  1. Actually, my brother-in-law was looking for one of those AOL disks after he reformatted his HD the other day... we couldn't find one. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  2. I've got a couple of caches that are "trinket" caches - but they clearly state that on the cache page. I just say that those caches are made more for the hunt, rather than for the goodies to be had. I'm one of the "I'm just finding it to find it" type seekers - so it doesn't matter to me if it is a 5 gallon bucket filled with goodies, or a mint tin with only a log book. Oh, I've also got a HUGE cache filled with bookcrossing.com books too - so I've got both ends of the spectrum covered, I guess. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  3. Expect your cache to eventually be looted. Think negatively... you usually won't be disappointed. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  4. Naw, I've been taking regular showers so far this year... no trail of insects behind me yet.
  5. Gracias. I figured the info was already out there somewhere. I have to work on my search skillz. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  6. I've convinced myself that WAAS is all hype. I've heard that sometimes the accuracy can DECREASE as much as it sometimes increases, when you have WAAS turned on in your GPSr. I haven't tested my theory... haven't studied up on it much at all, really. I am just stubborn, I think it eats more battery life, and I'm sceptical of its usefulness in our hobby - since being within 15 feet (non-waas) seems good enough anyway. What does this have to do with the topic post? Not much, I guess. Don't mind me... The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  7. Settle down, Beavis. Just go to page 3/4 and you'll see all the "current" posts. I'm guessing when the old ones are imported, they are thrown to the top of the index rather than where they should be in the order of the posts. Once the current posts get more replies, they'll cycle back to the top and it'll be all good. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!" (Of course, as more messages are imported and/or replied to, the page they start on will change.)
  8. I haven't really been reading too many of the OLD old posts... so the only way I noticed that some might be missing is by seeing my post count in my forum profile / sig. It says I've made less than 600... and I know that isn't right, because I'm pretty dern sure that I was happy to have hit the "666 evil posts" mark a few months ago. I've got a lot of catching up to do anyway, so you'll hear no complaints from me any time soon. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  9. If someone has already discussed this, please feel free to give me a few lashes - and then point me in the right direction so I know what's going on. I clicked through the new forum stuff, and I noticed that if you click on my "Rubbertoe" name above my avatar, you will get my profile... but a very OLD profile. The text in my profile is what I once had in my regular geocaching.com profile a long time ago, but it is nothing like what my profile is now. Forum Profile Data Geocaching.com Profile Data So far, I haven't seen a way to change the forum data seperately. If you click on the tools to adjust the forum profile, it actually takes you to your regular ol' geocaching profile. Any info is appreciated. 10. So, I finally dug my Vista out of whatever box I threw it in during my recent move... I figured I'd snag a quick/easy cache on my way home from work this morning. Well, I work nights, so I headed home around 6:30a. Went to the location, it is a little park... of course both entrances are closed off by bar-gate things, and it was raining like a sun-of-a-beech - so parking down the road and walking back to the location wasn't an option. Well, not an option for ME anyway... like I'm gonna drag my lazy butt down the street in the pouring rain just to snag my first cache of '03. I think not. Sunny days will come soon - and the first score of the year shall be mine. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  11. I have been away for too long, so I'm not even sure who is who anymore... you get to know someone by their avatar sometimes, and then when they change it - a person can get a little confused. Maybe it's just me... heh Anyway - I can't imagine my avatar would get many votes, considering that it was mistaken for another body part before I zoomed out on the image a bit, heh. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  12. I've got a Moto T720 with wireless web, and it is pretty much crap. Very very limited text based web stuff, via WAP - and it is barely good enough to read yahoo news, check movie listings, look up addresses, etc. Now, if I can figure out more about the built in "gps" type feature in the phone, then I'd be a bit more excited. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  13. It's somewhat of a PITA for the folks there to approve regular caches, let alone the possible flood of temporary caches that would come in. While single-use or time-limited caches can serve a good purpose in some cases, it just isn't something that is terribly convenient for the approvers to do - for the limited benefit to the ENTIRE community here. That's my guess anyway The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  14. I'd like to complain that I have a new job which SEVERELY limits my potential caching time. 6 days a week, 8 hours a day... er... night... I work nights now, and I tend to sleep all day - hard to get used to that sleeping schedule. Anyways... this is my first post in quite a while - just wanted to stop back in to see what's up. I guess I can't complain about the money I'm getting from all the OT though, eh? The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"

  16. dammit... I neglect to check the forums for the past several days, and now everyone has different avatars. I'm so confused... *cry* The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  17. Thanks for not requiring people leave a bug in order to take one. This really frees up the options of travel for the bugs... now if someone is flying out for business, they don't have to worry about if they already have a travel bug in order to trade for one that they can help. Good work. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  18. bigredmed's sig images have been broken for like 2 weeks now. why doesn't he change them? The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  19. I don't mind logo pens and pencils. My wife actually collects crap like that, so I'd be likely to snag those for her. My .02 The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!"
  20. I'd like to complain about the forums you'll find at most other sites that are filled with little content, yet massive amounts of lame (yet huge) sig pictures and animations. I'm not sure if you have to be registered at that site to view... but man - I suppose a network designed for gamers is going to get the type of crowd that feels the need for 400x300 images in ALL of their posts.
  21. quote:Originally posted by umc:Thats news to me, thanks for pointing it out and maybe you can educate me on proper gun safety and point out what is wrong with that pic. You are correct about my camera being in danger while the pic was taking but the tripod that it was sitting on was quite safe. Heh... this makes me think back to when my cousin and I were younger - we used to hunt each other in the woods behind our house, shooting each other with BB guns. We'd have thick coats and goggles on... but still - BBs friggin' hurt. But no - I don't believe that having an avatar with a gun pointed at the viewer is beyond the scope of the 1st amendment or something... hehe I remember a decade or so ago, pretty much every semi-truck that you'd see on the highway would have a bumper sticker that said "Protected by Smith & Wesson" with a picture of a revolver aimed at the person reading the sticker. The Toe Pages "Now with 50% less yuck, and 100% more color!!" (And yeah, I'd be more scared of the guy with the bucket o' doots, fo' sho'!)

  23. quote:Originally posted by Faderaven: quote:I've already changed my avatar once because someone thought it was an upside down image of shaved testicles with a face on it.Heh. Now there's a mental image I don't need. Let me help by inverting my original avatar... you be the judge.
  24. I don't like Metaphors avatar... it reminds me of a terrorist, with the face all hidden by the mask. And Prime Suspect? Oh my... you can just tell that he is up to no good. I've already changed my avatar once because someone thought it was an upside down image of shaved testicles with a face on it. What happens if someone comes in the forums that is really put off by pictures of feet? Having a picture of a gun like that is quite different from doing that in real life. I'm pretty sure if you ever met UMC or Criminal or whoever - they wouldn't go around aiming guns at you. Hopefully you will find a way to block the images you find offensive - but I hope you don't try to get Jeremy to remove those avatars if they choose not to change them.
