  1. From the forum guidelines linked at the top of every page Closing this duplicate thread. PS: While I'm at it, let me remind people those same guidelines address sockpuppets
  2. This has nothing to do with ham radio, so moving it to the proper forum.
  3. Brian, can you hook us up with this one. According to the error page, this cache can't be displayed because it hasn't been archived yet. ??? So when are we (NJ) gonna place an original NJ stash plaque to place at this spot. I wanna by the supply before the tax increase hits. The first listed cache in NJ was indeed gerbiL cacHe, reviewed by Jeremy himself. There was an earlier cache, the one 'Snat listed, but it was never published. The cache container was a plastic bag, and the posted coords put it in the middle of someone's house. There are 2 parks within .1 mile of those coords, most likely the cache was hidden there, but there is no record of any attempt to correct the coords. There were few users of Geocaching.com in 2000, and early hiders who became inactive back then had their profiles taken over by Jeremy, so he would be the contact if a cache hide became a problem. No big deal back then, there were less then 100 caches in the world! But because of that, there is no history of the hider, since his profile resolves to Jeremy's. Due to the way the site was set up back in 2000, even unapproved caches were also viewable by other cachers, if they knew or guessed the url. If a cache was not listed, it was supposed to be archived hidden. Some caches like the one Brian linked were archived wrong, and were findable by a search for archived caches until the mistake was noticed and corrected. So go ahead and place the plaque at Gerbil. It's the first cache in NJ that was actually listed.
  4. Not ham radio related. Moving to proper forum.
  5. Already being discussed here.
  6. Terms Of Use. Something you agreed to follow when you joined the site. The parts that are in play here The additional part for PQs is here. In simple terms, you can not share Pocket Queries, and if you do, you can be banned from using this website.
  7. 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Website performance issues belong in this forum, although there is usually less tolerence for i.n.e.p.t. posts here.
  8. Good idea. Why does my post say JMBella?
  9. Not geocaching related. Locked.
  10. This topic concerns all geocachers not just ones in New England. Moving to general discussion area.

Closing this thread in favor of crusso's duplicate thread in the main forums.
  12. Ironically, this thread has nothing to do about geocaching.
  13. Some things to keep in mind when posting: Respect: Respect the guidelines for forum usage, and site usage. Respect Groundspeak, its employees, volunteers, yourself, fellow community members, and guests on these boards. Whether a community member has one post or 5,000 posts, they deserve the same respect. Foul Language and obscene images will not be tolerated. This site is family friendly, and all posts and posters must respect the integrity of the site. Personal Attacks and Flames will not be tolerated. If you want to praise or criticize, give examples as to why it is good or bad, general attacks on a person or idea will not be tolerated.
  14. Northeast Talk Geocaching in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, DC, and West Virginia. Since this thread has nothing to do with geocaching in the Northeast, I'm locking it. Please do not reopen or repost. Thank you.
  15. Since this seems to be a reoccuring theme, and hasn't been corrected yet, let me do so. The mod who closed those topics is not just some yank mod overstepping his bounds. The mods here have no modding power outside the forum they handle. The mod who closed the topics here is one of only a handful of supermods. He is special in that he's entrusted to enforce the forum guidelines system-wide. There are a few others like him. Jeremy, Hydee, and Rothafari are the others you might occasionally deal with. He was doing exactly what he was supposed to be doing, and that is enforcing the forum guidelines anywhere and everywhere on the website. The only issue that should be dealt with is the apology for all the nasty comments and emails he's received for doing the exact thing Groundspeak asked him to do.
  16. update from http://www.pickledbeast.com If any new info surfaces these threads will be updated.
  17. Thanks for the post. I'm locking this thread just so that all information stays in one spot. If anyone knows anything please post in the thread linked above.
  18. Please keep in mind the Cache Listing Requirements/Guidelines for hiding a cache, especially this part: Solicitations are also off-limits. For example, caches perceived to be posted for religious, political, or social agendas may not be listed. Geocaching is supposed to be a light, fun activity, not a platform for an agenda.

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all . . . And a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2005, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great, (not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only "AMERICA" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference of the wishee. 20. Before this goes any further, perhaps some people need to be pointed to the furum guidelines linked at the upper left hand of every forum page. Here's a part to pay close attention to.
  21. Odd. According to your profile you hid a cache on 12/3 and it has been found twice. Since the cache owner states he has not placed the actual cache yet, I've unapproved the cache page. Please email me through the site when the cache is actually in place and I will review it again. I'll also email the 2 people that logged finds on it, since if you haven't placed the cache yet, they must not have really found it.
