Hang in there rifalee! When I started caching in 2007 in Qatar there were only 6 caches in the whole country. After finding these caches I quickly realized that unless somebody started placing caches then the numbers would never grow. So, I sent about finding nice locations and placing some caches. As the saying goes, the rest is history! You place them the people will start finding them and then placing and so it goes on. Don't despair. Qatar now has well over 500 caches!

Pretty close - it was UAE [AUH], Qatar, Bahrain & Oman. Your turn.

The current airline of Bahrain - Gulf Air - used to be the representative airline of no less than 4 gulf countries. Which were these countries? [Hint: they all subsequently launched their own airlines. Bonus points for naming the new airlines as well.]

I have found in my experience after caching in 25+ countries around the world that urban caches tend to be the small / micros and the rural caches larger. That said, I have found some brilliant rural caches that have been micros and the same goes for some really good large urban caches. I think it is just a question of what cache type suits the particular location. If I come across a well placed cache that is appropriate for the location I don't care if it is a large, full of swag container or a micro. However, If I want to place a TB or coin then it is a different matter. I will then look for a container that either has trackables in already [i then know it is large enough] or I will avoid the ones marked micro. At the end of the day it is a question of what blows your hair back I suppose. As I don't have kids caching with me swag is not important to me. But, if I do have youngsters around, then I love to see there reactions when they do find a well stocked container and then decide what they are going to exchange. My 2c worth.

As usual Danie your stats are great. However, I want to throw the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons here. Favourite Points have been in the past and will be in the future a contentious issue. For these to have relevance should one not first look at the number of Premium Members vs Non-Premium Members? Only Premium Members may award FP's. Now that said, one will then need to look at the Premium vs Non-Premium finds on each cache before computing the FP ratios. Maybe I am wrong as I am not a statistician but that is what my logic is telling me.

Welcome to the wonderful world of geocaching. The only way to get notifications of new caches that are published in by becoming a "Premium Member" and that is part of the benefits. Good luck.

Welcome to the wonderful world of geocaching. Hope you have endless days of fun.

Thanks Danie - love all the stats that you publish. I am certain that would look very different in Gauteng if the Power Trail(s) were not there. When you do provincial comparisons please include Gauteng's "beautiful step sister" as well - North West? Once I return to South Africa later this year it is my intention to get NW Caching a lot more publicity through getting the number of caches up and the interest of the Gautengers increased that they spent more time in the Platinum Province. In the past the Gautengers have supported us well, but we need to ensure that they spend more time in our midst in the future.

No takers after 2 weeks now. "After British and Boer mercenaries had helped Dinuzulu defeat his rival Usibepu for succession of the Zulu throne, land and farming rights were granted to them along the banks of the Mfolozi River. On August 5, 1884 the mercenaries formed the Nieuwe Republiek (New Republic) with Vryheid as its capital. It was later incorporated into the South African Republic, but at the end of the Second Boer War the town and its surrounding area was absorbed into Natal." Here's a new question then - Michaelhouse was founded in 1896 but relocated to Balgowen in the Natal Midlands in 1901. Where was it located prior to relocation?

I see you are a Premium Member. Use GSAK and the macros that are available. I am sure that will be an easier option. That said, I am NO geek with GSAK so hopefully some of our more "enlightened" brethren will comment in a more meaningful way!

How long would you envisage these "talks" to be? Would they be formal [lecture room type] or informal? Depending on the specs you require I would be happy to talk about caching in different countries. I have experienced caching in 24 countries and could share some experiences / photos / etc if that would be suitable.
