  1. -here's my entry -with logo -at 50% I know I've sinned and made my logo hard to integrate into the universal background color... black... but hey maybe a lighter bk color might brighten things up a bit.
  2. no offense but some of you really set the resolution high on those self pics! lol
  3. they sure don't exist in the system thats for sure. I wonder if they realize how much frustration they're causing you by not logging their caches and TB finds online. Don't loose hope. Maybe they'll hit a cache soon, drop it off and the next to find will set it straight. The exact same thing happened to me. Its been 3 months and I'm still waiting...
  4. You e-mailed the cachers in question correct?
  5. In 2000 the sport was to find a container in the woods, sign the logbook, take something and leave something. Now it ecompasses finding places and things along with meeting people at events and moving trackable trinkets. How much should geocaching keep expanding before it isn't geocaching anymore?
  6. Navicache and Opencache do not follow all the rules Geocaching does. By this I'm talking about rules and methods in approving caches. Navicache approves right away and then looks to see if it meets their criteria. Navicache feels a little differently about virtual caches than geocaching does. Do you understand what having someone elses link to their site on your site means? It means you approve wholeheartedly of what they are doing. Does geocaching.com have any control whatsoever of what navicache does. The answer is no. If Navicache and Geocaching agreed on every point to a T there would really be no point to "another site". The fact that there are others means there are differences in the sites. Differnces in opinions on the way things should be run as I mentioned above. Lastly, Geocaching is the biggest game in town. It may seem like a monopoly because it has done successful enough to keep the majority pleased. Is it a monoply? No. Do they try and keep it as much of a monopoly as they can? I see no outreached fly swatter attempting to shoot other sites down. I don't understand why the biggest name in town is supposed to turn around and help everyone else it doesn't share all the same views with.
  7. hey I have an AOL cd tin I got in the mail and subsequently used as a cache. I painted it red, glued magnets on the back and stuck it sideways to the side of a Newspaper machine thingy. I think having it sideways has for some reason kept any dew out of the container moreso than if I had it sitting normal. Also the paint you use could also act as some sort of a small sealant for small amounts of water. My cache has been out for 2 months now through rain and cold and no complaints on wet logs yet.
  8. I still dont understand your reasoning sub igo, why should Groundspeak give you "free advertising" when they don't agree with what you are doing? Why would anyone promote something they don't agree with? And also why do you make demands and say you'll change if these demands are met? No one is holding anyone else hostage here buddy.
  9. I think it used to be a set of coords in the far reaches of Minnesota where TB owners could log their own TBs in and out for some major mileage (depending on how far away there were from MN) or something to that effect...
  10. what GPS do you own currently? It sounds kind of old no offense EDIT: Maybe its just the setting its currently in
  11. hey tell the team pnew gives them a big high five as well. Now take them all out to McDonalds like Kobe Bryant does in the commercials...
  12. Lets see now. I could go on a big rant right about here but I will back off a touch. A couple points and I will back out. Around here where I live work and hunt, Cougars hunt ELK for food, 600 pounds and Mule Deer around 150 pounds. And even livestock. I would think Blacktail Deer and some(?) Mule Deer(?) for the region in discussion. Around something like 100-125 pounds. A person on a bike something like 125-175 pounds. And damage? These critters back FIVE razer sharp Switchblades on each paw. And they are designed to use them in getting the goods to eat. As for being defensive. When? Getting something to eat comes natural and if they have not been conditioned to fear man or livestock, a young cat will get what it can when it can where it can. Just check the numbers pre dog ban verses now. I had better stop about now before things get hot. logscaler. logscaler I appreciate the lesson on mule and blacktail deer I'm glad you "held back" and didn't unleash the full frontal assault that is the "knowledge of mountain lions" by logscaler I was basically bringing up how powerful they really are. born at night but not last night.
  13. I think there is an option somewhere on top right of your TB's page if you are the owner to "recalculate mileage". I've also heard it doesn't always work like it should. Try it out though. Yeah its that drop down menu option and just press "go"
  14. yeah for some it doesn't but for some it does. I don't mean to sound harsh but I guess they paid their $4 for the tag they can do whatever they want with it. I think thats why a TB leaderboard for mileage has never been created on geocaching.com. If there's no real official competition then there's no way to cheat (that really didn't make much sense but oh well)
  15. its amazing to think something I've only seen in pictures (and not that incredibly huge) could so so much damage. And to think that it was a young mountain lion too. If it attacked two people (posibly the same one) I wonder why it could have been so defensive?
  16. Hey I hit that virtual about a month ago while passing through CS... very interesting
  17. I really have no idea how I started... suddenly I was just out on a trail... and I had this device in my hand... ...oh and everything was going in slow motion... then I got poison ivy and it all became real
  18. Go out and find you some caches man and join in on the fun then!
  19. Hey JMBella in 7 words and 7 words only what does WAAS mean to you and how has it affected your life?
  20. What do you do when he demands something outside the rules? You don't give it to him! Hydee's e-mail was enjoyable to read since it made a lot of sense. I agree that ignoring the problem is no way to go but I also don't believe in giving in to someone who demands that he be unbanned before he tones it down.
  21. very cool, well rounded article. I wish I could have gone caching with the reporter who interviewed me. Its almost like it doesn't click until you actually go out and experience it first hand. Thanks for the article!
  22. it still ceases to amaze me why you care about other people's bugs? Say I logged a TB at an event but did not actually take it. It was in my hands and there for, to me I found it. I go home and log it as found and the TB owner doesn't like it. He tells me to delete my log and I comply or else he deletes it with out consulting. It still shows up in my TB found list so I have easy access to its records to see where it goes next. In that respect the word "inflation" doesn't really make any sense. that was apart of your "in my opinion" right? Its cool and you are entitled to that but it sure does sound like you're exacting "your opinion" on someone who doesn't share the same. How about you do it your way and I do it mine. If I ever come across one of your TBs at an event, and end up logging it but don't move it to a cache (event caches aren't exactly a physical ammo can/container in the woods anyway) by all means delete my log and have fun doing so. Delete my undeserving pictures as well. That way my undeserving log stays out of your TB log and your TB's name still stays in my list of TBs found for future reference. Everyone's happy... unless you're still bitter that I touched your TB... undeservingly.
  23. my guess is you want this to be banner size like the old logo?
