  1. Whoo wee, I know what you're feeling, did the big move to South Carolina 3 years ago (from England)

    Don't be bad about grits now, try them with cheese on top and a bit of pepper, Waffle house is pretty good once you get used to the idea, 24 hour breakfast has a lot to be said for it (excellent after a few beers)

    I have no idea where White Oaks is, but if you get the chance, don't miss the Tube Torcher cache in the Henderson area, it's a beauty.

  2. Personally, I don't like the lightweight S&W, I found it hard to shoot, probably because it was so light. I only put 20 rounds through one, but found I was shooting better with my Stainless .38 special, same barrel length (2 1/2"?)

    just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you

  3. Nothing to do with caching, but I'm rather proud of this one taken last weekend. I'm not even a yank, but felt all patriotic when this came down at the Winston Salem airshow

  4. This is SC calling, I'll run one for you here, but have a question, what sort of terrain/ difficulty do you want? I have a 3/4 I'm considering as my first cache, I could make it a part of that (2 hours round trip in the woods, but well worth it for the view) is this what you are looking for, or do you want it nice and easy?

  5. Sams club has a made in China Mongoose for about $130, buy it, try it, see if you enjoy it. If not, you don't have a $1000 ornament in the garage collecting dust, if you do like it, you've saved $800 +, and if you decide you enjoy cycling and want to upgrade, sell it in the classifieds, bet you get $100 for it in a few months.

  6. re the leaky pipe. When I was SCUBA diving I was made aware of a product called Aquasure (or similar) that might help. It sticks to about anything and is tough - it is like bathtub sealant on steroids. I fixed a hole in a drysuit with it and had no leakage at 50 meters (about 6x atmospheric pressure). I have seen it in outdoors stores here, maybe that will fix your leak.

  7. I'm all fired up about a cache in NC, looks like a toughie. Any fellow cachers know the one I'm talking about? e-mail the one I'm thinking of to me (so I know we are on the same page, and so we don't tell the whole world) if you fancy a crack at it. If you have a cel phone to call the ambulance, that might be good, if you cache with guns and knives, please don't apply icon_smile.gif

    See you in NC

  8. Hi all, I'm considering the purchase of a camelback backpack, but have heard reports of condensation issues within the unit. I hike with camera gear, which doesn't really appreciate getting damp, do any of you use these things? are the packs dry inside on hot or damp days? or do they suffer from condensation? Thanks, Greg

  9. Help me out here, this thred is rather long at 5 pages, I red a good bit of it but please could you answer these questions, it may help other latecomers too;

    1. are the prices on your website (in red) the prices GEOcachers pay, or are the discounts on top of these?

    2. What 'specials' currently apply? (discount on extras, free dryers?) and what 'code words' do we use on the order form to ensure we get them?

    3. the Motherlode - I carry a quantity of photography equipment when hikeing/ GEOcacheing, do the compartments stay dry or is humidity/ any leakage from the bladder likely to intrude?

    4. Is there a larger product than the Motherlode? if so, same question as 3.

    Thanks in advance, I must say it looks like you are offering a great deal
