  1. I listed a challenge, now all these people are giving it a thumbs down probably because they can't do it or something? It's a local challenge with a photo.
  2. So the log date is no longer going to be displayed? Just some ambiguous time span such as "about 6 months ago". Please bring the date back! Seriously guys? Some people need to see specific dates.
  3. Just quickly....http://shop.geocaching.com/default/trackable-items-2/geotriad-geocoin.html
  4. My goal was to find a cache of each type except reverse. Can't happen any longer, no way I can afford to fly to Brazil, I'm really not a fan of traveling abroad either. Maybe we should start one of those online fundraisers to raise some $$$ to convince Groundspeak!
  5. Depends on your budget. But any Garmin handheld is good.
  6. I've taken tons of trips on highways since I started caching. I don't like cache along a route because you specify a distance from the road in which to search (limited to 1000 caches) I can say .10 miles but I get caches like below the highway. Or I miss a rest area, because its a huge one that takes you in a little bit. My resolution: Pan the map. Yep the entire route, its fun doing this over a 500 mile trip too

    "Price: Free"

My guess is that Groundspeak, at one point, thought they might be able to create "tour" cartridges etc. that could be sold. The price could be removed, at least for now.

How does charging for a cartridge make the cartridge great? It doesn't. But you could charge for a cart that really has lot of things in it.
  9. I ran a PQ of 500 miles with the wireless beacon attribute, I got 4. One had taken the idea of making a puzzle. They posted parking coords for bogus, and you hiked a 1 mi trail until it went off.
  10. iPhone does some of that. Obviously it is more than a touch, has maps, and you can get some navigation apps. But not rugged. Your main answer, no. DeLorme's newest is pretty good from what I have heard. If you want a good GPS chipset, your sending caches from geocaching.com

    "Price: Free"

I forum searched this topic before posting, but all posts were from over a year ago. Any idea if we one day will be able to charge money for Wherigo's? I've got a lot of ideas, but some would be great if I could charge something like $0.99, like on the iPhone app store.
  12. I've found some of my own caches, I adopted a few and attended my event. But as goes for a cache you made, no.
  13. I once saw a LPC in a parking lot at a grocery store. It was literally the first LPC in the front about 30 ft away in a straight line.
  14. What Internet Browser version, System version, and what GPS do you use?
  15. http://www.petitiononline.com/creeks/ Please Sign. From NCOGEO.com: To: Ohio Geocachers ODNR has recently banned geocaching activities in all Ohio State Forests. The head of the Division of Forestry, Nate Kirk, verified this information today over the telephone. No public statement has been made and the date of this decision was not revealed. From this point forward all geocachers will be ticketed. The only reasoning they gave was that one person buried a cache in Zaleski S.F. and they caught a few people caching at night, so they banned it. We were invited to voice our opinions at their Open House on June 2, 2010 in Athens, Ohio. We are told that this is the only forum in which they will hear public opinion. That leaves us with only 2 weeks to pull together the Ohio geocaching community and present a strong defense of the game we all love! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=114654175242845 http://www.petitiononline.com/creeks/petition.html Write to: nate.kirk@dnr.state.oh.us Or give him a call at: 614-265-6711 Or visit the Open House: 6-8pm at 360 E. State Street in Athens
  16. The accuracy will always be off, that makes the game fun (not) Remember though, if the person marking the coords has a 30 ft acc and there coords are off by 30ft then the seeker will be off by at least 30ft or more depending on there acc. For example, one of my caches is 70ft from the coords for many. But my Oregon gives me good enough acc already
  17. Well you may not have read the disclaimer to the site, even though you agreed to it when you signed up. On every cache page by default is: And it says: And another warning: So for example if you die by falling off a cliff when caching, your responsible, so in this case, your responsible for the bites (stupid ticks)
  18. It's the main fact that the iPad can use the Caching app. It's like the iPod touch, it has a GPS if you buy one, but it can be used for paperless. I'm not using mine for paperless since its so big, but you see the idea.
