  1. Your profile reads "spearwood w.a" which means Western Australia I guess. The Geocaching.com maps don't work outside the US, you only see a grey background. The other maps (Mapquest and Microsoft MapPoint) work only at medium detail level, if you try to zoom in you get a "No data available" message. Jeremy promised last year to add better maps for the rest of the world: Adding Updated Maps Soon, Improved (outside US) Maps. But nothing happened. Maybe you should ask in a local forum how the cachers in your country handle this problem. Cornix Look at the maps for this cache (try to zoom in) and you can see the problem: GCJXG2 Edit: example added

In the upper right corner of the cache page there's a button labeled "upload images". After uploading your image a link appears in the lower left corner of the cache page. Click on that link to get the image URL, it should be something like: http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/e640fe13-a576-4ecb-bf02-919cc000d450.jpg Now you can use Brian's method to incorporate that URL into your cache description: <center> <img src="http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/e640fe13-a576-4ecb-bf02-919cc000d450.jpg" width="110" height="144"> </center> Good luck Cornix
  3. A google search revealed that "Holly Short" is a character from the "Artemis Fowl" children's book series (hence the name "Fowl Play"). In one of the books a special alphabet is used for a secret message, so I guess you have to read this book or find the code table on the web. I never heard of this before but it took me only 2 minutes to find the background information. Cornix
  4. That should be possible with the MS Streets & Trips "Import Data Wizard". See the Microsoft site for details: Import data and contact information into your map. Cornix
  5. Here's an older thread with Jeremy's replies: Photo Upload Notification, On owned and watched caches Cornix
  6. Your problems may be due to wrong datum, wrong coordinate system or the infamous boomerang/slingshot effect. Be sure to set your primary map datum to WGS84 and your primary coordinate system to Lat/Lon - DEG/MIN.MMM. Before you mark a position check that the sat coverage is good (5 or more sats locked / black bars) and let your unit average for at least 2 minutes (watch the coordinate screen). Cornix
  7. I think the trick is sorting the waypoints by name (and not by distance). Here's a walkthrough for the GPS V: HowTo: deleting all waypoints Cornix
  8. The latest GPSBabel version should support ov2 format: However, I don't know if this version is available for the Mac. Cornix
  9. The numbers go from 1 to 33 on the front panel and from 34 to 66 on the back. Cornix
  10. The word "MAGELLÁN" is written in a different font and the second A has an accent (Á). Looks like a toy to me. Cornix
  11. Somebody has just done it for you. Translated Stashnote Into Greek Btw. you know the rules for vacation caches? Cornix
  12. GSAK has special tags for UTM coordinates (%UTMZone, %UTMEast, %UTMNorth). It should be possible to load the gpx file into GSAK, add the UTM info and save it again as gpx. You can also write macros to automate tasks. But I'm not an expert on this. So you better ask this question in the 'GPS Units and Software' forum. Cornix
  13. One of the visitors posted a map. Maybe you took the wrong trail. Cornix
  14. If the quality is good you can post them at the Degree Confluence Project website. This should be the spot you visited: 56°N 5°W Cornix
  15. Read these threads for some details: Is Magellan's Meridian Platinum really that far off ? Boomerang Effect !, Have the explorists inproved? Cornix
  16. Just search these forums for "boomerang effect". Cornix
  17. Their profile says Stewartby/Bedfordshire (UK), so N52° should be correct. Cornix
  18. That's UTM format (WGS84 datum), see this conversion. It translates back to Lat/Lon (WGS84 datum) N 52°4.118 / W 0°31.507 (rounded) which looks OK. Cornix
  19. You may also have a look at the new MobileMapper CE from Thales/Magellan. It's the ultimate geocaching toy. Cornix
  20. This is the latest tool for pros from Thales (Magellan): MobileMapper CE. The price should be around $2000. Cornix
  21. You need to know the exact format that Streetfinder expects as input. If there is no documentation on that, I would place some waypoints manually on the map and export them to a file (if this is possible). Afterwards I would load this file into Excel and examine the headings and column order. Load your GPSBabel converted cache waypoint file into Excel, rename the field headings and rearrange the columns accordingly (if necessary). Then save the changed data to a file (again in csv format) and try to load it into Streetfinder. You can also send the exported Streetfinder file to robertlipe, so he can integrate that format into a future version of GPSBabel. Cornix
  22. Forgot your chainsaw? Customs lets man with bloody chainsaw, wild tale into U.S. Cornix
  23. The Streetfinder software from Rand McNally is able to import waypoints in csv format. With GPSBabel you can convert loc/gpx files from gc.com into csv, and after some tweaking of column names, order etc. it should be possible to load them into Streetfinder. Here's a description how to upload waypoints from Streetfinder to your unit: Downloading an address or a waypoint into the the GPS500/1000. Cornix
  24. Of all the Meridians only the Platinum has compass and altimeter. Cornix
  25. Give Microsoft AutoRoute Europe a try. You can export your waypoints with GSAK/GPSBabel in csv format (comma separated values) and import them into AutoRoute. It's also possuible to filter caches along a route. See Markwell's FAQ (the MS Streets and Trips solution). Cornix
