  1. I use the iPod Touch with the iGeocacher app along with a Magellan 210. The iGeocacher app works great. I also use GeoJournal on my laptop. The way I use it is to get a weekly pocket query that updates all the geocaches within about 15 or 20 miles radius around where I live. (or where I am going to be) I then import the gpx files into my laptop with the GeoJournal app. Then I can sort them into different catagories etc. I then export the whole lot into my Magellan 210. I think it will only handle 200 caches at a time so I have to upload into separate files. Anyway I keep about 750 caches handy on there at any one time. I then upload the whole gpx file to my iPod with iGeocacher and all the same caches are on my iPod. Then whenever I want to look for a cache, I turn on the GPSr and see what is close to me. I then do a quick search in iGeocacher and look up the same cache for all the details. Works Great. Before that I was doing the FileMagnet deal and that worked but was very tedious and laborious. I only kept the appropriate files for caches that I knew that I would be looking for in my iPod. There was no way to keep 750 cache files in one FileMagnet PDF and be able to find the cache later, no way. The Geode app looks like it will be great also, Can't wait to see that. But for now iGeocacher is the premier way to go paperless. upnatom
  2. So, now that this discussion is frowned upon as being too commercial, what happened to the proposal quoted above to have this thread continue on GeoJournal's website? Geojournal's website doesn't appear tp have been ipdated since it was first brought online? Hopefully the developer is working on improvements and doesn't have time. It seems as though this came screaming out of the chute looking very promising but with a few known bugs I was hoping to see at least a minor update by now, especially since the trial periods are starting to expire, I am hesitant to purchase the software until the developer demonstrates how responsive to issues he is. Don't get me wrong, I think the software is great, but I don't like purchasing software that isn't quite living up to the promises it claims and I want to see how the next update is handled
  3. You don't exactly say if there is a problem or not. Yes, choose USB storage device. You don't really have to worry about filling in the space next to the USB storage device option. Mine says "untitled" and everything works fine. If you GPS shows up on your desktop as "noname" then you could just use that. Does that answer your question or are you having a specific problem?
  4. Does anyone know how to revert a cache that was marked "found" to the not found cactagory? I accidentally marked the wrong cache as found and I do not know how to undo the mistake other than delete the cache and re-import it into GeoJournal.
  5. My experience is that GeoJournal will upload all your caches whether found or not, even if you tell it to only upload the not found ones (unless you are uploading just one cache at a time)
  6. Another Glitch maybe? I am trying the "Itinerary" screen where I have a few caches listed. The "locate" button does not work if you have the "show finds" check box turned off. In other words the "locate" button only works if you are in the "All Geocaches" category with the "show Finds" box checked on.
  7. Hi, It seems that GeoJournal has the potential to be a really fine geocaching app. Can't wait for a couple updates to get things working right and smoothed out. Lots of good suggestions here. I also would like to be able to drag and drop multiple GPX or LOC files into GeoJournal. When I try that now it only accepts one at a time. Another thing that I noticed is that when I am using the "Send To GPS" option it seems to upload all my GeoCaches to my eXplorist 210 even though I have selected a smaller number to send. For example, I have 51 geocaches total and 20 of those I have found, I will deselect the "show finds" box to hide the found caches. That leaves 31 caches in the window. I select the "Send To GPS" button, the next window asks if I want to send the 1 selected option or the 31 total in the catagory. I select the 31 option. Transfer complete. I turn on the GPS and there are 51 caches showing up there, that includes the 20 founds that are not showing in GeoJournals window. What's up with that?
