The advertising aspect of this promotion does seem quite a bit out of synch with the overall spirit of geocaching, especially with the spreading of tokens, however there has already been a precedent established for promotional geocoins, for example: the Garmin Grand Opening Geocoin.

A quick way to find out how many geocoins are out there already would be to, "Search for a Trackable Item by Name" using the following Name: EatStayPlay Geocoin. There are several possible reasons that caches have coins listed in them, that are no longer there. The coin has been picked up by a traveling cacher who hasn't had a chance to log it yet. The coin has been taken by someone who intends to keep it (could be due to theft or ignorance). The coin has been moved to another cache and never logged (there do seem to be a number of cachers out there who move 'em but don't care to take the time to log 'em). The cache itself has gone missing and since been replaced (in which case the cache owner should have marked the coin "missing"). The coin has accidentally been dropped or fallen from the cache unnoticed. As far as Coins getting stuck in caches and never picked up... I think there may be a growing occurance of stress to cachers dropping coins off in caches. They feel guilty if the coin they moved gets lost or stolen and therefore are reluctant to pick it up in the first place.

I found a conspicuous envelope on my desk early this morning (must have arrived earlier in the week) and when I opened it, I found: a beautiful postcard and note from Mount Whitney and... a White Look Twice Geocoin - Motorcycle Version! Thanks Robert!!! This Look Twice Motorcycle in white is so cool... I'd love to hang onto it for a while to show at events and send out some yellow versions in the meantime. I got several last year, kept three and gifted the rest out to friends.

Locally, there's a computer/electronics chain called Fryes; besides all the laptops, cameras, stereos, etc., they also sell parts (all sorts of small electronic parts for computers). In that section, they carry a huge selection of ZipLoc bags, ranging from about 1 inch square and up for tiny electronic parts. You may want to look into a similar electronic parts store in your area; they may carry small ZipLocs too.

My two Nickel/Blue Police Call Box Geocoins arrived today and they are just what the doctor ordered. Love the activation codes.

The glitter red and glitter silver are very eye catching!

These coins sold like hot cakes (great design)! I checked back on the site after my previous post, just to see how fast they were going and the very last of the glow coins (the Darkest Dreams Geocoin Orange Night LE) sold at about 11:30 am PST... that's just one half hour after they went on sale! Congratulations still-hide on a well done design!!! The sales speak for themselves PS - There are still regular edition Darkest Dreams in stock.

I was on board right at 11:00 am PST, and the white XLEs were already gone as soon as the page uploaded. They must have gone in one second (or something)? Anyway, all the LE and RE versions are still available. The 6 coin collector set (which is what I got) sold out in about 1 or 2 minutes. Wow!

Those pics look great. I love copper. In the case of this coin, I would have loved to have gotten the Satin Gold version with enamel (my favorite) but I missed out on that. Sure am glad I caught the remint!

Really nice! I am a hiking cacher and most of my cache hunts start at night just before dawn... I usually watch the sunrise from mountain tops. ... So this coin is a must have. I like the RE1, followed by the LE2 and LE1. Hope I can get one... those LE's go fast.
