  1. And half of them are FTF's ........I really must get out of bed earlier!
  2. Hardly, I've just had a quick look and I reckon I can do all that it can just using my PDA and Memory Map!......Ade
  3. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, been away from my machine... Memory Map 4, which covers all the Ordanance Survey maps I need. Destinator 5 which gives me road coverage. Although not at the same time as both programs have their own respective SD Cards because of their size. However, put both programs on a 2GB SD card and I see no reason why they shouldn't run together, although I'd imagine speed and a conflict with the COM port that uses the SatNav might be an issue. But switching programs is as easy as just changing the cards. GPXView, iSilo and Ebook does everything else I need/want for Geocaching, links to all available under under Resources/Software on Geocaching.com as far as I know. Someone has pointed out that the onboard battery is a little inefficient, can't say that I've ever had any bother with mine, but in fairness I have a tendancy to only ever use it in the car and thus it's connected up to the 12Volts. I have on occasion used it standalone and it gives me 3-4 hours on a full charge, dependant on how bright I set the screen. For what it's worth I always find using the MemoryMap on the Acer a lot more accurate than my Garmin, I've no idea why other than they use slightly different technologies. The Acer seems to be accurate down to about 8-10feet using 1:25000 scale maps, whilst the Garmin as we know is only good for about 20-30 feet. As I said Ive no idea why or really care, but I've never been that geeky! Between the two systems I get where I want/need to go and to me that's what matters. Cache and dashes in the car though are really easy with the Acer! The Mio is a great machine, but so it should be it's twice the chuffing price, but despite all this I can't fault the Acer for the money in fact I currently trying to pin down another cheapie as a backup, before all the new ones are gone!......Ade
  4. I use a cheap as chips Acer N35, which I think you can still get, if not try the Acer N50. The N35 has SatNav on it, will run all the software you'll want/need for Geocaching and you won't bawl your eyes out if you drop it or break it some other way. OK, state of the art it ain't but it does the job for me. I've even got all of the MemoryMaps OS maps on a 2GC SD which works a treat even if it is a little slow. I also have a new Mio, which is start of the art and chuffing expensive and not something you'd want to drop! Have a look at the Acer though, who knows it might do want you want it to do? Mean't to say you should be able to pick one up for less than £120, don't pay anymore for it thou, look at Ebay/Amazon etc... Ade
  5. I've found one or two coins like this, generally they are attached to something of low value such as a cheap toy etc. I've always been happy to move them on for folk and you still get the icon in your list if you find em! Ade
  6. Don't think it needs to be mandatory, however I do admit to finding it useful as I myself am disabled. Therefore if someone knows where the best or closest place to park is, it just makes life that little bit easier. I also try to include them in the few caches I've posted/placed, purely for the same reasons! Ade
  7. Yes and only last month as it happened, and while I was laying in bed, by what I beleive was just a very large house spider! Well large for these shore anyway. It's well known house spiders can bite apparently........Had a fair bit of swelling, similar to a horsefly bite, another creature that seems to enjoy having a munch on my flesh! Must be my group A neg blood I reckon...LOL Anyways, liberal amounts of anti-histomine cream (Boots) kept the swelling and irritation at bay.... Ade
  8. Always carry a tube of anti-histomine, works a lot better than a dock leaf when the inevitable fall into the nettles happens! As has happened to me on more than one occasion in the very short time I've been Geocaching! Also rather handy when you get bitten by insects such as the rather nasty Horse-Fly that took a chunk out of me last time out .......Ade
  9. For my tu'penny worth I've had a the same problem of trying to find out who some local landowers were in my local area. Now this may not apply to you, but it maybe worth a shot as it paid off for me. I got in touch with the Secretary of the local Parish Council, who willingly gave me all the details I needed including copies of the local Boundary Maps. I found out who the secretary was by getting in contact with the Regional Council, in my case North Somerset...... Might not work for you, but it maybe worth a shot as I said!.......Ade
  10. Yep we've nowt else better to do, so we'll see you there as day visitors on Saturday! Ade
  11. Oh I can't wait to bump into you, you can teach my missus all about that ........Ouch I've just clumped around the ear!
  12. Do you think we could make all the caches this obvious, I might have half a chance of finding em then
  13. Easily spotted by Muggles wanting to know what the hell Geocaching is as well if you as me. Each to their own I guess, personally I'm of the like to be unnoticed type who doesn't encourage muggles, much prefering to be left alone to get on with it type approach. Unless I'm specifically asked and dependant on whether I like the look of/attitude of the person asking I tend to use the stealthy 'mind your own business attitude'......Probably get slated for that now I suppose?
  14. You could also try here http://www.geocacher-u.com/ which is where I've sourced some of mine. There or one or two other nice printables there as well that might interest you... Ade
  15. As a very quick suggestion to those whose spelling isn't perhaps up to scratch, download Google Toolbar. This has a tool that will let you spell-check any online forms and forums such as this before you post. Just an idea of course........Ade
  16. Either drinking... or taking stunning photographs... Well, may as well blow my own trumpet about the pictures, no-one else will I'll back your photographs if you back mine mate As for the drinking I won't comment on that being as I'm teetotal these days......I have taken up cycling, which makes for a funny sight I must admit! If you can imagine this dervish of a man hairing down a hill using his buttocks as stabilisers that will kinda give you the idea of how I'm getting along with that...... I've had titanium plates fitted to the a** of my shorts! Which means at night I don't need lights because you can see the sparks for miles...... But it's doing me good.....Well so I've been told!
