  2. I'm ready, contacted friends in Halifax to use the guest room! =)
  3. I actually have little ziplocks just a touch larger than the cards, that the cards can go into...and then i place them in the cache. I also just trade them to geocachers for their signature items. I give some away...etc. I did the token thingy (2 x), and the geocoin thingy (1x) and I have now done the geo-trading cards twice. I am looking to make the next card, a memorial to a geocacher friend (Mirlan) who passed on last year. I may do a series of these of a number of geocachers who are no longer with us. What size are the cards? Is the ink water resistant? They look great! Murfster

    Netbooks

I love to have my laptop when I travel. Many times I have gone back to the cache-mobile to look up a hint, or take a second look at the map. There is more and more advertising for “Netbooks”. I’d like to know and suspect others might as well.. 1. Does it work well for geocaching? 2. What kind do you have? 3. What will it not do.. or not do as well as a laptop? 4. Suggestions for those thinking of getting one? Thanks Murfster
  5. "I used to have a cache called " Black Beast of Arrrggghhh ". It got muggled after some stoners decided to make a party spot near the cache and took it. I finally got around to recreating it. " Awesome! What kind of glue did you use for the eyes? ( I suspect a few will copy and CREDIT your idea.) Murfster "editetited 4 pelling"
  6. Oh ya! forgot about those guys! Georgian College rents out its dorm rooms during the summer, and acts as a hostel. Good price, and you get the interesting atmosphere of being back in University Not like any University/College I have ever seen! Private bathrooms in the units, kitchette, airconditioning... cable TV.. There are bigger suites available as well as singles.
  7. As a fan of hot running water and other creature comforts I will not be camping. Did find a good deal at Georgian College Residences.. two bedroom suite for $65 a night, coffee and internet included. Murfster (Edit to reduce quote)
  8. I have to agree, back when they were put out there were very few caches or cachers in Northern Ontario. The goal was admirable. I had a lot of fun with them over the years. Sorry to see them go but it is time to move on. Thanks I'll pick up what I can when in the area. I believe if you want them, take them over and resubmit them. I know some have been taken over by local organizations. Murfster
  9. I have used them years ago.. back before studded snow tires. They are not great.. hard to put on, and the problem is often one of clearance rather than traction. New cars are much lower. They also tend to come off and get lost in the snow or tangled . Then you are really in a spot. I have seen them spin off and damage the wheel wells as well. Keep you speed to below 30.
  10. Thanks! Great news.. I'll be there! Murfster
  11. I have booked my rooms as there is a limited amount of places to stay in this community...unless you want to bring your camping gear on the train. Murfster
  12. Have a look at Wachay @ The Bay event.
  13. "Quebec" is a huge province! Unless you mean the capital "Quebec City"? The best way would be to decide where you are going and find a postal code for that area. Then search on that Postal Code. Some of the caches are written in French so you may want pick a few and translate them with Google's Language tools. ( Not the best but it will give you the idea.) Bonne chance et bon temps! Murfster
  14. Happy Holidays one and all! "Thank you!" to the the Volunteer Reviewers.. Murfster

  16. I’ve started this forum to consolidate two interesting discussions on future events. Hopefully this is allowed. One discussion was about Mega events in Canada in the future ( Mega Events in Canada 2009 2010? ) and the other dealt with the GPS Maze coming to Canada. (My Good Laugh for Today ) I think it very useful as we start our planning for future travel. Given events can not show up on the GC calendar until 3 months before I find this may not be soon enough for some of us.
