  1. Is there another way of getting the descriptions and log entries?
  2. Sorry if the question has been asked before. I am going to Virginia next week and would like to have a list of benchmarks and descriptions in my Treo. Is there a way to get the descriptions so that GSAK can read them? Thx.
  3. Mulitpy $30 by the thousands of users worldwide, add in the charge for travel bug tags, unique icons, tracking numbers for coins, and logo'd material. I am sure Groundspeak is not doing this out of the kindness of their heart. They are running a profitable....and growing business. I don't have that high of expectations either. Just saying that a reasonable assumption would be that someone would be immediately available on their busiest days. I am sure they are doing the best they can. And working under pressure is never fun. Could be worse. I was in the middle of poker game on pokerstars this week when their site went down. And that costs them a lot of money for every minute they are down.
  4. They already send us a bill. It is called Premium Membership. If someone's cell phone went off, they should be ashamed. Saturday and Sunday are their busiest days. I would expect they would have staff on site or certainly instantly available on the weekends.
  5. Still haven't seen the unique icon show up. Has anyone?
  6. My coin never showed the unique icon. Just the default PC one. Anyone know what happened??
  7. If you are in the neighbourhood, visit GC11PZV - The Rat's Demise. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...a9-c9e5795ad0e7

Are those coordinates right? In Europe? Yes they are. A nice little woods in Switzerland. Good Luck!!!!!

The "custom" reflective tape on my 60CSx is definitely a "reflection" of losing the CS. Don't know why I didn't think of putting tape there before. AND, even though it wasn't a subconscious wish, I love the CSx and am glad I have it. Although, at the time, losing a $500 GPS was a tough pill to swallow. As for finding micros, in fairness, the area I lost the GPS was waist high in downed trees, ferns, underbrush and I lost it somewhere along a zig zag line about 200 meters in length. The dadgum dog did find a tiny boot elastic. But not my GPS.

There is a 60CS at the following coordinates N 47 28.075 E 008 12.007 I lost it there in October and even the State Police article dog couldn't find it. Free to whoever finds it. I replaced it with a 60CSx.
  11. I activated one of the coins and it does not have a unique icon. Just the cents symbol?? Is something wrong?
  12. Have you started shipping the coins yet?
  13. Wouldn't miss this one. Had a great time last year. Incredibly well organized and lots of various caching to be done. Tequila
  14. After being FTF on last years' excellent series, Adventure Rat and I were fortunate enough to assist York Regional Police in aprehending an impaired driver that had driven his van 100 meters up a railroad track and then got the van stuck on the rails. Now, almost a year later, I have been supoenaed to appear in court on March 14th to testify against the guy. So I am looking forward to this year's event with trepidation. I am considering making the court case an event cache, complete with some local caching in Newmarket and lunch at a local restaraunt. Does anyone think cache-tech will approve it??? Tequila p.s. April 1 will also be bittersweet as it was the last time I cached with our teammate Tony (1701eh).
  15. Bushwhacker (GC2B27 ). It is a 5/5 cache that doesn't get many visits. 16 km trail in and 16 km out. Great cache location. East of Peterborough. Tequila
  16. Does anyone know how many accounts exist on gc.com? And how many of those are premium members?
  17. I would think mid-week would be the least active time. Can't imagine what Sunday is going to be like. If it is growing pains, then perhaps GC.com should stop accepting new members until they can provide an acceptable level of service to existing customers.
  18. Tie them from the inside out. That is, take the lace and feed it through the outside of the lace by taking it over top of the boot and feeding it back through. That will force the lace to keep the boot tight. Another tip. Buy really small bungee cords. Put them around the top of the boot and tuck your pant leg up in. Police do it all the time. Keeps pant legs dry and keeps ticks etc. out
  19. I think the USB Thumb Drive is a super idea. Great creativity.
  20. I would guess it is a gift certificate from Tim's. Do I get one for guessing right??? For our U.S. friends, Tim's is a major coffee/donut chain in Canada. Tequila
  21. Isn't that the whole point of placing a cache? Having people taking an interest in it? If you don't want anyone to look for the cache, why have it out there at all? I'd be thrilled if one of my caches was as popular as yours seems to be, from the posts above. i wasn't talking about people looking for the cache, i ment all the people who have already found it and are now watching it so they can throw in there 2 cents everytime someone logs a dnf If you take the time to read some of those "2 cents", you will notice they are from some of the most respected cachers in Canada (1701eh, may he rest in peace) and they were posting nothing more than the fact that Stage 1 was intact. Something that not only helps the person with the DNF but the cache owner, saving him a need to visit the cache. With respect to helping each other, I have mulitiple emails from jaredl asking for help on Markville Mall, The Big Sea, my A439 and others. In fact, I walked over to A439 on Sunday to assist jaredl because his GPS was off by over 40 meters. I can't remember exactly but I believe he had input the incorrect coordinates. I did have to walk him over and point to the area of the cache, just as I did for GordEtob on Revenge. I suspect jaredl would have a lot of DNF's if it wasn't for the geocaching community helping him out. So, jaredl, you can expect a lot of DNF's in the future. And I have placed your two other caches on my Ignore list. You might take the time to look up the expression "Let sleeping dogs lie....." Tequila
  22. Close enough. The complete answer is the police service who has jurisdiction over the area where the search is taking place. In most of Ontario, this would be the OPP Emergency Response Team. But in the case of regions or municipalities, it is the local police. Coast Guard do not have jurisdiction.. However, they, as well as Armed Forces, assist when called upon.
  23. We've had that question before: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=2357260 OK. How about this? In the case of a missing civilian in Ontario, who is responsible (in charge) for the search for the missing person?
  24. Georgraphy Question: Name the eastern most, the western most, the northern most and the southern most state in the United States. To win, you must get all four correct.
  25. Civil GPS receivers use the L1 frequency with 1575.42 MHz (wavelength 19.05 cm). The L1 frequency carries the navigation data as well as the SPS code (standard positioning code). The L2 frequency (1227.60 MHz, wavelength 24.45 cm) only carries the P code and is only used by receivers which are designed for PPS (precision positioning code). Mostly this can be found in military receivers. Tequila
