Geocaching.com site update May 14th 2013
The Trekbuddies replied to Moun10Bike's topic in Geocaching HQ communications
T&C section 1 part A "While Groundspeak offers ways for individuals to exchange information about location-based outdoor play, Groundspeak does not provide any games or location-based activities itself and such games are not part of our services. As described below, Groundspeak is not responsible for game-related information available through our services and users are responsible for their own safety." 1.so if you are taking no responsibility for game related activity dump the reviewers and let us place caches where we want in our own country! 2."Groundspeak does not provide any games or location-based activities itself and such games are not part of our services" since the only way to get geocache information and log that you have found one involves visiting geocaching.com or using the API which are hosted by Groundspeak "Copyright © 2000-2013 Groundspeak, Inc. All Rights Reserved." how can this be so? no wonder people are flocking to other gps based games -

The need to keep logging in and re authorizing apps is getting really boring, this happens in Geoget and locus to mention a few and is a right pain in the arse -
Don't they just we have one here i did not include the wireless beacon attribute "a wireless device that transmits a brief message" as that is not what an NFC tag does, but they insist it has the attribute, at least i know who to forward the complaints from the "garmin chirp" club to, maybe they should use "active beacon" and "passive beacon" attributes

when looking where to go out caching for the day we load memorymap which displays caches we have outputted using Geoget, these are linked to offline htm files with the option to either view on gc.com of view in google maps, i suspect many members use their own database so improving PQs would be most helpfull, why you cannot download all caches in a country i dont know this would be one file generated by the server for everyone in the country rather than running loads in PQs based on this and that for each member -

Please remove the avatars from the cache pages and return the correct actual dates. People asked Virtuals, but you implemented something completely different. what we want and what we get are never the same!. how about a watch your friends option, email notification when your friends find caches? -

could we have the old maps as default untill the new maps are fixed, new cache goes live , look at the map its not there , switch to old maps there it is. @olddffart i also expect the 2 to 4 hour delay in new Published Notifications listings is to give the new maps time to cache the new listings as they are cached and not live. As for the fixed width there is nothing to say that hasn't already been said, is this new white space going to be filled with advertising? , if you dont like fixed width or advertising on your listing , host them on your own webspace and link to it on the listing, although if they didnt try to fix something that wasn't broke this would not be needed. It will be interesting to see how Groundspeak play this out , will they listen to their customers or will it just be tough! -
slow slow then very slow, good job we have wap.geocaching.com

Geocaching.com site update Dec 21st 2010
The Trekbuddies replied to OpinioNate's topic in Geocaching HQ communications
no they didn't, the PQ's work fine where did you get the idea that it takes 3 hours for one to arrive?...i get them almost instantly and why would you use PQ's if you want to be FTF and not use the Notifications? notifications are fine to let you know a/some caches have gone live but a pq is much better to parse to various outputs for mobile apps, memorymap , tomtom etc and to distrubute to other team members this info is then only downloaded once for the whole team then viewed offline rather than having multiple team members viewing cache pages. yes PQ are generated much faster than they used to be but less then a year ago it did often take 3 hours well, we're talking now, not 1 year ago but anyway, i was under the impression that you're not supposed to share PQ's someone correct me if i'm wrong so we are not allowed to share PQs with other team members who use the same account well thats new to me! -

The Trekbuddies replied to OpinioNate's topic in Geocaching HQ communications
scraping the site for details of 5 new caches must be less server demanding than generating a PQ with 1000 caches in!( yes you can filter new caches in a pq, but the chance of getting a FTF after waiting 3 hours for a pq to be ran may not be to everyones tastes). favotite caches a simple vote out of 10 for each cache found would be better than a 10% voting rating. generating stats that show distance from home and setting then to show as default( yes you can select to turn them off)is just lack of respect for peoples security. i feel gc.com have got it very wrong -
Hello Peeps yes travelling by car We like challenging ones, not so much the ones you have hikes too, and no micro in hedges but good well thought out ones cryptic ones/well hidden ones/picture friendly ones/ well made caches basically ones you have done near the locations i have specified that have been a favourite of yours or ones well worth a visit hope that explains my question a bit better... Thanks
