  1. Emailing the code would make it an ALR. You could make the ID part of the puzzle... maybe coords to the final or a clue.
  2. Sorry, Bigfoot... I don't think that I'm adding much to your footprint. We already did a lot of driving all over the state before we started geocaching. We did, however, buy a big ol' V8 powered Suburban that pumps out a good amount of CO2, so that helps. Thanks for popping in on the 10 year anniversary and giving forum dwellers a little treat.
  3. Your description is a little vague, but it sounds like a mystery or puzzle cache. There are thousands of "codes" used in puzzle caches. Some are well known ciphers and others are made by the cache owner. Some are simple and others will take hours or days or even longer to figure out. The best way to get started is to email the cache owner for a little help. Most puzzle creators will be more than happy to send you a hint to get you started.
  4. How close is close enough? I've considered this for quite a while. If I'm caching with a group and the final is 30 feet up in a tree, I don't have a problem with sharing the find regardless of who does the climbing. It the final is 200 feet up a steep hill, everyone needs to be there. So, what's close enough? 42 feet.
  5. And.... you can still solve the puzzle if it bothers you.
  6. Which one? Both. Or any. I couldn't find anything in the guidelines preventing me from doing this.
  7. I think I just hurt something from laughing. How long have you been sitting on that one, funny dog?
  8. I vote for bflin.... blfenj... flbnej... I vote for dog with glasses.
  9. I've never planted a cache. Since planting implies burying, I have to agree. Don't plant caches!
  10. Why must you be properly annoyed? Can't you be happy being just generally annoyed? <Bowing to the bow and hiding>
  11. Did somone forget to flush the OT? It looks like it's overflowing again. Oh, and
  12. Our area has quete a few "canoe caches". We didn't own a canoe or kayak, so these caches went unfound by us for quite a while. Another local cacher noticed that we had found everything except the island and river caches. He thought it would be funny to put out a series of canoe caches titled "Can Cat's Swim?", knowing that we would be unable to access these caches, much less be first to find. What he didn't know is that we had just purchased a canoe two days earlier. My wife and I got up early and took our new canoe out and found all the caches in the series. I was able to log definitivly that "Yes, cat's can swim". [] Sometimes being FTF is not only fun, it's a matter of principle.
  13. It's actually 98.7645 % I just changed my mind on the subject. What is the percentage now?
  14. Seriously? Less than one day after this goes into effect, we would have to weed through all of the "Bring Back the Micros" threads.
  15. I can't say for certain, but I would bet that the situation is the same in Florida as it is in Wisconsin or anywhere else.
  16. This leads me to believe that we might have something to look forward to (or to fear). Marc, you've been around forever (geocaching-wise.. that wasn't a a comment on age) and have seen more than a lot of us. What would you consider to be too dangerous? Oh, to answer your question, I dislike adding rules where common sense works.
  17. I think the blue fish might have hit on it. There may have been a cache at the same location that didn't get picked up when it was archived. Just guessing...
  18. You had me until I got to this line. What, exactly, are you trying to say?
  19. One would look a little silly holding that thing up to their ear...
  20. We do not! Ok, I do not. D**. might. Oh, and forgive me Father for I have sinned. I admit to Two arm chair virts One or two after-hours park visits No stolen caches, but I have re-hidden one MUCH better than it needed to be Stumbling on and snipeing an entire series of caches before they were published Making an intentionally mis-leading phone call to confuse and slow down another FTF hunter
  21. 118, but not keeping track... Wow, zuma! Sneaking up on 1K FTFs! I remember first meeting you on an FTF run. It was going to be your 500th. We were at 15. New caches in our area quite often turn into FTF parties. Even so, I'll quite often let one go by. Need to keep the noobs interested.
  22. You didn't leave the old ones, did you?
  23. After getting back home from out of state last weekend, Mrs. TBC found a package waiting for her in the mailbox. She was very happy to find a nice birthday mission package from Sweden. Lots of very cool stuff including two personal coins. Thanks Solan109!
