  1. If you get near to Cambridge, you might like to try 'The Last Post' GCGGQR - a particular interest to Americans?
  2. I er.. know 'somebody' who might have 450mB of maps and aerial photo's to swap...? I also recall that the author gave instructions for d/loading maps and naming/saving them manually. But ofcourse the site is no longer there... quote:Originally posted by Overlander:have you visited gpsmapmaster recently? ================================================ GPSMapMaster is no longer available. Due to copyright violations. If you have a copy of GPSMapMaster please delete it and be reminded that use of it is in breech of Copyright Law. Thanks for all of your support, Rick Hewes. ================================================ Pretty sad news really, big business strikes again. Gpsmapmaster, in my opinion, was the best gps software available for hiking/rambling. Incidently, I still have the installation package for this archived away if anyone wants to 'try' the latest version (v3.5a), it's 1.2MB. then just pop me a mail through my profile. Bearing in mind the above warning of course! [This message was edited by Overlander on August 05, 2003 at 01:43 PM.]
  3. Somebody in the 'states said that when people started staring at him suspiciously he just lifted his GPSr to his ear and started talking to himself as if it was a cell-phone...! They immediatly lost interest.
  4. I had similar problems in the morning - at one point I had NO satelites for a minute or two- yet I was out in open country. I had to give up on the series of micros until the afternoon when I had no problems.
  5. I recently was obliged to remove a black bag from a cache before I could get it approved. On reflection I think its better not to use them - and there are other ways to camouflage a cache.
  6. You might also be interested in the features of GPSMapMaster...! www.gpsmapmaster.co.uk
  7. Too short an event to be approved as a 'virtual' but if you're in the area and might be interested in a look-see... The British Antarctic Survey has a brand new Sno-cat vehicle parked on display outside its offices. It will be there until the evening of Saturday 21June. Please don't allow anyone - especially kids - to climb on the vehicle or its tracks! Coords: N 52 12.781 E 000 04.752 Cheers, AntarcticMan
  8. Do yourself a favour and check out a programme I just discovered called 'GPSMapMaster' its brilliant. Only costs £10 to register and worth every penny (If you're really mean or broke, the free download still works 100%). It enables you to download maps and aerial photo's from Multimap and save them as a continuous map on your PC. I've already grabbed most of East Anglia, and its fascinating to be able to look at your tracks on an aerial photograph! http://www.borange.co.uk/gpsmapmaster/
