  1. Hello All,

I have a quick question. When I'm geocaching, and I want turn by turn navigation, I turn on the automotive mode on my Oregon. When I get to the destination, the ground zero is the closest spot that road can take me to. At this point, I have to switch over to "geocaching" mode to be able to locate the cache.

Is there a way around this? I get tired of switch the profiles when I am city caching.

    Thanks!

  2. Wow! I am so surprised and honored! I can't believe it.

I've been a geocaching addict ever since I was introduced to the sport about a year and a half ago at a teacher's workshop. I own a few personal geocoins, ones that mean a lot to me. I have the Tranquility geocoin (two of them), an Eagle Scout geocoin, and the Cache Matrix geocoin (gotta love the Matrix series!).

I have always loved this coin, and saw it the first time when I climbed Smith Rocks in Redmond, Oregon. The trip to the cache was very steep and tiring. I was so excited because this was first first coin that I had even seen, and immediately fell in love with it. I kept it for about a week, showing friends and family, and then placed it in another local cache called the Skylight Cave cache. I decided to place the coin in this cache. Unfortunately, someone took the coin, and I haven't heard word of it since. The cache was recently archived as well, and we are heading out tomorrow to place a new one in the vicinity.

As for the contest, I usually look around the forums, but rarely post. I saw this topic start during my prep (I am a Middle School teacher), and spent some time trying to figure it out. When I saw that address on the package, I typed it in a search engine, and came up with a Celtic Spirit address, so I went with that theme. At the end of my prep, the contest was still going on, and I had to get back to teaching. Needless to say, I was VERY surprised to see my name as the FTP winner.

Thank you to all the made this happen. I think that geocachers are some of the kindest group of people that I've met. I am truely honored and excited!

  3. I don't quite understand the game as I am a fairly new to this forum. The coin you displayed, however, is indeed the first geocoin that I ever saw when I started caching about a year a half ago. I had found it at the top of a cliff near where I live.

I ended up putting it in another neat cache, and put a watchlist on it. It has since been muggled, which is a real disappointment.

Back to the game ... so it's a new coin that you just received ... is it the new celtic "Tree of Life" geocoin?

  4. Hello!

I'm looking for a good car mount for the Oregon. I already have the mount that I purchased for my Colorado, and I'm not too thrilled with it. I don't care to take the bulky back part on and off when I'm geocaching. Now that the Oregon has a lanyard attachment, I'd prefer not to have the bulky part at all.

So ... what are you using?

    Thanks!

  5. Hello all!

I'm trying to develop a waterfall earthcache for a location by my town. I have the historical information about the area, but I need help developing the "educational" task for this area. All there is, is a trail head that will take you to three different falls within 2 1/2 miles.

I've thought about a water flow question, but wanted to pick your brains about some other educational tasks. What do you think?

    Thanks,

    Wes

  6. Hey all!

I just installed the City Navigator program to my Colorado 400t, and I have a quick question. Is it possible to have City Navigator automatically route you to a cache when you click it? Right now, when I clilck a geocache, I get the "as the crow flies" distance, and then I have to go back and click "Go to Location". I'd like for my unit to do this automatically every time.

    Thanks,

  7. Hello all! First time poster, long time lurker!

I'm looking to make a tombstone cache, and I've been searching around for some ideas. Have any of you seen any well done ones?

We have an upscale resturant in our town that has a few wooden headstones that state "Here lies ..." and ends with something funny. I'd like to do the same, but trying to figure out where and how to incorporate the cache. The cache will be in a high muggle zone, so it needs to be very secure!

    Thanks for your ideas!
