  1. Same thing from 2 different senders for me.
  2. There is an earthcahe in our local museum. The museum is a business and you are required to pay an entrance fee to get inside. The answers are not obtainable without entering the museum. Is that a commercial cache?
  3. This is a log from a cache I own. Pretty basic until you look at the picture. I think this is a good example of how to handle getting hurt while caching. "Went once before but it was a swamp. It is dry now. We were the 3 stooges with one big inanimate tag along. One injury later and the cache was signed. Pretty scary. Tftc!"
  4. The map on the cache placement page, the one you enter the coords on, is unreliable. It shows old imagery and should not be trusted. That might help.
  5. IN colorado we're lucky enough to have the crypto. Cryotosporidum-623
  6. The last one I found like that was a lid with the Geocaching intro log sheet, a small log book, and a few small trade items but no actual container. I believe I logged it as a find but also as an NA. The cache owner was inactive and seemed to have a track record of not maintaining his caches.
  7. Haven't had my hides for long but I always check after a DNF or NM. I have one hide 300 feet from home that I routinely check and add swag to.
  8. Nope. Used to be true, perhaps. Not true anymore. You will see "TFTC" and even "xuasyd" logs on caches with many favorite points and great views. If you haven't yet, hide and watch... they're coming your way any day now. I guess I should have said " I give good caches good logs and mediocre caches mediocre logs." It is impossible for me to get excited about some caches. I usually at least include some mundane quip about the weather or the sunset. Sometimes its just nice to grab a cache and sign a log when you're far from home. If I make a quick lunch grab on a trivial cache my log would probably read something like: "Quick grab on lunch. All was well. Thanks for the cache!" That is usually the minimum. But do some caches really deserve more that that? Did I spend more time writing my log than the CO took in placing their cache? I do have 5 hides. The cachers in my area generally write a small blurb on most caches but I did notice on the cache I put the least thought into hiding gets the most boring logs.
  9. Good caches get good logs, mediocre caches get mediocre logs.
  10. Found some tacks in a micro the other day. Hooray for random finger jabbings!
  11. im not sure if they are hidden but basic caches have a square tag and premium caches have a circular tag.
  12. Im thinking my next hide will be up a game trail in a patch of thorny bushes. Entitled. "This cache is not easy, this cache is not fun." but it will at least be a regular size
  13. Randomly ran across another "mistake" by the same "big numbers" cacher. Is this how we rack them up??? This time it was a DNF and a "Found" on a cache that was archived the same day. Found it 3/22/2015 By 90K+ "finds" Visiting from X. Enjoyed the hunt. SL. Thanks! Follow my adventures on Facebook! Didn't find it 3/22/2015 By 90K+ "finds" Visiting from X. No joy here. I just happen to know who you are talking about, and he has no finds logged on the dates you have listed, could have been a mistake.
  14. There are apps you can download for that like this one but I don't think there is anything on the app for that. you could also drop a pin on your google map and then use that.
  15. OT: I dont see a reason I would stop caching as of right now. I just started in the middle of January, but i can already feel the honeymoon phase start to wane. I think you will have more fun if you try and stick to quality caches I also think the thrill of an/a FTF will always excite me. -typo-
  16. Sure seemed like a lack of caches was the problem back in 2004, now there are too many!
  17. I haven't been around long enough but I KNOW drilling holes into trees in a no-no. As far as the hides in lamp posts go I have never seen any exposed wires inside the skirt but sometimes the access panels have been removed and you can see the wires. As a general rule I only seek out lamp hides if I am on a streak or if I am far away from home and wanna grab a quick cache. The last lamp hide i found the skirt was covered in bird droppings, which you could say is just as dangerous as an exposed wire if you think about all the disease birds carry.
  18. Insert fork. this thread should be done.
  19. The gs app. I was never restricted but alot of people claimed to have been. i still combo all day, especially since only one of the apps adds recently viewed caches.
  20. I think the coolest thing about PMO caches is that way your map fills up when you buy a Premium membership. I was very excited to see many new caches near my house. I have hidden one cache and it is PMO. I want it to be around a long time and i guess in my head having it PMO would increase the longevity of the cache.
  21. I used a basic account for a month, finding as many as i wanted every time i used it. I was never limited on cache views. I am a premium member now and run multiple Pocket Queries a day depending on what i want to find. The biggest advantage of a premium membership for me is using the Google map on geocaching.com instead of the open source maps. I would recommend using your basic app for a month or so to make sure you are into it. I use a combination of the Official app and another app the combo usually works well as sometimes the maps are off a little depending on the loaded tiles.
  22. Found a lamp post micro with a log from 2007. oldest i have found. 361 logged visits and its the original...
  23. 28. JUst started in january, not stopping or slowing down anytime soon.
