  1. I guess I'm not up on my terminology. Sorry. Anyhoo, I plugged my micro chip into my computer and verified that there is no data on it. I don't think waypoints are stored on the card either. What I lost is all my waypoints (geochaches, tracks & routes) I thought I might have accidently selected reset all when trying to reset the odometer but the odo was never reset so I guess it's still a mystery.
  2. when I pulled out my 64mb micro chip. Re-installed chip and all data I had installed is gone. This cant be normal can it??
  3. I got all the same stuff from amazon as well! Actually I just ordered the 1G micro from newegg less than $20 and $5 shipping.
  4. I bought a Magellan 330M when they first came out. Still have it and I must say it's still as accurate as my new 60csx. I will keep my 330M as a backup (and for it's cool white body) as long as it still works. A few years ago I bought a Meridian Gold thinking I was getting a better unit but that was not the case for me.
  5. That's an old unit. Probably not WAAS enabled so it may never get any better than that. You could check the Magellan website for any software updates and install them if available. That was my first GPS. A great unit at the time. In fact, I still have a 330m that I keep as a backup. Good luck, AF
  6. Wow, were you in an F-15? Southwest allows them according to their magazine's list of allowable electronic devices. I will have to try that out soon. Thanks for the cool idea
  7. N S Thanks, that was easy! R L Thanks, I did not even notice that was there. I got some more reading to do now. Cheers, AF
  8. I've had nothing but Magellan gps's up until now. Just got the 60csx for the reasons you listed above. A great lightweight, rugged unit. I would highly recomend the Garmin GPSMAP. Just my .02 Cheers, AF
  9. Just got my 60csx from Amazon. First thought was "It's smaller than I had thought it would be". But that's okay, I had just been concidering an XL purchase before I got this. Very light but durable feel to it. Outside, it locks on faster than any other GPS I have ever used. Did a geocache and the gps got me within1 foot! Color screen easy to read in dark and full sun. I am very happy with this unit. One thing I don't like~ When going to the find menu, it just lists my saved waypoints that are in my immediate area. I am used to getting my entire list of waypoints and would like for it to be that way. I have waypoints for Florida, Washington and Costa Rica loaded but I can't see any but the few close to me. I'm sure there is a way to do this but it eludes me right now. I've always had Magellan units so I have a Garmin learning curve I guess. Can anyone help? Cheers, AF
  10. Just bought! Garmin 60csx Magellan 330 M Had Magellan 315 Magellan 330 Magellan Meridian Gold Decided to go with Garmin after disapointing customer service with Magellan. Too bad, I had been very happy with all my Magellans untill I got the Meridian Gold.
  11. Sorry guys, I think I should have phrased it a different way. A friend has the software and was going to let me use the second install allowed by Magellan on my gps if I had bought an xl. I did not mean to mislead, all this software stuff is new to me and I did not know about all the lock code stuff and what a pita it is.
  12. Hit the "BUY" button!! A new 60csx is on it's way.
  13. Thanks for the reply starbox. I have been reading the forum all night and came to the conclusion that the 60csx is a much better unit. The down side is that I have access to all the software for the XL for free. I'm thinking i'd be happier with the garmin though. And your post pretty much firms up my choice to go with the 60 csx. Thanks, Barry
  14. Thinking of getting one. Love the big screen. Any opinions on this unit? Pro's, Con's. I tried a search but the search engine does not like the xl in the field for some reason. I have a Meridian gold and not too happy with it but my previous Magellans I like alot. I've gone back to using my 330 M which still works great and looks cool as well. Thanks in advance
  15. I dont spend enough time in the forum to know if this has been asked. Is there a way to search specificly for caches with high difficulty & terrain ratings? Has anyone done a scuba cache?? Thanks Baron
  16. could you send me pictures of this to "vonkamp@comcast.net"? Thanks, Baron
