  1. No, they announced at the beginning of the year (Maybe even last year) that they were taking a break from GIFF this year. They announced it on this blog post.
  2. I wonder what they're talking about in there! You can only wonder...
  3. We do that for all containers with questionable waterproofness. If any water gets inside, we don't use it.
  4. For some reason, I cannot see the quick filters for your hides bar at the top on the Cache Owner Dashboard page. Running Chrome on Windows 10. Everything else is fine though...
  5. Here's my list. D1 = Rarely ever gets DNFs D1.5 = 5-10% DNFS D2 = 10-20% DNFs D2.5 = 20-30% DNFs D3 = 30-40% DNFs D3.5 = 40-50% DNFs D4 = 50-60% DNFs D4.5 = 60-80% DNFs D5 = 80-100% DNFs, or special tools required The problem is there's so many variables, it's hard to accurately rate them like this.
  6. Sometimes there are cookie-cutter answers, other times... Not so much.
  7. Now I remember another. At an event one time, we had to sign a picnic basket.
  8. I couldn't imagine Hot Glue holding up for long, but OK... Another vote here for JB Weld 2-part epoxy.
  9. Probably the strangest log that we've encountered (As far as I can remember) was a wooden dowel. It was one of those bottle puzzles where you have to use a marble to unscrew a bolt in order to the dowel out. I believe it's called a Grecian Bottle Puzzle.
  10. Am I supposed to have an opinion on PMO caches? I never really pay attention to which caches are Premium Only and which one's are not. It makes no difference to me. We make most of our hides premium only, but that's because they're caches I put time and effort into creating, and I don't exactly want people with one find to be attempting to find/solve them. It's not a foolproof method, but it helps.
  11. Oh boy... There's already been more than enough threads on this, all coming to the same consensus: No. Geocaching is a location based game, virtual events are not.
  12. Ok. GC codes are usually in uppercase anyways. Thanks! By the way, for some reason I can see the slight difference between 0 and O here, but not on your post... Edit: It's possible that the U could look like a V...
  13. Why are the letters LOUIS not used? I understand that Base 31 has to leave out 5 letters, but why not just make it go up to U and leave out VWXYZ instead? Just wondering. It's making it harder for me to do this whole Base 31 to Base 10 conversion thing
  14. Our best day was 54 finds, on a simple power trail in the middle of nowhere. It wasn't too bad, considering there was a variety of containers hidden in different places. It was pretty fun, as we did it with a friend, but I don't think we would have wanted to do any more that day.
  15. Nice! We also finally filled our D/T grid pretty recently as it was our main goal for the year. We've been trying to complete it for the longest time, but never really put to much effort into it until the last two spots, where we had to make an out of county trip to find. Now, like you, we'll probably never think about it again
  16. I've been thinking about making a thread like this for a while, and now here it is. Your milestone can be about any geocaching achievement that you have recently completed. No arguments or rants, only milestones! We recently hit our 2000'th find at a outdoor event cache!
  17. I'll list everything that I can think of. Pen Backup Pen Super Backup Pen Backup Pencil Lanyard Tweezers Safety pin with hook on the end (Even better than the tweezers at getting out logs!) HQ Trackable Mileage Tag Replacement Cammoed Pill bottle Spare logs Small flashlight Magnetic grabber tool Regular SWAG and Custom SWAG Small first aid kit (It's a trackable too!) Jar opener gripper Small Plastic Bags Notepad Sharpie Super Glue Zip Ties Small Whistle And of course, a Swiss Army Knife/MultiTool This all fits into a small fanny pack that we carry around everywhere. It's basically all we ever need! And of course, the Iphone for navigation
  18. For me what constitutes a power trail is if the sole purpose of the hides is to gain numbers as quickly as possible. I'm leaving it at that.
  19. Your World Explorer Souvenir isn't. Just letting you know. You end up getting 3 souvenirs overall, one from all the modern wonders, one from all the ancient wonders, and one for completing the whole thing.
  20. Or, like RuideAlmeida said, you can use Project-GC. https://project-gc.com/Tools/MapCompare But the way Max and 99 and IceColdUK said works just as well.
  21. 1. Where did I write that? If I say birds fly have I said everything that flies is a bird? You said FTF hounds see it as competitive. I figured by that you meant all FTF hounds, but apparently not. Maybe you should have been a little more specific.
  22. You really think every single FTF hound sees the side game as competitive? I like to get FTFs. Does that automatically make me a first to find hound? If I meet someone out in the field, searching for the cache, and I find it first, I'd be happy to share Co-FTF with them. If I meet someone out in the field, searching for the cache, and they found it first, I'm still claiming Co-FTF and there's nothing they can do about it. Do you think I see the game as competitive? I don't. There are plenty of other people out there like this. I just like to try to be friendly when I meet other people out geocaching, regardless of the situation.
  23. You seem to like comparing an actual competitive sport to a game/hobby. Nice move.
