  1. Near-Field Communication (NFC) Tags like in your credit card can be programed to give information when scanned.
  2. Still very respectable numbers. Well done barefootjeff
  3. Sadly, I have not had the opportunity to go and find an Ape Cache, maybe one day.
  4. Must Find Caches - Ape Cache Back in 2001 there were 14 caches placed around the world as a promotion sponsored by 20th Century Fox to generate interest in their blockbuster movie Planet of the Apes. There are only two caches remaining today. Mission 4: Southern Bowl is in Brazil and Mission 9: Tunnel of Light in Washington, US. These caches have their own Cache Type classification with Geocaching. Below is a link to an article, if you would like to read more about the project. There are also links to both Ape Caches. https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2021/05/20-years-of-project-a-p-e/ https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCC67_mission-4-southern-bowl https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC1169_mission-9-tunnel-of-light A huge thank you to scouter74 for this article.
  5. Webcam Caches are a Legacy Cache Type. They should be on everyone's "Need to Find" list. I have only found a few myself. Just make sure you log them correctly with a picture from the webcam itself. On November 5th a Webcam in Wyoming GCKKCA was Archived because it was not functioning properly, and Finders were logging the cache with selfies. There is only 193 Webcam Caches Worldwide and currently 7 of these Webcam Caches are disabled. If you are a Premium Member, you can access the list below. 6. What is your Favourite GeoArt? It can be something you have Seen or a Series that you have Completed. See some Examples below:
  7. Hey Everyone, Just wondering what everyone's number? How many Finds, Fav Points and Cache Hides do you have? See mine below:
  8. The NFC caches are a great cache type that is often overlooked. I have only found a few of that type but they are always good fun.
  9. Fantastic Well done on all the Gadget Caches juzzmagic.
  10. I think that Adventure, Friendship and Excitement is the best three words so far.
  11. If only you lived in the ACT we have more caches than you can find in a lifetime.
  12. I think there have been to many Streak Challenges in a row. They are becoming boring. Come on HQ think of something else.
  13. All unused Virtual Cache credits have now been archived
  14. Country Souvenir creation has always been at the whim of Groundspeak who only released one or two a year. This in recent years has changed and now more and more Country Souvenirs have been popping up every month. I agree with RuideAlmeida. You have to grow your local community, all geocachers in your country should place and find more caches. Host Events and welcome new players. Given time Groundspeak will see the changes to geocaching in your area and this in turn could result in the creation of a Country Souvenir. I waited several years for Hong Kong to get a Country Souvenir.
  15. Time is running out! You have only one month left to create a Virtual Cache experience. On March 1, 2023 (5:00pm Pacific Standard Time), Geocaching HQ will archive all Virtual Rewards that have not been submitted for review. Would it not be a better idea to offer those un-used Virtual caches to other people? So many people I know would give anything for another Virtual Cache not to mention all the people who missed out on getting one in the first place. What are people's thoughts on the matter?
  16. I have found a few where you are required to look up additional information online.
  17. Question - What containers make the Best Geocache? Ammo cans, old food jars (clean of course), Preform Test Tubes, Tupperware, something from a Geocaching store, Bison Tubes, Film Canisters??? What type of containers do you use?
  18. What is the Best geoart that you have seen? I found the following photo online and think it's amazing. The time and effort to put a Geoart piece like that together is unimaginable.
  19. My question is this - When you find an Earthcache, do you expect to find all information at Ground Zero? Or do you like Earthcaches where you are required to Google the information? Maybe a mix of both? My opinion, I don't want to Google the information. It,s not the point of an EartIhcache.
  20. 350 is about when I stopped chasing the FTFs for the same reason.
  21. What makes a Good Geocaching Hide? For me, Bigger is always better. I love finding big caches. Also don't hide a micro in a place that could easily conceal a larger container. Make sure the container is waterproof. It will save you from doing maintenance in the future.
  22. First To Finds What's everyone's thoughts on First To Finds? Did you know that First to Finds are not officially recognized by Geocaching HQ? In fact the chasing and Logging of First to Finds is a Sub-Game created by Geocachers themselves. Personally I do not actively chase First to Finds any more. In the first few years when I started Geocaching I chased them.
