the past year to convert .gpx pocket queries to .wpt for Mapsend and it works great. I just DL'd the latest version 1.2.3 and everything works great but I did notice that there are some different icons for the POI on some caches when they are loaded into Mapsend Topo. In the past they used to be all crossed boxes but now there's different icons like binoculars, carrots & fish etc.. which is fine with me but I wanted to know if there's any significance to the new icons & their particular cache. Thanks again for a helpful program. Rich
  8. Very Cewl! I thought you could only load regions to the sd card. Thanks Warriorrider - I learned something new today!
  9. robertlipe- How can you store 3102 waypoints? I thought the MeriPlat stops at 500. Are they stored in groups of 500 on an SD card? SimiRich
  10. I bought S&T 2004 from Costco & received the rebate in the mail. I think the total I paid after rebate was $19.95. Not bad!
  11. I usually poke it with a stick if I'm unsure but carrying a pair of gloves in your backpack is a good idea.

  13. Since everyone is talking about using them on the plane, I guess that passing your GPSr through any X-ray machine is not a problem. Is this true?
  14. I have a Meridian Platinum w/128Meg of ram just like TurkeyVulture.
  15. On the GPS navigate to Menu -> Map Setup (or something similar - I don't have it in front of me). In this menu you can tell the MeriPlat what to or not to display.
  16. quote:I am almost scared to start this hunt. Knowing me, and knowing how addicted I can get to anything envolving the outdoors, this could become my second obsession. ha! Just give in JJ, don't hold back ( I know I couldn't) Besides, when you go PP tent campin, you'll have that many more caches to find. We'll expect to hear that you bought your first GPS in the next couple of weeks!
  17. I noticed a HUGE slowdown last night as well. Much better today
  18. TeamSJ1 - thanks for the tip on GPXview. I've never heard of it until you mentioned it. I DL it & put it on my Axim. It seems much easier to navigate. Thanks!
  19. I have been doing Pocket Queries and DL them to my Axim. You can read the .loc file by using MobiPocket. I use this & my MeriPlat GPS to find the cache.
  20. The only programs I use to DL to my MeriPlat are Mapsend Topo & EasyGPS. I'm not sure of any others & these suit me well.
  21. OK - so playing around w/GPSBabel, I was able to DL waypoints from Geocahing.com as a .gpx file and then convert them as a .wpt file to load in MapsendTopo. From there I could load right to the SD card instead of the GPS. I don't particularly care for the connector on the back of the MeriPlat Oh well! I also like to see them in the Topo map. I tried to cut to size the Dell Axim screen protector to fit the MeriPlat but it doesn't work. It's sucks so I ordered a dozen from http://www.StrongEngineering.com- Thanks embra - we'll see how they work.
  22. You people are awesome with the info. Thanks so much. I'll check out GPSBabel & play with it. I have done pocket queries & that has worked well on my Axim. I also have some screen protecters that I may try to cut to size. If that doesn't work I'll try embra's link to Strong Engineering. Thanks for all your help! My wife & I found 2 caches today ---> but with 8 kids
  23. Hey Brad B - I just started caching recently as well and bought almost the same setup as you did. All of it from Amazon.com. I bought MapSend Topo instead and am very happy with it. A few questions though: I'm trying EasyGPS to DL waypoints from the net and I want to know if you can DL directly to an SD card writer. Anyone have any experience with this? Can you also have the waypoints show up on your GPS with the description name instead of the alpha/numeric cache name? Has anyone put a screen protector on their MeriPlat & which one?
