  1. Just a compliment. Alot of what I read here are: questions, which, as a teacher, I like or complaints, which get old. I have a compliment. I have talked with several of you and brother-in-law (the violas)has meet a few of you. All of those I have had contact with are very nice and courteous. I have also noticed you guys all log your finds and bugs are generally safe in this area. I have been involved with this hobby for 2 months now and I wanted to thank the other cachers in this area for making this hobby, safe, clean, and fun. This hobby is pure, unlike most of the other hobbies I have attempted, they seem to become distorted by things I don't want my family involved with. This hobby is fun and safe enough that we, my wife and I, take Joshua (16 month old) along with us. He even has fun, until he gets tired, LOL (those who have or have had small children know what I am talking about). So to sum it up, THANKS and Jeff, please let me know if I can assist you in anyway on the get-together at Oak Mountain. God bless you and your family, [] Team Bubba Cache [^]
  2. I might have missed this, Where did u get the Permethrin? I have heard people say Wal-lyworld, but in what department? Thanks Guys God bless you and your family, [] Team Bubba Cache [^]
  3. I download the waypoints from geocaching.com and then upload them to my laptop in the program "StreetAtlas". I can zoom down all the way to street level. We use it to help us in our search for the caches as well, it has a function that will allow you to plug in your GPS and track your movement in real-time on the screen. We plug the laptop into the cigarette adapter. God bless you and your family, [] Team Bubba Cache [^]
  4. The educator in me is coming out. Over the next few weeks, I have decided to "experiment". Yesterday, Team Bubba Cache was out caching for 7 hours. I found 17 ticks on me throughout the day. That was with NO Repellant. Next trip, I will use Deepwoods OFF with DEET and see what attaches. Only way to obtain true knowledge about what works on ticks is to test these post. If anyone else test out a method suggested here, let us know the results. Thanks, be careful, and God Bless Bubba Cache God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  5. I'll have to try that onmy 3 dogs, of course his breath smells like poo as it is God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  6. I have noticed several cachers placing their personalized "geocoins" in caches. What is a geocoin? Where do you get them? Can you track them like bugs? Thanks God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  7. If your coming down I-65, I have one right off the interstate before you get into B'ham, AL, On the Way God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  8. I thought it might seem stupid or unfiar if I placed him in my own cache and then took him back out so the plan was.... drop him off legit and get theviolas to pick him up since they are venturing to DC with us. He was unable to log getting the Mouth of the South TB. He did get it tho. As to the Racer TB, it was in Monday but maybe someone else got him. I called theviolas but he didn't get him and said it WAS in there 36 hours ago. Sorry for the bad luck and wasted trip. God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  9. I had posted here about 2 weeks ago. I asked about caches in the DC area. I should have asked caches near a metro stop. Some of you have responded, THANKS A TON. I live in Alabama so, as some of you have asked, .50 miles or so is NOT a long walk. Here we walk sometimes 1-2 miles to a cache. We will be there next week and have ALOT of travel bugs to disperse. We are looking for regular caches to visit. Since we are flying in to Reagan, we will only have Metro transportation. Thanks again for those of you who have helped a great deal already. God bless and be safe, Team Bubba Cache God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  10. Thats what I am talking about, starting my TB from my own cache to where I drop him off. Thanks everyone for the advice. God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  11. Oh, one more question. You have both a TB of your own and a cache of your own, is it bad to log it as if it is in your cache, u retrieve it yourself and move it to another cache to log the miles? God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  12. Thanks for the response, bthomas. I have a few questions for ya. I am a 2 1/2 month newbie to this hobby, WHICH I LOVE!!!!!!!!!! 1. What is K.I.S.S. missions? 2. What is "grab and re-drop"? I am glad you mentioned the "mission info tags". I only have found 2 TB and have never seen one of these tags. I thought it would be a good idea to include one of these, so when I got my first 4 TB tags, I placed a small, lamenated tag that told the mission of the TB besides the info on the website. I really appreciate the wisdom from experience. Good luck. God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  13. Jus wondering what the rules of etiquette for travel bugs are. I mean there are no set rules are there. I have a few questions about situations, for example: Is it OK to retrieve a TB from your own cache? How long is too long to keep a TB? Can u request to have your own TB sent to you? Anymore u can think of? Thanks guys and gals. God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  14. I am tired of the unwanted hitchhikers What works to repel them???? i don'y want RM spotted fever!!!!! God bless you and your family, Bubba Cache
  15. I think thats a great idea, besides, since I am a 2 month old newbie, there are still caches in Oak Mt. I haven't found, LOL!!! God bless you and your family, Bubba
  16. We will be using the metro. Staying at the Hyatt in Bethesda. Wife has a conference. Any nearte metro would be great. God bless you and your family, Bubba
  17. I am visting DC in May and will be staying in Bethesda (hope I spelled that right). What are some good caches (not virtual ones) that I can visit and leave some travel bugs from Alabama in? Thanks God bless you and your family, Bubba
  18. Howdy. Yep I have been really addicted. My brother-in-law (the violas) got me hooked. I wanted the travel bug from the Cahaba cache. I noticed there are NO caches in my immediate area. I am putting at least 1, maybe 2 out by next Sat in the Fultondale / Gardendale area. "the violas" live in the Pleasant Grove area where there is only 1 cache and they are putting some out by next Sat too. We want to create more N of B'ham, actually N of I-20/59. Maybe we'll see ya around. By the way, where did u get that avatar? God bless you and your family, Bubba
  19. Howdy, just started in March. Live in Fultondale, just north of B'ham (10 minutes) I noticed that there are no caches in this area of Fultondale, Gardendale but I plan on changing that in the next few weeks. God Bless Jeff, I noticed you were a Sheriff, I teach law at McAdory. Friends with the Col. in Bess. God bless you and your family, Bubba
