  1. Montana SW version 2.60 (Webupdater)

Changes from version 2.50 to version 2.60:

Improved camera Low Light Mode (650 and 650t)

Improved route recalculations with 24K TOPO maps

Fixed intermittent voice issues when navigating

Fixed issues with orientation lock after a power cycle

Fixed intermittent issues with Address and Intersection searches

  2. This morning I loaded my Montana with 11950 geocaches and went out for a geocaching tour. The first thing I noticed is that It was problems to hit the right "button" on the lower part of the screen. E.g. when I tried to zoom with + and -, I got a red pin on the map. I can only zoom if I use the nail at the very bottom of the screen. I have tried to calibrate the screen twice, but it did not help. I find it strange if loading many geocaches has an impact on the screen calibration, but I will try to delete the geocaches to see if that changes anything. I will rather not do a master reset...

Another observation is that the Montana turned itself off several times during a 3 hour tour. This has not happened before when 5000 geocaches (and several thousands of POI's) was loaded.

  3. I have had my Montana 650 for a week, and mainly used it for Geocaching, and I am very happy with it so far. Also, I have got a lot of useful info by reading this thread. :D

Does the Montana's support Tourguide ?.

Until now, I have used a Nuvi 760 in my car with Tourguide alert for geocaches along the road (GSAK macro GPX_by_Cache_Type) and a 62S for the geocaching. What would be nice is to use the Montana the same way as the 760 and the 62S.

The Montana does not support playing TourGuide audio files.

  5. Any idea what may cause the error message "Invalid property value" when running the Spoiler Sync macro. This message appears, and the Spoiler Sync halts, at about 95%. It looks to stop at different GC's every time I run the macro, so I guess it is not caused by something wrong in a specific GC...

I have never seen that message. Is there any info in log.txt in the program folder?

    j

    Yes:

    99% Spoiler Sync v1.0.27

    Started: 13 mai 2009 15:49:45

    Invalid property value

    Finished: 13 mai 2009 15:57:31

  7. Since the Custom Alert Type option was introduced, I can no longer see the Child Waypoint icons on my 760. (all child waypoints are still displayed in the list of POIs) My own symbol files is selected and shows up in the menu after refresh. Also, the built in "Traditional" icon is displayed on the 760, even though I have selected my own symbol file. But, after that I tested with slice/dice, I unchecked "Slice and Dice Traditionals", and ran the macro again, my own traditional icon is displayed on the 760. (The right icon is also displayed when slice/dice is selected.

try v7.1.8 I have a bad com cable so I couldn't test it

Custom icons works fine with V7.1.8 Thanks :anibad:

  9. The hint display option was implemented some time ago, and I always choose to display the hint first. As many caches has a very long description, including several languages, I would also like to have an option to display the logs before the description.

I would prefer to first display the hint, followed by the logs, and optionally the cache description at the very end. Maybe all three could have similar options as for the hints ?

  10. I took my new Nivi 760 on a caching run yesterday and it was not a good experience. The Nivi locked up a few times and had to be turned off to get it running again. The voice directions were broken up many times and hard to understand. The selected route was complete turned off and had to be reset several times. On two occasions the person selected on the Nivi went blank and the defaults had to be called in to be able to select another person to give directions. All of this seem to occur with the alerts going off and confusing the Nivi. I could be wrong on the alerts being the cause, but the problem seems to occur after an alert.

All of the above problems plus the previously reported Spoiler problem.

Is anyone else out there using the Nivi 760? If so how about a report on your problems. I previously had a Nivi 660 and did not have any problem.

My 760 works perfect with this macro. It locked up often earlier, but that was corrected in a Garmin SW release some months back.

Thanks for your reply Catch. What Version software is on your 760? Might is 4.6. We may need to compare notes on screen outputs if you are willing. I'm glad to hear that the 760 is working on yours. Are you also getting spoiler pictures?

Again, thanks for your reply. Maybe I can figure out what I am doing wrong.

    I use 4.6 also.

I am glad if I can help in any way. Send me a PM.

  12. Catch and I have compared pictures via email of the 760 screen presentation of the spoiler picture and they are different. I have the actual pictures stored in the file but the right side of mine seems to be cut off and not allowing the thumbnail to be presented. I would post them here but just do not know how.

I have installed the latest software, version 4.6 and am up to date in that area. I have also attempted to check the same blocks that Catch does to make everything equal.

Are there any more 760 users on board having problems with spoilers or am I the only one?

Hmm, I have not sent you any email....

  13. Hi Catch,

I just purchased my 760 a week ago. Could you tell me what Software version you have in your Nivi 760? Did you update any software from the Garmin Site to your Nivi 760?

    Maybe that is my problem.

    Thanks

    Ken

    Hi Ken

I have used this macro with spoilers on my 760 for more than 6 months, and I have updated the software when Garmin releases an update. Current SW is 4.60 (released a few days back)

Maybe you have stored the downloaded spoiler pics in a different folder to the gpx, bmp and mp3 files ?.

As an example, I have a GSAK database called "Nordic", and all files to generate the POIs with spoilers is located in the "Nordic" folder:

    C:\GSAK\POI_Loader\Nordic

In the Advanced Options of the macro, the GPX Output Path is: C:\gsak\POI_Loader\

Load Spoiler pics is enabled and then Run SpoilerSync Macro.

    POI Loader Path: C:\gsak\POI_Loader\Nordic

  14. I installed v2.8.2 spoiler and ran the Macro again. On the 760 I can see a page for a picture image on the 760 but cannot select the image as no image button appears (only a GO button). I then went to GSAK/POI_Loader/POI DATA and can see the picture there. If I had an Image button on the 760 I could select them. Maybe the problem is only with the 760 and not the other Nivi units; however, I remember it working on an earlier version. What else can I provide you?

    Thank you for your help.

I've got a bad usb cable but got it working long enough to test the spoiler pics. They are working ok here but if you have changed the GPX output path the spoilersync macro will have to be rerun. Or you could move the spoiler files from the old path just make sure to copy them all including the .txt files and get them into the correct database folder prior to making any changes to the GSAK database.

If "POI DATA" is the name of your GSAK database it should be working otherwise you have the spoilers in the wrong location due to making a change to the output path.

    j

The Spoiler Pictures works fine on my 760.

  15. I have tested V5.7.2 with several databases, and the child waypoints are still the same as the parent icon.

Apologies Catch, I didn't have the Nuvi to test so I was looking at the XML and included symbols. I must have missed something. Will take a look in a day or so.

    j

After upgrading to 5.8, all POIs are listed 3 times on my Nuvi 760 (both parent and childs).

When viewing the map on a traditional cache listed, all 3 has the same icon, but when viewing the map on a child, e.g. Parking Area, the first in the list displays the right Parking icon, while the 2 others listed displays the parent icon.

Sounds like POIL is picking up some files from previous runs. One of things we loose when giving the option to change the output path is the ability to clean-up files from previous runs and prevent POIL from picking up old data and duplicates. (the very reason I resisted)

Yes, you are right. I can see that there are two subfolders from previous runs in my main db folder, and I guess POIL picks up from all 3. I also noticed that loading the POIs to the Nuvi took alot longer time than before.
