  1. I tend to collect the pins and key chains. I attach all of these to my caching pack as decorations or whatever. I also will trade for useful things, disposable poncho's, single use sun block, etc. I also leave these type of things.
  2. I am currently using just an old offbrand back pack, but it is a little big and the zippers are starting to pull apart. Now that i go paperless i dont need the larger pack but want more than a fanny pack. I have been looking at the Maxpedition stuff especially the "Versipacks" lately, they have several different size bags and come in several different colors. They are a little expensive but they are very durable and have some nice features. I think I will be getting one soon. You can get them a little cheaper on ebay if you like. If i can figure out how to do it i will give a link to thier web site. Maxpedition
  3. I have seen in several caches that there is a paper explaining that you have just found a geocache. It explains the game and so on. I would like to put one of these in my cache just incase it were to be found by a muggle. Can anyone tell me were I can get a copy? Thanks, Dave
  4. Go to Ebay and do a search for "geocaching". This is one i found in just a few seconds but I am sure there are more and probobly cheaper ones as well. Copy and paste this link into your web browser. Dont know how to make it hot! http://cgi.ebay.com/Geocaching-MINI-AMMO-B...1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. The cache at the South Pole is awsome! And all the others are great also. I can only hope to visit some of these in the future. THANKS FOR THE THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Whoever emailed me about if this was still available (foureggsaday) i tried to reply and it wont go through. Yes it is still available and i have taken off from ebay for you so if you can email me with a phone number so i can call you that would be great. Thanks, Dave
  8. I bought mine on ebay for 350.00 or 300.00 after the rebate. I think they would ship to you but I am not sure. Also I am not 100% sure but I think you guys are under a different satellite constelation than us. So that would mean you need a different kind of software in the unit its self. I could be wrong but you should check it before you purchase and waste your money. I know for sure they use a different one in Europe and I think you fall under it too. Good Luck.
  9. I can take money orders, I just use paypal because it is fast. I could drop the price to 100.00 but that is it, i have several people watching it on Ebay and it is to soon in the auction. Thanks, Dave
  10. I am trying to sell my pocket pc on ebay right now and thought that maybe someone on here may be interested as well. Bellow is a link to my ebay listing just copy and paste it into your web browser address bar. I am asking $105.00 with free shipping anywhere in the continental U.S.. I have used it many times for paperless caching and it worked great. Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...E:IT&ih=013
  11. OH SNAP! I wasnt aware of that, I just assumed that you would do the install on the PC and it would send it to the PPC. I am off to try it! THANKS!!!!!
  12. Yeah i made sure to downloade the PPC version, but i will go check out the FAQ's at smittyware.com thanks
  13. I have an Ipaq 1945 that i want to use for paperless caching. I was trying to use Gpxsonar and it doesnt use regular milage for some reason. So I decided to TRY Cachemate. 14. We love sig swag! We are currently using poker chips with a custom sticker with our caching name and city and state on them. They are kinda coll but we are looking for something a little more personal, interesting and cheap. Something we could make our selves would be even better. We leave them in any cache that they will fit but i think we may stop this and narrow it down a little.
  15. Thanks for the offer! I was just looking for someone who knows how to do it that could show me. I seem to learn better if im shown. Are there any events coming up that you know of that arent listed on here? Also i am going up to Barryton tomorrow. Any really good caches in your area that you would suggest?
  16. In case you hadnt noticed it. You can also get a $30.00 rebate on the Topo 2008 software. Amazon is the cheapest i have found and with the rebate and free shipping you end up paying only about $30.00.
  17. Is there anyone out there in the Lansing or St. Johns, MI area who would be willing to meet up and show/teach a newbie how to use his new GPSr and PPC. I have just purchased a new Garmin 60csx and downloaded GSAK. I need help on how to filter my poket queries send them to mapsource and then to the GPSR. I am having trouble and would love it if someone could actually take me through the steps and show me how to do this. I still need to purchase City Navigator and Topo 2008 so maybe i need to do this first. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  18. Try wearing a white goalie mask. Not only will the muggles stay away it helps keep those low hanging branches from jabing you in the face. And if your in really thick cover you can use a machete that adds to the affect as well.
  19. Just a tidbit of info. If the phone was off it would not send a signal!
  20. Here is the link to the post i was talking about! http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=62421 Also, you are find alot of city power and waqter station type stuff because it is not private property. In other words it is PUBLIC land and you are not trespassing unless you have to climb fences or what ever to access the area. If it is posted then dont go there. Hope this helps! Dave
  21. Dont get down! You have not yet trained your brain on what to look for yet. First check to see what kind of cache it is. Is it a virtual cache? If so you may have found it and dont realize it,there really isnt anything to "find". The cache owner wanted you to see, hear, smell or experience something at this spot, a monument, a nice view, the sound of a rushing river, etc. Next check to see the size of the cache micro-large, micro obviously being the smallest. This will help a little because the larger it is the less places it could be hiden. There is a post here somewhere and i will see if i can find it again and post here for you, it is a post of many different kinds of caches with pics. Some may consider it cheating but I think it just helps train you a liitle as to what you could be looking for. You will find every kind of container imaginable from the little keychain pill holders (micro's), 35mm film canisters, rubbermaid containers, ammo cans, etc.. Get used to putting your hands into small areas to feel around. Some containers will be camoflaged with just tape or paint and some are camoed so well the people who make them almost have to be Snipers. Now check the difficulty, you probobly dont want to try anything over a 2-3 until you get a better idea what your looking for but hey if you wanna try no one will stop you. Biggest thing is looking for those places YOU would hide something and look for that thing that just dont look right ( a pile of sticks piled TO perfectly, the whole in the bottom of a tree that has another stick stuck in it or laying over it, etc.) Keep looking! Its possible that a couple of them are missing but i doubt all of them are. Hope this didnt bore you and helps a little. I will try to find that other post anf leave here for you! Good luck and happy hunting! And remember the hunt is often better than the find!
  22. If you decide you want Topo 2008, I was just at Amazon.com and they have it for 59.10 and there is a 30.00 rebate. And you can also get free 2 day shiping so you end up paying only 29.10 Amazon also has City Navigator for 109.99 with free shipping.
  23. THANKS FOR THE LINKS! I have checked them out and and it is great that the $35.00 fee is being taken care of MiGo. I wish they would let us put caches on the game areas as this is what I have most around me and actually had a site in mind. Oh well! At least there is no fee and that is a step in the direction of being able to place caches on the rest. I have one state park in my area and it is quite large so maybe I can get a couple out there and we have a city park that I maybe able to get one into as well. Just gonna have to get more creative I guess. Tried to join Migo today but the application is not available on line right now, so I will have to wait. Thanks again for the links and Happy Caching everyone!
