After ploughing my way through the internet i landed my self at the Canadian Geodetic Survey Division of the canadian government. I then found the Canadian Spatial Reference System Online Database(I love those big words). And after painstakingly waiving my rights to sue the Queen and Country I then had a 1 year membership. I then, after once again waiving my rights to sue The Crown, Got my hot little hands on a program called GPSPASE and GPS-h. Could anybody tell me what they do?!? A confused Geocacher Canoehead

Hi I've poked around the forums and realised that I may have a benchmark right across the street from me. I took it at night so the flash made it ugly but so I'll describe it. Ringed around the outside reads "British coloumbia control survey". Then a crown at the very top. Then the numbers "78H7597". Right above it there is what looks like a year but it only reads "19". Could you please tell me if this is a benchmark?

The best topo maps are pieces of paper. I am fortunate to own nearly a complete set of highly detailed topographical maps for British Coloumbia. If you get a map with lat. and lon. markings on the side and one of those plotting grids ( those funky X shaped rulers for plotting map coords.) you cant beat a topo and a GPS. Anyway, maps and a compass do not run out of battery power I do admit, and do not want to get yelled at for, GPS is an extremely powerful tool that the colour of the screen makes no difference on its effectiveness.

Because were better... heh... no. Somthing simmilar along those lines, why does nobody do the closest cache to your home, why do we have to travel far to get it. the closest one to me is like 1 km away and i havent visited it yet. .:Canoe Head:.

Hi, my old and somwhat unreliable 12xl would like some new software. Thanks to garmin they forgot about poor old version 2.02, they have upgrades for nearly everything else, but nothing for my old friend. Even though i think she is making up numbers, i always geocache with her. If anyone has an updater to update from version 2.02 to better, or has anything else to say, Please post. .:Canoe Head:.

My Garmin GPS 12 XL is great (a little inaccurate at times) bus good overall, have you seen a software updater for version 2.somthing to 3.somthing? Niether have I. I see 3-4 not 2-3 grrrrr..... Garmin..... .:Canoe Head:.
