  1. Dersu, You must not have downloaded the file. The file if I remember right was close or over 1 meg. So it would have taken a while even with a fast connection. I would try downloading it again and then just click on it to install. You don't have to uninstall the old one first unless you want to. If you do want to uninstall the old one you will have to re-register the new one. I just ran the new file over the old one. murph
  2. Markj, I can be patient, I have no problem with that and for the most part the maps are working ok except for the ones I downloaded from ExpertGps of Hawaii and Alaska. Even when Terra Server is working I can't get them to work. The big problem I am having and I don't think it has anything to do with Terra Server is my printing problem to my plotter. I sure wish I could get that to work, I would be in 7th heaven if so. murph
  3. I looked under the bugs that were fixed with the previous version to the latest and it was suppose to fix the waypoints and tracks showing on aerial photos. For me even the very latest as of yesterday still has that problem and I am very frustrated that when I print to a plotter it will only print various blocks or sections with no rime or reason. I will do some on the outside and a few in the middle and kind of all over the place. Before I print I do make sure that all sections in the print square are filled in. I do a print preview and the full map is there, but when I print only half of it is there. If I export the map to a file then I can only print in a 8-1/2 x 11 page. I really want to print a map that is 36 x 42 or something of that size. I have a HP Designjet 450c. So if anyone has any ideas it would greatly be appreciated. Also I still can not open any waypoints from the states of Alaska or Hawaii. Can someone else try opening them and see if you can open them? murph
  4. Thanks Dan, It was working for me also but now it is not. I will check later. murph
  5. think i found it. I just changed the cordinates under properties and it seems to work now. thanks murph
  6. Actually I did a cut and paste. Then just deleted the degrees and the spaces. I also did check for the correct cordinance. I also tried some of the other ones listed in the zip of 55901 and came up with the same results, about 5 miles off. I also did download it to EasyGPS and then did a cut and paste into ExpertGPS but still come up with the same results. As far as teh DDD and MM.MMM is there a way to change that. A while back I remember I had this same problem with manually putting in the information for my cabin, it came up about 5 miles off. Any ideas or suggestion it would be greatly appreciated. murph
  7. I have been a member here for a couple of months for mostly the reason of GPS software and troubles. But I kind of have taken an interest in Geocaching. I noticed under the zip code 55901 there is one in Quarry Hill. I am very familiar with that area so I decided to just plug in the cordinance by creating a new waypoint under ExpertGPS. Then doing a map aerial view it actually takes me 5 miles east of Quarry Hill. Now the interesting thing is if I download the waypoint to ExpertGPS it takes me to Quarry Hill. So my question is why the difference. I notice when looking at the properties on the North and West they show up different. Is this just an error in the post or am I missing something here? murph
  8. Yes, I got that email this morning also. I did do a download and everything seems to be working ok excpept for when printing. I have a designjet 450C plotter. When I go to Map, print map I get a full view of what I want to print and everything looks good there, but when I actually print I only get about half of what I wanted or what is shown in the print preview pane. So I am not sure if it is the program or my printer. I will have to do some more playing around. murph
  9. Dessert Warrior, Yes I do have that pushed in. That is the Internet Map Retrieval button. You can also find it under that maps directory. This morning I downloaded the uninstall program and then I shut the computer down and re-installed the program and now I can't get nothing from the maps. So now I am worse off than I was before. But maybe your right I just have to be patient and maybe it will start working again. murph
  10. Yes I am running the latest version. I even downloaded a new copy just yesterday and put it on another computer at work. The other thing that is now happening on all three computers with different internet connnections is when I close ExpertGPS it says there is a failure and it sends a report to microsoft. When I was using the trial version I had no problems and even the first few days with the purchased version I had no trouble. So what is different now. murph
