  1. shame on those of you that leave food!! That's a big no-no. I've "found" at least 3 cashes that must have had food in them from the way an animal chewed his way into the cashe and contents were spread out over several feet, one cashe even had the rubber bouncy ball chewed!! Even gum is a bad idea. Dollar store items or the Target dollar spot are some of my favorite places to buy trading items....but let's face it I'm a woman and men just don't shop the same.......and this started out as a male dominated sport. Just spend the money of "good" stuff and try to influence others to do the same. Or just don't trade items, many people just sign the log and post the find....after all finding the cashe is most of the fun
  2. Best find so far was $2 in a cashe, sometimes we find quarters. We've never found anything really worth keeping.
  3. When we first started cashing we thought they items where cheap and kid toys too, but what we have found it that we buy and trade better items to make it more interesting for those cashe behind us...so the same. We also learned that the toys are what the kids "endure" the hiking for. Cashing is what motivated our daughter to become a hiker, and now she doesn't even care about trading items, and she thinks up stuff for putting in cashes. Some people are cheap and others are not. What really "gets our goat" is those that leave behind religious or political stuff or business cards....hey folks this is a hobby, not a platform.
  4. I'm right there with ya, can't figure mine out either, but my husband did figure out how to plug in the waypoints, but then we went looking and didn't find the cashe. I expected it to just point me in the direction, is it the gps?? Or is it me??
