  1. Thanks for checking! Received that one @niraD, and everything else I expect (CO notifications, MC notifications, etc.)
  2. My log's definitely gone, and the only message I received was from CO through MC. Relogging now…
  3. I understood there was an automatic e-mail alert to the finder if a CO deleted their log? I did receive one through message centre from the rather befuddled CO.
  4. In my books deleting bogus logs makes you a good CO not a bad one… I wish more would do it.
  5. One of our locals has ‘taken 2 trackables’ with him (one’s his personal), and is dropping & then immediately picking up them up in every cache he visits, for an additional 8 points. Huh. Well it’s always been about how you play the game…
  6. Yeah it’s terrible wording. Thought I’d experiment: I dropped a trackable into a mystery (with 10+ FPs) today using a single Found log entry in Cachly, and received 15 points for the cache plus 4 for the trackable.
  7. In related trivia: the letters ISOUL/LOUIS aren’t used, to avoid confusion with similar looking numbers and prevent some profane words
  8. Thanks, and @barefootjeff From my calcs PP starts 1am Tue 20th in New Zealand, and finishes midnight Tue 10th (because we move out of daylight savings on the 1st April). Start & end times for PP are both given in UTC, so sounds like it's the date submitted, rather than the found date, which will be used?! What a mess. Think I'll avoid the start & end periods; and log the same day. Oh, and only drop trackables into trads lacking in FPs.
  9. New owner here… Is there a way to sleep the 64S? i.e. put the unit into low power usage mode, while not having to wait 5 seconds for power up then satellite lock. Is there a keyboard lock to prevent accidental button presses? I’ve tried the Battery Save Setting. What’s your work flow when you don’t be using the GPSr for an hour or 2? Thanks
  10. I read the question differently… Yes. When you’ve finished editing the cache, just click Save or Save & Preview instead of the default Submit for Review — at this stage only you can see the page. Once all your cache pages have been created, go back and edit each one, and click Submit for Review — now the reviewer can see the page too.
  11. I agree the timezone support is Byzantine, but last time I checked, the time was saved if submitting via the API. 20:00 and 19:00 Zulu are noon Pacific Standard/Daylight Time, which is old logs saved/edited through the website. Since the ‘fix’ earlier this year, I think the API converts local time to Pacific, then saves with a ‘z’ designation. Don’t know what the website does. Prior to that, the API converted local time to UTC. @deepo suggest you take note of the time, and log a find through the website, and another through the API, and look at what’s recorded. Or give up and parse either GS’s or PGC’s date statistics
  12. Good to know, thanks @Isonzo Karst. I’m amused by the consternation that Austria being reset to D1 must have caused (@AnnaMoritz).
  13. The caching guidelines state Tip: Event caches should always have a 1-star difficulty rating because it is easy for geocachers to “find” events. They are in plain sight or can be found in a few minutes of searching. It does not matter how difficult the event activities may be. Wondering why GS or reviewers don't enforce this when listing an event, to prevent abusing the rules?
  14. Different limitations… 3rd party apps (using the API) can only show the full cache details for three caches per day, unless you’re premium.
  15. Paying members can use Project-GC to perform advanced searches on the owner/adopter name: https://project-gc.com/Home/Dashboard#AdvancedSearch
  16. I don’t understand the rant: @HHL gave a workaround which can map a bookmark list on the website right now @Ben H said GS have a proper solution on their radar I corrected @Diamond Head who thought he couldn’t use this workaround Nobody has said the current system is perfect or couldn’t be improved, we’re just trying to help.
  17. As a Mac user… see @HHL's post about hacking the URL — it's very cool. Basically: Find the BM code for your list Edit that onto the search URL Your bookmark list will appear as search results Click the usual Map icon Profit If you're a bit techie you can install GSAK under something like VirtualBox.
  18. I've solved almost all the puzzles in my city, so that really helps for seeing the actual empty spaces. There might be someone in your area in the same position that you can ask?
  19. So geoart would look nice once all the caches were found There was the usual ignored feedback to GS, in the announcements forum I think.
  20. It sounds like something's got into your browser or computer — there's a smattering of reports in Google, e.g. http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/19055.aspx
  21. I used 3 methods in our recent trip overseas: on iOS you can install Microsoft Translate — it has an atrocious interface but adds a 'translate' option to Safari's share menu, so you can translate a cache page, including logs, in place. It has some offline capabilities. again on iOS, Cachly has an option to translate each piece of info on a cache — but you have to e.g. select each individual log entry GSAK has a macro to translate caches. This is the best option for offline translations, but is so fiddly I wouldn't bother again unless definitely going out of cell coverage. As others have said, sometimes coords are all you need. I found translations only gave a rough idea of the page, and some languages are notably better than others… French > English should be pretty good. Have a look at some caches before you go to get an idea of what you'll be up for. Attend an event! It's wonderful meeting a random group of friendly people in a new country that you share a hobby with.
  22. Yep, Corrected Coordinates are a special type of waypoint which you can edit through the website. If you're solving puzzles to point to a final location (rather than a further waypoint), it should be all you need.
  23. I find the personal cache notes useful but don't want to rely on them entirely… like everything cloud based I like to have a backup copy somewhere. Is there a way to backup/export all my personal cache notes?
  24. I run 4 apps/programs/sites which access GC via the API. It's a nuisance and time consuming to have to reauthorise them repeatedly. It decreases security: rather than entering my (long random) password once on my phone, I have to save it in a note in case it expires when I'm away from home.
