  1. Not the only one with an XL. I have one but have not tried to load the new version. Mine is working fine and not sure if I want to mess it up. Tried once for help from Magellan and got nowhere. Dont want to have to contact Bangladesh again if you know what I mean
  2. After getting my Explorist and setting it up I incountered a problem downloading geocaches to it. Once again Windows Vista seems to be the problem. I updated the recomended drivers from Magellan and still no luck. Once again I call the support line. After doing several things they recommended it was still unable to download. A call back got an interesting comment. I was told that none of the Magellans would work with Windows Vista and they did not plan on doing anything to make it happen. Once again great support from Magellan. Wonder how Garmin support is
  3. I recently purchased a Triton 400 for geocaching. I also returned it two days later because of the problems. I know most of the problem was with the Vista operating system I am forced to use but I found several problems with the Triton. The buttons were very small and hard to use. You can only set a waypoint from the map screen. I couldnt get Vista to recognize the unit. When I called and sent emails they would only say you will have to wait for the firmware upgrade to come out. As a geocaching unit I did not find it very user friendly. I returned it and purchased an Explorist which is much more familiar. Good luck with the Triton. It will be interesting to see if other cachers find the model useful. Looked good in the ads but not so fun in the hand
  4. Just did a Library type cache in Redding California. My first one of this type and found it to be very interesting. Have also done the one LazyBoy mentioned in Oregon.
  5. Congrats to the Boxerlovers. They are some of the nice people you get to play this game with. I have enjoyed the friendly competition and friendship. Way to go!
  6. That reminds me Lazyboy, I need to do some of you caches soon
  7. If I get any I would deliver don't need to much of a reason to head to Reno. There are caches there I need to find. Besides I need to use up some of my timeshare time
  8. Are you sure you dont want to send some of those to southern Oregon. Well if you get too may I have a pickup and will travel for the right number
  9. In reality all the caches we place are on property that is owned or controlled by someone. So I guess we should have to get permission to place any cache except ones on our own peoperty and sometimes I am not too sure about that. I figure if its not against any laws and is on public property then it should be ok. As for using it for a purpose not intended, what about Clark Kent using them to change into Superman. Maybe its like my old boss used to say "sometimes it is better to beg forgiveness then to ask permission" Common sense should rule when deciding to ask permission or not.
  10. I think we will have to pass this information around. Most active cachers in the area should join. Was wondering when someone with computer smarts would start a group down this way. Are you sure it's Buffords fingers and not a bump on the head while crawling into a stump to hide a cache.
  11. That Bufford, what some people wont do to get a ftf
  12. Had the same thing happen to the one that I tried to get approved. Kept asking me different questions then denied it anyway as it didnt meet the "uniqueness". I enjoy the virtuals with some type of history attached but desided to give up as it is obvious they dont want to approve them anyway.
