  1. There was a large GEO-Event down in Portland last weekend that was very well attended by members from the review team. It was a camping event so computer/internet access was limited or non-existent for most of us attending. We just got home last night around 10:00 pm and had to go right back to our real jobs bright and early this morning. I'm sure that we'll get in and start to get things caught up soon.
  2. Congrats to you both! Thanks guys! It's been a fun journey!! It was great to celebrate 1,000 with you guys. Trying to get the golden ammo can painted and decorated with out you seeing it was also a challenge. (sorry it didn't get totally finished )
  3. Welcome to the hobby/sport/addiction!! Quite a few of the Oregon cachers hang out on the Portland forums at www.pdxgeocaching.com more than they do here. If you want to meet a few (hundred) of the locals you should consider coming out to Champoeg State Park this weekend. It is the site of the annual gathering of geocachers to do all things imaginable. You can check out the cache page for the main event on Saturday here from that page you'll find links to everything that is going on for the entire weekend.
  4. I looked at the cache in question by the OP and it seems that he and PNWadmin have exchanged emails recently. I would consider changing you terrain to 1.5 stars at least however. While not actually in the guidelines it's considered good form to only rate a cache as a one star if it's wheelchair accessible. I don't mean to hijack this thread but it seems as good a place as any to let everyone know that things may be a little slower than normal for the next week. Team Misguided is headed south for Champoeg tomorrow morning. We'll be gone for a whole week with out internet access. If you aren't already planning on coming to the event, consider making the trip. It's one of the can't miss events of the year. If you are attending, we'll see you there!! For those of you unable to make it, have a great weekend and remember that the local reviewers are short handed this week.
  5. Is it possible to have opinions from other reviewers on this case? Why not... Get permission! Have a nice day. I'd like to see permission from both the parks department and the school district. But I'm particular that way.
  6. I knew you knew but I didn't know they didn't know you knew. Huh? Wait... I'm running out of fingers and toes! You just need to upgrade from that Maggie to a good gps like a Garmin and you'd be able to keep up.
  7. Why be sad??? It's called "irony". Why? In case you or others don't know, TM is one of the local reviewers. I'm willing to bet now that B, N & Z, oh, and now you, make statements like you did, TM will now be watching any cache submissions from you or them just a little more closely, especially with regards to permissions. Allanon hit the nail on the head. It was also supposed to be a subtle reminder to everyone. I assume that adequate permission has been obtained unless I have reason to think otherwise. Private property would be a place I'd question regardless of the cache placer, the same with a cache in a State Park. Showing blatant disregard for the permission portion of the guidelines does not make it easy for me to assume that you've obtained adequate permission for your hide.
  8. Seriously, how many people really follow this particular guideline? Makes a mental note of this comment.
  9. As a rule of thumb, Groundspeak does not retro-actively apply new guidelines or policies to existing caches. However, if the land manager of the area that the cache is in contacts Groundspeak then action will be taken.
  10. How come these visiting cachers never visit the south end?
  11. There is nothing funny about what you suggested. I've already issued one warning in this thread to keep it civil and respectful to the NSS. Jester is doing his best to do that but if others can't do so as well I'll close this topic down.
  12. I think what Jester is doing is the right course of action. He is approaching this situation with thought to the future and trying to take emotion out of it. That is not always easy to do when it's a cache you have worked hard on that was compromised. I commend him for taking this approach. ReadyOrNot - you are entitled to your opinion, however in this case continuing to post that opinion in this thread may damage to Jester's efforts with the NSS. I think it's time to agree to disagree on this issue and move on to other threads.
  13. I think it's time for a few people in this thread to keep their thoughts on this subject to themselves for a while. It's starting to sound like a General forum thread and not one of our generally friendly NW forum threads. I'll leave this one open for now, unless the OP asks me to close it. But keep it civil, keep it on topic and be polite or I will have to close it.
  14. Congrats!!!!! But we are all about baby pictures around here and we'll want proof of this beautiful new bundle of joy!!
  15. If history holds to form Groundspeak will host the event for the opening of the maze.
  16. 170 is 85% of 200 so you own 85% of the caches in that 14 mile area. If one person owned 85% of the caches in that 14 mile radius around Groundspeak then yes I'd call that over-saturation.
  17. I think you would be well within your right as the cache owner to ask the finder to edit his log to remove the time of find.
  18. I told you about this early in this discussion. Good point Andrew. If there is too much about the cache run on the cache page it will delay the publication while you work things out with the reviewer. Ideally there would be a 'cache landing page' that is hosted offsite similar to the sign-up pages used by Shop99er for their events. Then you can focus the cache page on the dinner event itself and put all the cache run route info on the offsite page. Here is the relevant section of the cache listing guidelines: This is why the focus of the cache page needs to be on the dinner event not the cache run.
  19. You haven't!!! Shame on you! We've done it at least three times. Hurts me every time, but I'd do it again given the right reason.
  20. I'm going to move this one to the correct forum. Good luck with your new group.
