  1. Thank's for that Pup Patrol. Will probably keep to two accounts. I think she wants to keep her own identity in geocaching but thought it may seem odd with us both going together and doing separate logs. I think this will put her mind at ease. After all I suppose if you team up with a friend for the day and find several caches, you will both claim your finds on their respective accounts.
  2. By false I meant it looks like two visits where in effect its just one. I didn't mention confusion, I just merely asked for opinions from other people who might have had a similar decision to make.
  3. Although I have been around for a bit, this is a more basic question. My wife has took a great interest in geocaching as well now. Initially she has started her own account on here as she has her own computer and iPhone, plus I have got her a eTrex 30 for Christmas. The question is whether its a good idea to have two accounts or just the one as a team/family account. I am not bothered about the cost of two premium accounts more what any other limitation or advantages are that I haven't thought about. When we go, we go together and when home I have been filling the log out and so has she filling hers. Something she said has prompted this query. It makes a caches visit log look false with one visit and two entries. So I am looking for opinions.
  4. These are the results from the Montana sitting on the window sill all afternoon. As you can see it tracked pressure on the graph.Ignore the lump at the beginning. Thats where I calibrated and set to variable elevation. It's strange watching the graph but the digital reading was static. Settings Note Baro digital reading stayed at 1006 the whole time
  5. Mines sat on the window sill at the moment and has been for the last 3 hours using your settings. So far I can see a trace thats changing though the digital display of baro pressure at the top hasn't changed. So I am a bit confused now. I would have thought the digital baro field I have set up would match the trace.
  6. When you did the test did you have a constant good satellite lock over the test period?
  7. I notice you have the Barometer Mode set to Variable Elevation. I would have thought it should be set to fixed elevation as your in a fixed location monitoring a pressure trend. I think last time I tried the test I had the setting at Fixed Elevation and it seemed to work. I will try again. Incidentally if I set mine to Variable Elevation it shows an incorrect barometric pressure as I am inside the house, no decent sat fix as a reference of height. Thats why I think fixed elevation should be used.
  8. While updates are coming thick and fast they will probably be announced as in beta state. No use sending it out as a final if there is a good chance of a update needed again even for something simply like a missed spelling error.
  9. Don't worry about FW issues. They are all minor things now and In general Garmin seems to be on the ball as far as correcting issues as they are reported. I can only speak from my personal experience though.
  10. I have had a Montana about a month now and am very happy with it. Any problems I have reported have been quickly dealt with. All very minor issues or suggestions for improvements. I have a 60CSx as well, but that doesn't seem to get used as much now. I am very tempted on a Garmin 62s for a smaller easier to carry GPSr when I don't want to carry the Montana, but I think I would probably be disappointed as the Montana has such a good readable display, the extra size making all the difference. Plus all the extra features that have been added to the Montana would probably mean the 62s would take too much of a back seat.
  11. Well after 2 days battery still at 100%. I think it might be the problem you had Yogazoo as it was probably after removing it from the computer. It had probably hung and as I didn't try to turn it on didn't realise. It still takes power in this hung state.
  12. In that case I have no idea yet what has drained the power so damned fast. Just checked it and it's been sat turned off for 24 hours now. Still says 100%. I did turn off the save always though. Will leave it a few days and if still got good life left will try with Save Always turned back on.
  13. I had this issue but thought it was due to not removing the devices correctly on a Mac. It could be related to the save always as I was conducting those baro tests recently in that other thread. Incidentally, if you leave set to save always. How long does your battery last. I came to switch on the Montana yesterday having not touched it for about 4 or 5 days and it was totally flat from about 80% when I left it.
  14. This is a problem I had with my 60CSx and a Mac. These hidden dot files are known as Mac "dust" and really upset the 60CSx when they get onto the SD card. I use an app called Blueharvest from ZeroTwenty http://www.zeroonetwenty.com/blueharvest4/ to keep external drives clean of Mac dust automatically. There are probably other methods but this is quick, easy and automatic.
  15. Lol. Welcome to the mysteries of Garmin maps. :-)
  16. I use Garmins own Basecamp on my Mac. It displays tracks from the GPSr very well.
  17. Heres another plot. Quite a strange one. I left the Montana with the same settings on the desk for the last 5 hours. About 3 hours ago there is a spike to 1044mb. Something to keep an eye on. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  18. Just to be certain it want a fluke yesterday I tried the experiment again with exactly the same settings as Subraid shows above. I have had the GPS turned off for the last two hours but noticed on the weather station the pressure was rising here. This is what has been recorded since it was turned off. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Something I have noticed happening since this latest beta. I occasionally get a warning message when I switch on saying An Image File in a Custom Map is far too Big. Images that are Too Big will not appear on the map. I haven't added any maps or images since the beta update. In fact as a precaution I deleted any images that were still in the JPG folder in case it was one of them. In no one has any ideas I will drop a note to the beta team.
  19. Mine is 3 weeks old. I was told to wait for the latest batch because of a delay due to a problem. I presumed this was the display issue I read about.
  20. Nope, my settings are the same as WrongwayUKs and I'm getting the error. I've send this picture to the Montana-Team: https://forum.garmin.de/attachment.php?attachmentid=3781&stc=1&d=1323016705 This is what I get. The Montana has been off for the last two hours. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  21. I must admit I am struggling to see the straight line plot problem. I have just done a test. I have set Auto Cal off. Baro Mode fixed elevation and save always. Plot type baro pressure. I calibrated altitude to 190 ft which is my location ASL. Then turned off the Montana. To effect a pressure change I drove to sea level and back. Total time was 1 hour. On return powered up and checked the baro plot. It had followed my pressure change of the journey (about 6 millibar for 190 feet). So not sure if I have done the test correct or if it's an intermittent problem.
  22. Yes I did and get a reply, that they can't reproduce this error. I did hardreset my device and it still didn't work (as it was in 3.60). So I wonder if I'm the only one with this error. I must admit this isn't an area I have experimented with yet. If I get chance I will try it out this week and see what results I get.
  23. Have you emailed the beta team at Garmin. I have sent an email for two separate things and had replies with good results.
  24. When you plug your Garmin into the USB port, it appears as a drive called GARMIN. From the field notes option in your profile on the webpage there is an Upload My Field Notes link. Click that which opens another page with two buttons on it. Choose File and Upload Field Notes. Click Choose File and navigate to the geocache_visits.txt file that is in the garmin directory in the above GARMIN drive and select it. You should see the file geocache_visits.txt as the selected file shown next to the Choose File button. Now click the Upload Field Notes button on the same webpage. This will upload your file. Once uploaded it's advisable to delete the geocache_visits.txt file thats still sat in the Garmin folder on the Garmin drive which is your Montanna. Hope that makes sense.