  11. I just purchased a copy of ExpertGPS after trying the 30 day trial. I did upgrade to the newest version and since I purchased the program it just seem like I am having a lot of problems. #1. The states Hawaii and Alaska that I downloaded from Expert GPS will not allow me to do any aerial photos from any of the waypoints. This problem exists on both of my computers, one at work 1 meg DSL line and my home computer that has a 56k line. #2 I keep getting a notice that I have no internet connection and can't download the maps. This problem exists on both of my computers, one at work 1 meg DSL line and my home computer that has a 56k line. However I can use other programs that use the internet with no problems so I know I have an internet connection. #3. When doing an aerial photo if I am lucky to be able to download the maps they never come complete and will leave white squares in the middle of the photos. #4 When printing what I can of the aerial photos it leaves out the waypoints and the routes. I am told that newest version corrects that but not for me. This problem exists on both of my computers, one at work 1 meg DSL line and my home computer that has a 56k line. #5. I just now written a second message to tech support. The first time they have not replied as of yet. So in a nutshell I am somewhat dissapointed in the program but most of all the support. If there is anyone out here that is really familiar with ExpertGPS it would be greatly appreciated. Both of my computers are Windows XP. I did also install it today on on other computer at work which is windows 2000 proffessional an it had the same troubles. The version was downloaded from the internet today so it should be the newest version Murph
  12. Using ExpertGPS I am mapping out an area that is about 2 square miles but has about 50 Waypoints in this area. When I do an aerial view it places the Waypoints on top of each other and basically hides some. Can I set up ExpertGPS to draw lines to the Waypoints instead. I tried out QuakeMap and notice it does that for you. Murph
  13. I went to the navigation page. Course Pointer is shown. When I click on it and go back then Bearing Pointer is shown. Click on it again and then Course Pointer is shown. So I am assuming that what you actually have is the opposite of what is shown. Therefore I would have had Bearing Pointer selected. Right?? murph
  14. When you say "re-initialise" do you mean let sit on a flat surface for ten to fifteen minutes? I did do that but I did not rebalibrate the compass. I will do that right now. As far as re-initialise I did do that. murph
  15. Since I have updated my the software on my Garmin Etrex Vista to 3.2 I have noticed the arrow when in the Map mode is always 90 degrees to the direction I am going. It use to have the line it was drawing straight with the arrow, now the arrow is always 90 degrees to the line. Can anyone help me here. Also it seems to take a long time to find Satellites at start up. Murph
  16. Ok I downloaded USAphotomaps and it is exactly what I want. One problem I have is I would like to print the map with the routes on it when done. I have an HP Designjet 450c and when I click on print it tells me to put in landscape mode which I do, then click print again and it comes back and says that I failed to click landscape. I want to print a large map about 24" x 36". Any ideas. I can print on 8 1/2 x 11 with no problems, just on the HP Plotter murph
  17. Anders, What I use my Vista mostly for is when traveling I use it for the the information for the exits down the road. I also do a lot of 4 wheelin in the woods that I am not familiar with. So I use the tracks and waypoints to make sure I get home. So really what I would probably like is the maps of the woods in northern Minnesota and I would like to move my tracks and waypoints to terra server. So help me if you can in your suggestions. I am really new with GPS and don't know what I can all do with them. murph
  18. Alan, Here is what I am trying to do. I have a Garmin Etrex Vista. I want to be able to save my Tracks on my PC. I am using EasyGPS and that software allows me to back up Waypoints and Routes, not Tracks. I have asked this question in various discussion groups and no one has been able to help me. I was told in this discussion group that I can convert my stored Tracks to Routes and then back them up. So that is why I am trying to figure out how to convert the Tracks to Routes. Hopes this helps you. murph
  19. I am told that I can convert my tracks to routes on my Garmin Etrex Vista. Can someone explain to me how to do that. I can not find it in the book that I have at all. Thank you
  20. I have a Garmin Etrex Vista and I use Easy GPS to back up my routes and Waypoints. I like to take the routes and Wapoints off of the GPS and load the ones I know I will be using. My problem that I wish someone could solve for me is I also want to store Tracks on my computer also for backing up. But Easy GPS does not allow me to do that? Does someone know of a software program out there that will allow me to do that or can I make EasyGPS do it. murph
