  1. congrats MikeDx , it seems that your finding more than just caches out there how long can he keep up this furious pace? Cache on MDX and GREAT job!
  2. sorry dan, I love Elkins! But this thread at this moment is the first wind I got of the meeting. We went to the Red River Gorge this weekend instead and bagged 4. --cache on!
  3. A canoe makes the cacher complete...try procanoe.com. That's where I bought mine. They sell blems and used boats too. Very reasonable delivery charge. They are in Greensboro and Raliegh NC. Good luck!
  4. I shall be there regardless of what it takes. (now that i have quit kicking myself after hd-dudes cache..btw..do not come in from the north!! haha) Thanks for the email Eli. I haven't checked the forums for quite some time. (heard you had to buy forum space from the NJ people) I have all the makings for another cache. Just having trouble finding a flat hike for MITW! Food for thought: Sutton Lake is the GEOgraphical center of the state. Cache on ! --CP
  5. OK, lots of ya have em. any advice for first time buyer. i.e. where to get one. checked tigerdirect.com wasn't that impressed. HELP! Gonna need one if I gonna take pics of these BM's
  6. good place to buy a canoe and they are currently having a 'used boat sale' go here
  7. what we need here is a conspiracy theory....while we go out and log our finds and even become competitive in doing so, we perform a function for NOAA in rocovering these benchmarks. In return for this NOAA then sends Jeremy a set $$$ amount for every one sucessfully recovered. That's why the advocating of digital images and such.

They are a snapshot of the NGS database at that time. People will just have to check the NGS website for officially submitted recoveries. rdw This was the first thing i looked for. was disappointed that my official recoveries didn't show up when linked to from the site.

  11. quote:Originally posted by SteveOr: Perhaps their business has changed in the last six months. Oh well. When I ordered my 76s in FEB! I had high hopes...didn't recieve it untill MAY 13!! And I wouldn't have got it then but I went to the FED-EX office to pick it up. By this time they were already going off EBAY. Needless to say I tried repeatedly to get in touch with the to see what the problem was. No response whatsoever! Giving them the benefit of the doubt:--> It is my honest opinion that they have grown, as we say in West Virginia, "too big for their britches". But that in no way excuses them from answering emails or the phone. At the very least be professional when you deal with the customer. I have raked them over the coals in other threads and this is the last I will say about them. They do deliver...just not very promptly. I hope they improve and prosper but my next unit will more than likely come from the gps store.com as they were courteous when i spoke with them. Woulda ordered from em but COULD NOT get in touch with advanced to cancel! oh well water under the ole bridge. All is well now. Good luck to all.

The compass is the BOMB just hold it level and line the arrow up with the bar and walk. You will find the cache! Really like this unit!

  14. took mine on a seven mile hike and geocache this morning. Heavy canopy, heavy clouds and alot of moisture in the air. Got WAAS and had NO trouble with locating the cache. Like much more than my 12map (which is pretty much identical to the 3+). Really like the altimeter and altitude profiles. Track resolution rocks too! Can get the whole state of WV and half of KY on it when loading TOPO's. Tho, I believe land features would determine amount of quads one would be able to load in a given area. The costal marine nav-aids built in are great too. -tide charts etc..-I believe that if I lived in the Carolinas, this would be the only GPSR for me. (no...I am not thinking of anyone in particular) Having used several different makes and model GPSR's I can confidently tell you that this puppy is at the top of it's game. The only Garmin for me....Good luck fish........
