  1. I'd be really interested in any of those. Great idea. Keep me posted!! Murfster
  2. AH HA! Never mind.. Found it.. never tried that before.
  3. You can do this from the Geocaching.com Google maps. Display up to 500 caches on a map centered and zoomed how you like it, then order a query for everything displayed on the map. I understand most things in this thread but not this? How do you get the caches on a google map? Thanks!
  4. Congrats ..especially as a few of those are from Northern Ontario!
  5. My suggestion would have been .. and you did it already .. post a query in the forums. (There was another cacher from Sudbury awhile back asking the same thing.) My first event was a simple meet for coffee cache. I just put in for an event on a Saturday 10 am, meet at the local Tim Hortons. I'd be the guy with the GPS on the table. It was great only 2 couples showed up but it was a start.. the third event had over 20. You may have to be the one to start it. My worst fear was nobody would show.. but I doubt that would happen and ... who'd know. Timmins is a bit of a drive but there are a half dozen finds along the way and lots when you get here. You could go back by Hwy 11 and pick up caches that way as well. I don't hear much from North Bay either but there are a lot there. Sault St. Marie has lots of good cachs as well. Our next event .. (perhaps 2 of them) will be May 10th with a WWFM III.. ( Look up www.podcaster.com to learn more about that. I'll send you an e-mail. Murfster
  6. Great site.. going to do our best to be there! Team Murfster
  7. Season's Greetings and many finds in 2008! Murfster
  8. It would be noce to know which hotels/motels are closest to the event. Does anyone know? Murfster

  11. There is many a stormy night ahead with our Canadian winter. I know we can get some winter caching in and I like that. But I found this GPS game some of you puzzle types might enjoy. What do the rest of you do in winter to prepare for next season? Murfster
  12. I used a Pocket PC and GPX Sonar.. but I may try one of the others listed here. I have GSAK but only to open my pocket queries then export to MapSource for loading to my Garmin 60Csx. After troubles loading from GSAK I just gave up and went to MapSource and have not had a problem since. There are a lot of GSAK fans out there but honestly I have never figured out any of the features.. It needs a manual I guess. Murfster
  13. I agree it is best to try them out ..but I have soooo many things to log into now ...all with passwords! And for off topic.. I really like when there are photo's posted. That is what I want to do more. The old addage " A picture is worth a thousand words!".. and I type slow! Thanks.. Murfster PS How do you get the little text below your signature.. what I call "Tag Lines"or the like from the pre-internet BBS world. ( Guess you know by that I'm not young! )
  14. I know I have seen a thread relating to this, but for the life of me I can't remember where. Not in Canada Eh! I’d like to start posting more photos. There are many choices such as Flickr, PhotoBucket etc. What do you use and why? Thanks Murfster
  15. The smaller brass nano ones do not have O rings. See what I mean. Murfster
  16. I got mine today and they look great.. going to start painting. Bonus they come in nice mini zip lock bags as well! Murfster
  17. The Lee Valley Tools Early Christmas Gift flyer has some low cost mini containers. Check out the Mini Containers or the TINY brass ID Nano containers. Murfster
  18. Any updates on this event? Murfster
  19. From Timmins I often travel through North Bay and look forward to more Northern caches. Murfster
  20. Sorry to hear about your GPS. Good reminder to all of us to put our names and numbers on the start up screen AND with a marker under the battery cover. Hope you get it back. The tape is a good idea as well. I have a friend with a long piece of flag tape on his. Murfster
  21. Sorry to hear about your GPS. Good reminder to all of us to put our names and numbers on the start up screen AND with a marker under the battery cover. Hope you get it back. Murfster
  22. Has an actual location for the event been selected? Murfster
  23. RES2100 has a good point. If they bump up the rates or are over booked who will want to go. Also if a particular hotel/motel was suggested it could be fun with lots of geocachers’ to meet. Maybe a few mini events cold be held there. I'd like to hear more from the organizers on accommodations!! Murfster
