  1. That's easy - it's whichever one you'll use. Better to get the shot than not. I've used everything from a box camera to a Graflex 4x5 to a Vito B to a Rolleiflex twin lens and a Mamiya 645. My Nikon D70 is usually with me and so is my Canon S50. I'll take whatever I'm willing to carry at the time and I'll generally pack only one lens with the D70 when hiking - a 28-200 Nikkor.
  2. Are you wanting to know who intends to buy from or trade with you so you can plan accordingly? I'm done buying coins completely. I'll trade with my personals and any of the ones currently in my collection. When I'm done enjoying those (or if I get a decent offer), I'm selling them or giving them away.
  3. Thanks for the cointest and congratulations to the winners!
  4. ScoutingWV - it was simple for me. The Scouting program has always been a part of my family and that of many of my friends and associates. Between my father, me, and my son, we have 100+ years in the program. My father truly embodies the concept of "service to others". The avatar is tied tightly to my geonick and reflects things that mean a lot to me - my home state, Scouting, a game I enjoy in geocaching, my Brotherhood membership in the Order of the Arrow, and a compass to find my way.
  5. I'll have my personals with me for trades and some gifts.
  6. I've been known to put a pair of rain pants on to walk through briars in the summer. They pack small, briars don't stick to the pants, and I can take them off and get back to my shorts when I'm out of the patch. Less pain ...
  7. Interested in this also. I clicked the link, but I'm either not allowed to view the article, or the article doesn't exist. So sayeth the message.
  8. I think this project would almost have to have it's own site. Scout property is (mostly) private. In my council, and I assume in others, my council leadership screams about the potential liability of having anyone on the property that has not checked in to participate in one of the current activities, and/or is not a member of the program. If there was a ScoutCache site, caches located specifically on Scout property could be listed, membership could be allocated, and passwords ot access could be assigned, but you still have the need to get on the property. Those rules would vary by council and could be a tricky thing to navigate. Lots of benefits for Scouts though - another reason to visit a new location, themed caches that relate to the program, maybe tie it to an award of some type (similar to Earthcache pins), cross-unit challenges, everyone - Tigers to adult - can participate. Could also be tied to advancement, merit badge, and recruitment activities. May work well with the Girl Scout activities, too.
  9. Are there 2 threads for the same coin? No - Different topics and months apart.
  10. These were two threads and two different topics. One was in 2007 about having the coin made, the other was from a few weeks ago and it was a contest for folks outside of the US. Haven't been in here for a while, but is the intent to now have one thread per coin regardless of the topic? This contest has been over for some time - by all means close the thread if you need to.
  11. I think you'll enjoy it and bring back a lot of ideas. I was there the last two years and had to pass on attending again this year. Maybe next summer... Enjoy!
  12. Make one when you want to, when you have a design you really like, and when you can afford it. You can always look for opportunities to treat others as you have been treated - whether or not you have your own coins to offer.
  13. Thanks! But I'm too old to run. It was more of a waddle.
  14. Wow - I thought this would last longer than it did! Here are the winners: Scotland - Paganfrog Greece - Gatoulis Canada - Mickebush77 Canada - Scoutbound New Zealand - Keewee Congrats to the winners and thanks to everyone who sent their emails!
  15. Got your email - and thanks for the kind words.
  16. I'm in. I'll get something out to you as soon as I get back.
  17. It’s been a while since I’ve been on the forums so I thought I’d pop back in and have a little cointest. To the best of my knowledge there’s only one of my coins in the hands of someone that lives in a country other than the US. So, I figured I’d try to change that. No particular reason, I’m just sitting in a hotel room and this seemed like a fun thing to do. Here’s the cointest: The first 5 people that do not live in the US and email me their mailing address through my profile will get a ScoutingWV geocoin. Only one coin per household will be awarded, and anyone that already has one is disqualified (in case I was wrong about that whole one-coin-out-of-the-country thing). Remember – send me an email. Posting to this thread will not get you an entry (although you can certainly post that you sent the email). Sending a PM will not get you an entry. No cost to the recipients and no trades required. I only ask that you are a bit patient with the shipping. I’m currently traveling on business and will put the packages together when I return in a couple days. Not sure if you want the coin? Heck, I don’t blame you. Here’s a link to the original thread so you can see it and read about it. Good luck and thanks in advance for any interest!
  18. Scored a 324. Go Penguins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. My WW has them. If you're not in a hurry, you can order them online, too.
  20. Ditto. If I release a coin to travel then it's just like a travel bug. If I want to trade my coins, I'll do it in a way other than through a cache container. And yes, using all caps on a web page or email is considered yelling.
  21. Absolutely! I have some contact info for you if you'd like to email me through my profile. YiS
  22. Not sure, but I think Richard Hatch is still serving time in a minimum security correctional facility about 25 miles from me. Someone placed a cache there cache "Richard Cache" and I was FTF. The prizes were: 1) a t-shirt that said "IRS: We've got what it takes to take what you've got" 2) prison shower kit complete with soap-on-a-rope 3) prison breakout kit complete with a mask and fake ID It's since been archived. edit: I took the shirt.
  23. I think did 10 one day in New Mexico and Colorado. One of the best days I've had caching because it took me to GC19. A place I would never have gone had it not been for this game.
