  1. My Magellan Meridian GPS is not feeling well. I have 2 problems with it. First, sometimes when I turn it on I get a “Datacard is loose or bad” message. Second, sometimes when it does this it deletes my waypoints and tracks. I have tried 2 different SD cards so I don’t think it’s the cards. This started shortly after 2 things happened. I upgraded from 4.02 to 4.06 firmware and I left the unit turned on in the windshield bracket on a hot day and it quit working until I changed the batteries. I’ve gone back to 4.02 then back to 4.06 and now I am at 4.02 again. The problem is still there. It works great without the SD card. I think I have a corrupted file somewhere. This unit is less than a year old but I bought it off Ebay so Magellan considers it used and not covered under warranty. They want $120.00 to exchange it. Is there a Doctor in the house?
  2. Where can you buy new Meridian GPS Yellows for $96.00? I would like to buy 2!
  3. I have a Legend and a Magellan Meridian. I put them in the same class price wise, but the Meridian out performs the Legend every time. The Legend constantly looses its fix under trees. I suppose the Meridian does to, but it seems to give an accurate average of where to go. The Legend just goes out.
  4. Jeremy, I think that any charity you choose is a loosing situation for you because it’s bound to upset many people. I had a former boss that loved a win - win situation. How about putting the money back into Geocaching. I’m thinking something like a contest for the best submitted photos or a contest that a lucky cacher would win a get away caching weekend. The opportunities are only limited by your imagination. Just think of the publicity this would draw.
  5. I was caching in Pittsburgh, PA today and had GPSr problems between 11:30AM to about 12:30 PM. My GPSr went crazy. It was drifting randomly up to 8 miles. I would turn it off, back on, get a good location for about 15 seconds and then jump to a different location 4 or 5 miles away. I have GPS hardware connected to my pocket PC and had similar problems. Both are working fine now. Just wondering if anyone else had problems today? Was this a result of terrorist threats today?
