ok what I have allways done is copy and paste any cache info I need into the memo section on my desktop then hotsync it to my palm. it has allways worked great. all of a sudden it does the hotsync with no error codes but nothing transfers to my palm. I did a soft and hard reset of palm and still nothing. Any ideas?

ok I got it and it was really simple. So here is how I did it incase anyone else wants the info. www.mapmyride.com it is a free site that is very usefull once there you can import all your routes, tracks, and waypoints from your garmin. you can also save it and open it in google earth if you want. works great.
-
so should I be able to save it with easygps and then open it in googleearth?

ok I have easygps on my pc but when I put a track log from my garmin in it it does not show a map just the pionts. is there any free software that you can view a track log on and it shows it on a map?

its not in a park. its actully a large wooded area we used to have weekend parties at in high school. I have never seen any signs there and have actually camped out there since high school. Its a great hicking and exploring place . -

if anything it would be considered an aqutic preserve. I read the info on the govn. website for the preserves and emailed the head person. I think it is ok but I wanted to be sure looking at the states map does not really show. -

sorry poor wording I think it is a great challanging location and I would have no problem maintaining it. I just do not want to waste time placing it just to go back out to get it. I also want to research it enough because I feel as the cache owner it is my job to follow guidelines as best I can ,not the reviewers job. -
hi I am still new at this and unfortunatly 2 caches I have placed did not get approved because I did not research properly and placed them in bad locations. Well I figured out how to check for nearby caches but how can I tell if I need to permission? I want to place a cache but not sure if it would fall under protected wetlands, I dont think it will but it will be a tough cache and I dont want to place it and have to go get it?

Ok I just found a t.b. that the owner wants it to travel to as many "extreme caches " as possible and I would like to help. My only problem is I dont know of any. I tried looking for caches with the hardest terrain rating but nothing seemed that good. Could someone please recommend a couple good caches, we are in clearwater, fl thanks

how come easygps will only let me send it as a track and not a route?
-
thanks downloading easygps now. Better is subjective, although I do have a preference for EasyGPS. EasyGPS is free. Mapsource may or may not have come "free" bundled with your GPSr. There are many other apps out there. A good, fierce googling session should reveal them (assuming the link trail I provide above does not).

thanks, I will need the software. is one better than another. free vs pay?

hey all, I just found a new website for maping, www.mapmyride.com. It is actually for cyclelist but I am using it to map routes for jetsking. You can save the files in many diferant formats including gpx. My question is how do I send the file to my garmin etrax legend.

are there any near clearwater,fl?

thanks for the advice palmetto. I did review the policies and I dont think my spot will violate anything. I am going to scout the location and try to make sure it is acceptable. hopefully they will be placed by monday.

I am still a newbie and I just dont want to put out a bounch of caches that noone likes. I currently have 2 hidden and they seem to be very easy for most. I have a spot that would require a good walk from parking, wading in water and some tough terran, I live in pinellas county,fl so there are not to many places like this around here. I plan on placing atleast 5 in this area because I dont feel the effort to get to the area would not be worth one cache. these caches would be great to take a small tent and light camping gear to go find. My question is are there enough people in the area who would be interested in caches like this?

Ok I was in a tottaly unfamilar area cahing yetserday and my garmin was acting crazy. while following the compass it was working fine untill I got within a few hundred feet of cache then the pointer would just flip to the opasite direction and say I was several miles away. I was in the car with no external antena windows up, but I use it in the car befor but then I was usuually driving slower and had the window down over the arm rest where I set my gps. Has anyone else had a problem with this ? I am going to to some on foot caches today to test it.

thanks there are several little islands that I freqent and I clean up the trash from others. I was thinking about a cache in trash out cache with some small trash bags in it.
-
I was thinking about placing a cache that you can only access by watercraft. what does everyone think about this? are the enough people that look for stuff like that ?
-
no not at this time. I just made a route on my gps and put caches in as stops. so I will see how that works.
