I really lake the features of the Lowrance iWay 500C , especially the fact that it has a 20 gig harddrive and will play MP3 files. I would like feedback from anyone who actually has this unit. I cannot believe all the replies I got on this. Thanks everyone .........................!!!!!

If you were to get a gps for use in a car only for autorouting, which unit would you (or have you) picked. Also I understand some units have a hard drive inside rather than using a memory card. Since I do a lot of wide range traveling, I do not want a memory problem. Your suggestions and thoughts wuld be appreciated..........

Copy the entire cd ( or cd's )to your harddrive and use the setup file that is in the new folder that you just copied the cd's to on your harddrive. You will no longer have to insert the cd......

I just noticed that the latest version of gpsbabel, Released Aug 13, has a Mapopolis Mapconverter output file type now in its frontend program. Thanks to whoever took the time to add it......

Using Menu's..... View....Find or Control F If it's not there maybe version 4.01 did not have it...Garmin has a update (FREE) for the base program (Not the data),at their web site. You can do a lookup....with the newer version.

That was the problem...... Works like a charm.............

One problem still exists in the input into mapconverter...... Some gpx entries have a comma in the description entry itself and this adds an extra comma in the line and causes mapconverter to stop with an error. It does show the line number and the line itself, so it is easy to use notepad and delete the comma but is their any way to correct this in the style file ????

Thanks Alex.... Got it to work... Created a "bat" file to include the directory change and your command line so all i have to do is run the bat file... By the way the current new release version has support for xcsv format. An additional note for anyone else going to use this , on the command line, substitute your name for your gpx file for "877.gpx" Thanks again for your help.....

Just the old versions..... 3.xxx The newer version allows inputs via lat and lon but only only a one by one basis. No Import...No Mapconverter

How do I do this part....???? How do I get your style into gpsbabel...?? With that, I run a GPX or whatever through GPSBabel and spit out the mapconverter input with this command: gpsbabel -i gpx,gsshortnames -f 877.gpx -o xcsv,style=mapopolis_geo.style -F __mapconverter_in_geo

Using mapconverter, I have been able to get the waypoints into Mapopolis, but I cannot associate them with a map, in other words. all I get is a blank page with my waypoints. Can you tell me what to do to get them on top of a map....... With an example if you would..... Thanks in Advance

Since I have both...... The V is more far more accurate....Even without the external ant. I sometimes use the external ant on a coffee can lid (Ground Plane) and never lose the signal even under heavy tree cover (7 ft accurate) With map software included and autorouting to the cache...IT CAN NOT BE BEAT THE V WINS HANDS DOWN.......

Yes.... Uninstall it.. Copy the entire CD to the harddrive... Run setup from the directory that you copied the CD to...
