  1. I would just like to see the magazine, how do you get on the mailing list??
  2. Amazon.com was the best place I could find. It also helped that I had a $100 gift certificate from my employees. murph
  3. I had the suction cup mount for my Vista and it worked pretty good. Never fell off but you had to keep it up high in the mount because of the buttons on the side. All in all I was happy with it. In fact the Vista Suction cup mount is a better fit for the new 60CS than the one designed for the CS. murph
  4. Wrap your hand around one of the antennas and watch the satellite page. If the signals go away then it was using the one you have your hand around - otherwise it was using the other one. Which model antenna are you using? I have the Gilsson for my eMap and it goes on and off pretty easily. It gives a little snap when it's pushed on all the way. If I lay my GPS on the seat next to me with the external antenna attached I lose all of my Satellites. I get the lost reception error also. What it boils down to is the antenna is not working. I put a glove over the main antenna and I loose reception also. So I will have to call Gilsson I guess and have them send me out a new one or something. Do I have to tell my GPSmap60CS that I will be using an external antenna? murph
  5. If I just have the name of a cache, how do I do a search for it? I have come across this many times where people on our home state page will list the name of a cache but not the location. murph
  6. Both my Vista and my 60CS I never really felt like I had to calibrate. But I guess because the book says to do it I just do. However, your right, there is many times out in the woods I have just put the batteries in and went with it and it seems to be just as accurate. murph
  7. Mine is really tough to get it in that tight. The cable itself prevents it from seating tight and if I push real tight I can it down tight but within a few minutes it will work itself out again. Is there a way in the GPS to tell if I am on the internal or external antenna? I would just feel more comfortable if the GPS told me what antenna it was using. Kind of like the external power, I can disconnect it and it will tell me it will shut down. I then just push the external cable back on and the warning goes away. murph
  8. Them same clips are used on cell phones. My experience is I would never trust them. In fact I am very dissapointed in the way Garmin designed the clip and the cradle for the handle bar mount and suction cup mount. If you hit a good bump with the handle bar mount your GPS will fall out. So just watch it. I wish they would have stayed with the battery compartment mount. Maybe they will change it some day. Also mine came loose out of the GPS also. murph
  9. Got my new external antenna today. I was on the impression that there would be a fitting that would screw in to hold in place on the GPS. Does it just slide in and how do you know your making a good connection? Mine just slides on but on my CS it does not allow it to slide all the way in. Yes it is tough to get back out but I can manage it. Helpme and thanks in advance. murph
  10. I do upload the cordinates to my GPS. I do use the Go/To Feature when I get close. I also use Expertgps and will make aerial maps of the area to help me out. I also print out the hints and others logs and will only use them if I have to. murph
  11. See if I can make this work. I will attempt to attach a picture of a trail. You can see where I have driven over this many times. The bigger the scale the more you can tell. I want to keep all tracks but just clean up because there is areas where I only went over once or twice. I am using a GPSMap60CS as my GPS now. I have sold my Vista Ok how do I insert an image from off my computer. I see adding a http and an img from the web but not from my computer??
  12. I guess what I was hoping was to download them to expertgps and then come up with a way to combine them there. Then I could upload them back to my GPS. murph
  13. I 4 wheel with a bunch of guys in an area that is about 15 miles square. There is lots of trails that we have created and I have gone over each of these trails about ten times. The problem I have now is I have about 6 or 7 track logs that go over the same roads and trails. So now when I make an aerial map I have all of these red lines all over the place. Is there a way I can combine these tracks into one track. And in the places where I have doubled or even tripled up can this program eliminate the double tracks?? murph
  14. Yah Man, I had a Vista as my first. Loved it except for heavy woods. It would lose the satellites a bit now and then. But it did work great for caching and traveling. murph
  15. I want the external antenna for two reasons. I want to put my GPS down by my side where I can see it. My new pickup has this huge dash and the windshield mount takes it so far away from me. Another reason in our area the cops like to ticket for having obstructions on your dash. This way I just have the antenna and my GPS in on the console on my right side. Also this way the sun doesn't effect the screen as much. murph
  16. I called on mine when it was two years old and they gave me a reduced rate on the repair. If I remember right it was $50.00 and that included the two day Fed-Ex back. Thought it was a good deal. murph
  17. What does the program actually allow you to do? Is it something that you just upload to your GPS to give it a different look? murph
  18. You can change the way your GPS looks?? The download page has so many items on it and seems confusing to me?? murph
  19. Well guess what? I don't use rechargeables and I am having problems. Mine has shut down about six times now. My batteries seem to be tight but when I open the case one of the batteries is not in place but popped out some. Maybe putting something on the cover to hold batteries in place would help. I had the same problems with my Vista. You would think Garmin with all the problems they have had in the past would have corrected this by now. murph
  20. Do you have to have the suction cup mount for the antenna or can you just lay the antenna on the dash?? I just ordered the antenna but if I need the mount also I should have ordered both at the same time.
  21. Ok thanks. I wasn't sure if you simplified it in my GPS or expertgps. But no matter what I will loose some of the points? murph
  22. The track was originally made from my Vista. So I thought I was getting a GPS that had everything my Vista had plus more, guess I was wrong. The track I am talking about originally had 955 which now it only has 504. So maybe that is the limit. So when moving this larger track from ExpertGPS to my GPS where is this simplified moad. Otherwise right now it just runs up to the 500 points and then quits so I only have half of the track. murph
  23. Another thing I did was uploaded to my new CS a few tracks and it told me the track was truncated. Well fine and dandy now the track only has half the points and it only shows half of the track on the map now. What am I doing wrong?? murph
  24. My serial port cable finally arrived today so I could use ExpertGPS. I did do the update and I recieved all of my waypoints from my CS. However it told me there was an error in receiving the waypoints as it did not recognise the icons so it converted the majority of them to just dots? What did I do wrong? Here is the error message One or more of the waypoints received from your GPS uses a waypoint symbol that this program did not recognize. The default symbol for your GPS receiver was used instead. (Warning #1001) This warning message has been copied to the clipboard. murph
  25. I have been using my Old Vista suction cup mount. Worked pretty good withe the CS. Today I got my suction mount for the CS. I have to tell eveyone don't waste your time or money on that one. It is nothing but a joke. It is limited in the way you can adjust it so therefore my passenger can see it better than I can. It rattles as you go down the road and the A/C adapter is a pain to hook up unless you hook it in after the GPS is in the cradle. Garmin uses the same cradle idea for the handle bar mount. It too looks like it will fall off on the first bump. I think I will just buy the antenna and and get my GPS on my console some place where it will be easier to use. Again complaining about the suction cup mount it puts the GPS right up close to the windshield making it a long reach for me to get to. murph Another post in regards to the mount by Garmin Suction Cup
