  1. Adding &latlongtype=decimal to the URL works at least for Germany. Cornix
  2. Looks like you have to use the UTF-8 encoding of 'ä': http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?u=Eselchen%26Radschl%C3%A4ger Cornix
  3. Translation: What's the waypoint (GCxxxx) of the disabled cache? Cornix
  4. If you select "From Origin" (for example from your home coordinates) in your PQ, the result is ordered by distance from the origin. So you get the 500 nearest caches. If you additionally select "Updated in the last 7 days" you get only caches where the description has changed or a log has been written in the last 7 days. Cornix
  5. Choosing another map datum makes only sense in combination with paper maps that use this datum. For geocaching you should always use the WGS-84 datum. The difference between co-ordinates in Australian Geodetic 1984 and the same co-ordinates in WGS-84 is only a few meters but for other map datums it could easily be 200m or more. Cornix
  6. As it is currently coded in the system a cache can only have one single owner (i.e. your friend). Even worse: because you are a co-hider, it's considered bad style to log the cache as found. So this cache will never appear in your stats. Cornix
  7. Looks like you have a user defined map datum selected with wrong parameters. Try to change the map datum to WGS84. Cornix
  8. Found this website while searching for other topo maps: Garmin MapSource Compatible Map of Japan with Topo. Cornix
  9. There are a number of websites like del.icio.us where you can store your favorite bookmarks and share them with others if you want. Cornix
  10. That's right. The Notepad/Editor on Windows XP automatically switches to UTF-8 mode if it recognizes any UTF-8 character in the file. You can see the current encoding if you try "File > Save As" in Notepad. Cornix
  11. MEFF: Most Esteemed First Finder see: JWDATAMA Cornix
  12. For Germany there's not much difference (aside from routing). But the maps for other countries (eg France or Italy) have a lot more details in DR. Cornix
  13. Try MapSend DirectRoute Europe. Here's a map preview page where you check whether it's good enough for your purpose. Cornix
  14. It's not possible to use pixel maps with the Explorist, only vector maps in Magellan format work. On the other hand, the Mapsend DirectRoute Europe map is very detailled for Belgium. You can use it instead until a topo map for your country is available. Cornix
  15. I read a while ago that the firmware of the BT-338 doesn't support WAAS. But maybe they've fixed this in the meantime. Cornix
  16. This bug is still not fixed for the SporTrak series! The current firmware (V 5.34) is almost 2 years old and I guess there will be no further update. Cornix
  17. Why not use International date format (ISO): YYYY-MM-DD. It's the recommended standard for the web. Cornix
  18. IIRC the Whistler Galileo is more ore less identical with the Alan Map 500. There's a German program called RRMap500Cache for converting geocaching GPX- and LOC-files (and some other formats) to Alan WPR-files. Maybe they work for the Galileo too. Cornix
