  1. I just voted Good luck everyone! I've got a question for ya El Diablo... How many Geo-Hiking Staffs have you ever made?
  2. I would have no obtion to buy at least 5. That would be totally awesome!
  3. Those cache pages are really cool. I've got some HTML experience under my belt. I'll give it a shot next time

Anyone who wants their avatar to be included, e-mail me. I'll make the page display the avatars in a random order each time it is displayed so there won't be more views of the people at the top of the page. http://www.geocaching.com/email/default.asp?aid=63141 the URL to the avatar and the URL to a fullsize version (if you have one). --Marky "All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer with a backlit GPSr" That's totally awesome Marky. That'll make this much easier
  5. I'm very interested in seeing how this turns out That Geo-Hiking Staff would look mighty fine with my other Geocachin' gear

There's nothing like a bucket of BULK doot...
  8. I love opening the cache and thinking "What's inside!!???!? What's inside?!??" Also, I like the fact that I've learned of so many new locations. I love my GPS. It's just so cooool If there's any excuse to use it then I will, so Geocaching is perfect.
  9. I started a long time ago and then moved to Germany. I was under the impression that there were no caches in my area. I put in the cords once and did it wrong. It cost me a few months of caching. Later I realized my mistake and got back to it. I've only got a few finds but I think it's an awesome hobby and it's lots of fun. I got whenever my friends and I feel like it. I'm not at all one of these 10+ cache per day people
  10. Windows 2000 on my laptop and Windows XP on my desktop PC.
  11. I think that joefrog has the coolest avatar I've seen yet. I think he should take one of these Geo-Hiking Staffs home
  12. I actually visited a graveyard cache today. It was certainly a cool location. I never knew such a place existed. It was ancient! The cache itself wasn't located by a grave, but at the trunk of a tree in the graveyard.
  13. quote:It needs to be line art..cartoons, drawings etc... It has to be something I can carve so photos are pretty much out of it. I think mine would be a little complex. Would it defeat the whole purpose of this if you didn't even carve the whole thing? Perhaps just a piece of it to make it easier? You could always just write "Cap'n Cache" Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself... If been thinking about it, and I do believe I'll change my name to Cap'n Cache. It's much better than my *former* name, Shukorb and now it matches my avatar.
  14. Presenting Cap’n Cache! Leader of the Cache Brigade, and forerunner in the quest to spread caching throughout the globe! We hand drew this with Photoshop. It took hours of labor! We had originally planned on using the infamous satellite hat in a photo. We even built a prototype. We ended up just drawing Cap’n Cache. We lack pants with lightning bolts and neither of us has a peg leg or a dinosaur foot… The raging muscles on the other hand… Cap’n Cache features a purple visor, which, of course, gives him unfathomable power above all other caching beings. The satellite hat is self-explanatory. He always has his trusty etrex at hand, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice! Tragically, his left foot was lost in a blender, which is unrelated to geocaching… His red cape (90% cotton, 10% love) was found in a cache in the center-most point of Antarctica. And the dinosaur foot is simply a minor birth defect. It does not inhibit his caching abilities in any way (if anything, it amplifies them.) P.S. I just added this as my avatar. It seems to take a while before it actually shows up…
  15. quote:Shukorb I gotta say your's would be easy to carve.Well, I wouldn't want "Shukorb" on it though. I'd much prefer the more difficult and complex version of my alias----> ??????
  16. *Turns on Digital Camera* *Fires up Adobe Photoshop* *Retrieves GPS* I'm in!
  17. Well, I've finally figured this one out... The entire time I was in Germany I was using rechargable batteries, which were giving less power than my good ol' Duracells. I put in some Duracells while in Germany and it got a good reading just as fast as in the USA. So, there you have it. I guess all places are probably the same. Just don't use recharables
  18. I've tried this before also. I couldn't get any signal on my Etrex though : The flight attendants didn't say anything. I'm actually flying home tomorrow (Oregon) from Germany and so I'll give it a shot again tomorrow
  19. What??!??!?? Back to school? I don't even have summer vacation yet and they're already trying to pull this "Back to school" stuff on me?? Unacceptable. I've been in Germany for my junior year in high school so my summer hasn't even started yet. I'm going home tomorrow though *phew* (over 24 hrs of travel ) Let the summer laziness and irresponsibility begin!
  20. If I were to buy this Re-Radiating Antenna would I have to alter my GPS in any way? How does it connect to the GPS?
  21. quote:The Etrex has a horizontal patch antenna. Which looses reception if held vertically.I honestly never knew that. I've always held my GPS totally vertical. I assumed that the antenna was located somewhere in the top of the GPS. So I should hold it above my head horizontally when trying to get reception? Anyway, thanks for the tips. I'll check into it a bit more before any purchase takes place. It'll be a while probably though
  22. Hey everyone, I'm currently using a Gamin Etrex, and I'm looking to turn it up a notch. I'd like to get a new GPS unit that has a more accurate reading in the woods. I normally use my gps when I'm in the wilderness, so it's important that it is accurate in thick woods. I often times have trouble getting a reading in such conditions with my Etrex. Any one have any suggestions for a cheap (under $150) GPS unit that is more advanced and powerful than my Etrex? Thanks for any tips ; )
  23. I was born in Grant's Pass. I lived in Washington for a while after that, but I remember very little of it. We then moved to Eugene and still live there today. : )
  24. quote:Anyone up for a trip down to Eugene tomorrow? So is it actually located in Eugene? I'll have to take a look at this.
