faff

I used my 600 alongside a 550t yesterday for a short spot of caching along the river Chelmer in Essex (so not very challenging for either unit). Only a basic comparison at the moment but my first impression was as expected i.e. that the 600 was slightly quicker to fix positions and change screens, clearer to view and generally more responsive. Too early to say much more but my daughter did give her approval of it even though she still thinks I didn't need to buy it as there is nothing wrong with the 550t (I did get a good price from Go Outdoors though as I invoked their beat the competition by 10% policy).

Go Outdoors in the UK have had the Oregon 600 on sale for a few weeks now and a few other sites are now beginning to show thema as available. Yes, Go Outdoors and Cotswold Outdoors now have the 600 for sale, with the 650 being rumoured for early June. Judging by the number of queries and bugs being reported on the Oregon 600 Wiki, I'm quite glad we're not getting them yet! And the minimal manual provided by Garmin seems to be backfiring on them judging by the number of very basuc queries being asked in this thread!! (It doesn't even tell you what capacity SD cards will work!) They seem to be relying on the Wiki to find the bugs and provide the detailed documentation. I'm still waiting for some objective reviews too... Chris

Very many thanks. I failed to find the cache so will try again using manual input to see if it does actually point me to a different location. The screen is a little too small for my eyes to tell if it shows that far out on the map but I'll get one of my kids to take a look tomorrow. A friend has also just confirmed the same result on his Oregon so it does seem odd as haven't seen the same problem on other caches. This is my first forum post on any subject ever so please excuse my ignorance but how do I find the UK forum?

Hi, I have my GPS and Geocaching.com set to show British Grid references - the cache 'Bluebell Bank'(GC1X4M4) shows N 51° 33.300 E 000° 35.052 - British Grid: TQ 79246 87182 on geocaching.com but TQ 79129 87230 under the description page on my Garmin Dakota 20. It's a new GPS for me so I guess I have done something stupid but cannot figure out what?

Hi, anybody got any ideas why the grid reference should be different? I drag and dropped the PQ file to my Dakota 20 and most caches look ok but at least one seems to show the grid reference slightly different to what's on the web page?
