  1. You could check the display setup and see if a different color would work better for you. My 60CX seems very bright at 50% also. The default daytime color is Diamond. Does the screen change to a darker color during the evening? I set the screen to diamond. It does seem like the brightest sceen color. I hope this is enough to make a difference. What else is there that would effect the screen brightness? Thanks
  2. I have a Garmin 60 CSX and I have to have the back light on as bright as it will go to be able to see the screen good. Day or night. If I don't have it on I have to move the gps back and forth up and down to be able to read the screen. Is this normal for the 60CSX? Maybe there are some adjustments I could change to make this better? I have an older summit GPS and I think it is a lot easier to see the screen. Thanks, Cedarfluteman
  3. Let us know when your done price shopping where the best place to buy the city navigator maps. Thanks
  4. I just talked to Garmin and the city navigator NT north america 2008 version has been released to suppliers or is available from Garmin for $139.00, DVD or micro SD card full version. My question is has anyone got this yet? And does it have issues or is it good to go? Thanks, Cedarfluteman
  5. Well I just bought a new Garmin map60csx off Ebay that came brand new in the box. I was looking in the manual and in the section with the warranty there is a paragraph stating that if you buy your gps off any internet sales you are not covered by the warranty or any rebates. So I guess if I have a problem I'm out of luck. Seems like a company would back there product no matter where it came from. They are the company that made the thing? That's like saying if you bought a Ford but it wasn't from XYZ dealership the warranty is no good. I guess I just have an issue with that. But thought it was a good thing to pass on to anyone thinking about buying a new GPS. Anybody had any dealings with this yet?
  6. Ditto! Cx to CSx, now going to HCx. Well I would say mine is less than what I would like it to be.
  7. When city navigator NT 2008 version is available I want to get the DVD. Now will the sd card that comes with the gps hold all the CN maps? If not can you pick and choose what you load into the sd card? If so how much will go into the card that came with the Garmin Map60 csx? Or am I going to have to buy a new sd card? What's the best thing to do here? Thanks
  8. So one really needs to have the maps on DVD instead of the SD card to be able to make the routes on the computer first. Or can all this be done just as easy on the gps?
  9. What do you do if you don't want to take the route that garmin picks for you. Say I want to go to the destination using a different route? How can you change this? Also if you have the maps on your computer can you make routes and then download them to the gps? Just trying to understand this stuff before I spend my money. Thanks
  10. It seems like the posibiliy of getting bit by something while digging around in the bushes and tree's and stumps would be high. What's your take on this? So far I have been luckey. But in other areas the risk would be a lot higher.
  11. Yes. NT has better compression. However it won't work on some older GPS units. So if I buy this on sd card it plugs right into my Map 60 csx and it's ready to go? If I get it on DVD I still have to buy a new sd card to load it on? That's like another $30?
  12. The "nt" version was designed for "car" units and is constructed slightly differently. You can fit the entire City Navigator NT onto a 1GB microSD card. The "regular" City Navigator won't fit onto that size of card - you'd need a 2GB card for it. Other than that there should't be any difference at all as long as they are both new versions. If the NT version isn't updated then the 2008 version will have updated waypoints and possibly some new or corrected road information. So do both versions look and work and cost the same?
  13. What's the difference between (city navigator nt) and (city navigator v2008) ?
  14. Which is the best one to get the micro sd card loaded with city navigator north america or the DVD? And with the new update is the DVD still available? I looked on Garmins site and didn't see the DVD? Or maybe I was looking in the wrong place. Thanks
  15. In the Gps there is a setting for true north or magnetic north. Which is the one I should choose or does it matter much? Thanks
  16. I did what Sergzak recomended and I got them to load. Still learning here. Thanks for the replies.
  17. Go to the Garmin Geocaching website. On the right side of the page under "Geocaching links", click on the "myGarmin Geocaching" link. You will have to create a myGarmin account but it's free and after doing so will allow you to download the Communicator Plugin. Thank you! I will give that a try. The GPS does put the waypoints from the GPS into the mapsource. So it is communicating thus far.
  18. If your GPS connects via USB then you just need the driver so that you computer recognizes it as a GPS. It would be found on the CD. Of course it can also be found on garmin.com. My GPS unit didn't even come with a CD. Well I have installed the trip and waypoint manager and I assume the driver got loaded? But when I get on Geocaching.com and check the box and select download that's all I get is a message stating ( Garmin Communicator Plugin Not Detected) So what do I do from here?
  19. So with EasyGPS do you still need to load the cd that comes with the Garmin or not?
  20. With a map 60scx how does the geocache get loaded into the gps from the geocaching website? Do you need the software that came with the GPS or something different? Or maybe 2 programs? Please let me know how this works. Thanks
  21. On Garmin's website the compatability for maps don't mention City Navigator. They just mention Blue Chart. Am I missing something here or is that the new version of maps that will be available for the map 60 csx that takes the place of City Navigator? Looks like you can get a section of the US or the whole thing. Comments?
  22. So if I was to get the City Navigator NT and they come out with a new version would you have upgrades to the City Navigator NT or how would that work? And what would the new version do that the City Navigator NT wouldn't? Thanks
  23. In the map60 CSX which map software is needed for city streets and country roads in detail? Is it the City Navigator NT or what would be the best? Thanks
  24. Does the maps that would be of much use ( like city navigator) have to be purchased from Garmin or will other map programs work with the 60 csx. I have a version of Streets and Trips on my computer now but, I am assuming this would not work for this?
